NZ's North Island by bike 05: Great Barrier Island
Music by Charlie So:
Great Barrier Island is 100km east of Auckland and reachable by ferry or plane. I usually hear it referred to as 'The Barrier'. It has a little under 1000 permanent residents, no electricity (its residents use generators, wind, and solar energy), decent roads, little traffic, and a large proportion of the island is made up of protected native bush. There are a number of campsites run by DoC on the island as well as a few huts servicing the Aotea track. This was my first time there. It's well worth a visit.
Get2Go Adventure Race Great Barrier Island NZ..1
Youthtown Get2Go Challenge. Get2Go Challenge is like the Amazing Race, Treasure Island and Survivor, mixed together with adventure sports including rock climbing, orienteering, kayaking and mountain biking. Get2Go is sponsored by Youthtown and has been designed to encourage a wider participation in outdoor pursuit activities.
There are 12 regional events around the country spanning as far north as Whangarei, right down to Dunedin. These take the form of one day challenges that are held in Term 3 each year.
In the regional one day events, teams need to navigate between four 60minute long challenges and attempt each in the allotted time. To maximise their score in each task teams will be required to work together, using important team skills such as communication, problem solving, planning and decision making.
There is a limited capacity of 24 teams at each regional challenge, with teams taken on a first in first served basis.

Great Barrier Island
Great Barrier Island is only four and a half hours from Auckland by ferry and half an hour by plane. But the place is another world. Empty roads invite the visitor to explore the coastlines. Walking tracks can find you in dense forest and mountains. But for us it was all about the white sand beaches and crystal waters they crumble into. This is an island paradise that will leave you invigorated and enchanted. Go explore.

Sue Grey Talk Aotea Great Barrier Island
Environmental lawyer, Activist, Scientist, Sue Grey delivers a well reasoned and powerful talk on D.O.C s decision to aerialy poison Rakitu Island with Brodifacoum to control rodents, to the residents of Aotea. Despite a majority of the community opposed to the project. Sue also briefly comments on Police acting illegally, Brook Valley Sanctuary, cannabis reform and the family who were suspected of being poisoned by 1080. These battles have been fought in small communities all over NZ and Sue gives hope and advice to those opposing the strong arm of D.O.C

Sustainable Coastlines - Aotea - Great Barrier Island, New Zealand
Organisers are overwhelmed with the success the massive coastal clean-up event on Aotea/Great Barrier Island.
Hundreds of volunteers tackled the rugged coastlines on foot, from boats and in kayaks to remove over 2.2 tonnes of rubbish from the remote island -- a true show of their passion to keep New Zealand beautiful.
Sustainable Coastlines provides ideas, coordination and support to communities to initiate, pursue and take ownership of local projects that will help improve their particular coastal environment.
Green Lemon Pictures went out on location to Aotea/Great Barrier Island and captured the stories behind the hundreds of volunteers and school kids who dedicated their weekend to help sustain the beautiful environment on Great Barrier Island.

Windy Canyon, Great Barrier Island, New Zealand
One of the major attractions on Great Barrier Island/Aotea is Windy Canyon. It's only a 10 minute walk from the side of the road to the first viewpoint. The views from the top are absolutely remarkable.

Great Barrier Island | 带着火锅去徒步 | 新西兰大屏障岛徒步3天 | travel vlog
Stunning Sunsets!
Natural Hot Springs!
Beautiful Sky!
时间:2019/6/15-6/18
事件:3天2晚的大屏障岛徒步
预算:300NZD(2次航班,奥克兰机场停车,Hut $30,岛上交通$30,剩余的都吃了)

Biking Great Barrier Island
I've just come back from the most incredible adventure on Great Barrier Island, my friend Jonny and I biked around the 285 km² Island in just three days! It was intense!
On our second day we were biking for close to 12 hours up huge mountain slopes, across rivers and along the jaw dropping coastline! I took my camera along and made a video of our trip!
