KOREA SEOUL VLOG 2018 DAY 8: Tofu Stew, Apgujeong Rodeo Street, Daerim (Chinatown), HONGDAE BINGSU

This was my last and final day in Korea. Woke up late again, as usual. Decided that I wanted to eat a LOT, so I knew this place in around Apgujeong where they served heaps of banchan (Korean side dishes). Decided to go there and eat, but turns out they only took two people minimum, so I had to go to the restaurant next door. Nevertheless it was a very good meal especially when I was super hungry.

Walked around the vicinity afterwards, and noting how freezing it is, I went into the LG centre. Not there to buy stuff but just there to scab heat.

Then headed over to Daerim, which is Seoul's Chinatown. This area is relatively under explored, so there isn't much information about it. However I decided to give it a shot given the limited activity that could be done in Seoul (also given the -10*C weather). Turns out there is a strong mix of Korean and Chinese community in this area, and lots of Chinese characters being used. Had a few eats there, and then went straight to Hongdae to eat Bingsu right after.

The Bingsu I ordered was the Strawberry one with the red bean mochi. Not exactly sure what it was on the menu, but I can confirm it was REALLY good and a great way to end my trip in Korea.

☞ About K-STAR ROAD
The main road connecting the Apgujeong Rodeo Station exit 2 and Cheongdam crossroads is often called the ‘luxury road of Cheongdam,' with many luxury goods stores along with the road. However, it seems it is time to call it the K-Star Road.

As you take the exit 2 from the Apgujeong Rodeo Station, you can find GangnamDol, indicating that you have arrived at the K-Star Road. GangnamDol is a compound word of ‘Gangnam’, ‘idol, and ‘doll’. It is a symbolic sculpture of the K-Star Road, with the symbolic images of the famous K-pop groups printed on the human-scale bear doll.

It took about two years to establish the K-Star Road. There is a 3-meter-tall PSY GangnamDol in front of the Galleria Department Store, and seventeen more GangnamDols of Super Junior, EXO, Girl’s Generation, and Bangtan Boys are located. The GangnamDols are placed along with about 1 km section of the road connecting the Apgujeong Rodeo Station and Cheongdam crossroads, so if you walk along the GangnamDol places, you can enter the area packed with entertainment companies, including JYP Entertainment and Cube Entertainment. It is another enjoyable content to find your favorite singer’s GangnamDol and take a picture to be posted in your SNS.

SEOUL, KOREA VLOG 2016 | Changmin's Cafe, Cofioca, Gangnam Adventures!!

I started my day by meeting my friend, Natalie, and the first thing we did was look for The Min's Cafe (which is owned by 2AM's Changmin) in Apgujeong Rodeo. The cafe is frequently visited by idols (eg, BTS) and on that day, Changmin's mum was there too so she served us and talked to us! She was really friendly and nice & by the excitement on our faces, I think she could tell we were fans and told us to take as many pictures as we wanted & even recommended BTS' favorite drinks!

Afterwards, we went to Cofioca to buy bubble tea. It's also well known for the idols who go there (eg, EXO, SNSD etc) and the ajumma there was super friendly too!

We went to look at the Gangnamdols cause Natalie wanted to see the BTS doll! We went to Myeongdong afterwards to pick up EXO's new album which was released on that exact day!

I joined my family for dinner & we went to shop around for awhile. That's it for day 5 of my Korea trip! I hope you enjoyed the vlog despite the shaky footage.
