Afternoon in Aomori
The guys are hungry for some ramen and go searching for a very popular restaurant in Aomori with a special dish: Butter Ramen!! An Aomori specialty and damn is it good! Then the guys head over to the visitor center by the famous Aomori bridge for an unobstructed view of the city from the observation deck. After a full day of hangin' out, they grab a quick beer and board the train back to Misawa. This is the final of a 3-part Aomori episode.

This is part of my cycle journey across Japan. I arrived by ferry in Aomori and made my way in to the city centre via the Aomori Bay Bridge.

Having just returned from Aoni Onsen EJ, Tim, and I explore the bay city of Aomori-shi, Aomori-ken Japan. We pig out at the A-Building, walk the docks along Aomori Bay Bridge, and take in the sights on the 13th floor observation deck at the ASPAM building. 일본 혼슈섬 북쪽 끝에 자리 잡은 아오모리현은 ‘푸른 나무숲’이라는 의미처럼 대자연의 아름다움을 만끽할 수 있는 곳이다. 겨울에 눈이 많이 오기로 유명하며, 일본 제일의 사과 수확량을 자랑하는 곳이기도 하다. 나는 우선 역 앞에서 출발해 중심가를 따라 걷기로 했다. 왼쪽 항구 방향에 독특하게 생긴 건물이 눈에 띈다. 알파벳 ‘A’를 본 따 디자인된 15층 높이의 ‘아오모리현 관광물산관’은 도시의 랜드마크 역할을 하고 있다. 1층엔 이 지역의 대표 특산물과 공예품 등을 모아놓은 쇼핑가가 자리잡고 있다. 삼면이 바다로 둘러싸인 지역인 만큼 해산물이 풍부하다. 그중 가리비는 탱탱한 육질과 개운하고 단맛을 자랑하는 아오모리의 대표 해산물이다. 그밖에 다양한 해산물을 재료로 한 가공식품들이 판매되고 있다. 일본 전체 사과 생산량의 절반을 차지하는 지역답게 사과로 만든 가공품들이 아주 많다. 아예 사과 하나를 통째로 구운 사과파이가 재미있다. 사과나무를 재료로 한 손수건, 주머니에 화장품까지...정말 사과로 만들 수 있는 건 여기에 다 있다. 한쪽에 자리 잡은 파이가게에서 나는 달콤한 냄새.갓 구운 파이의 유혹을 뿌리치기 어렵다. 건물 꼭대기의 전망대에 올랐다. 아담한 시내가 한 눈에 들어온다. 아오모리의 상징물 중 하나인 베이브릿지. 바다에 면한 산책길에는 20년 전까지 홋카이도를 오갔던 연락선이 지금은 전시관으로 변신해 있다.

My twelfth day in Japan and I'm in #Aomori. Went to the #Nebuta Museum and saw the beautiful amazing floats. Found a pleasant little shrine (Uto Shrine) and it lucked out that I was there during the Autumn. The little shrine has loads of maple trees and the autumn foliage was stunning.
