Tasmania Part 1 by The Australian Tourist
Tasmania is the only island state in Australia positioned at the bottom of the country south of Melbourne. Simply put Tasmania is a haven for Tourists. We were able to travel around in a Tasmanian camper which gave us the added benefit of having our transport, accommodation & cooking all in one. Tasmania is approximately 300km from north to south & east to west so you are going to need some transport, if you want to take full advantage of all that the island has to offer. Along our travels we saw an extreme number or bike riders peddling their way around Tasmania, after chatting with them they stated it was such a great place to cycle around as the towns aren't too far from each other. For those who don't want to brave the roads on a bike there are almost more campers then people available and every where you go there are caravan parks or hidden little places to park on the side of the road (you didn't hear that part from me). The scenery is incredible and there is great variety from the east to the west and the north to the south.
You can't go to Tasmania with out seeing the Tasmanian Devil or even try find the thought to be extinct Tasmanian Tiger. If your lucky enough you may spot a Tasmanian Devil in the wild but there are several wild life parks such as East Coast Nature World that you can get up close and take picture of the little devils.
Tasmania has a detailed history of convict life with one of the best places to see first hand, buildings and living conditions of the early convicts & settlers is at Port Arthur. Not far from Port Arthur are incredible cliffs with ocean caves, arches and natural stone structures. It may very well be worth while taking one of the many boat tours to show you around these areas.
As you travel around Tasmania you'll see many different types of farms including some famous vineyards that are well worth a stop.
Hobart has plenty to offer besides being a city & offering all the comforts of the city it also has the incredible Mt Wellington towering over it. Please don't go to Hobart with out the drive up Mt Wellington.
Tourism & travel in Tasmania is world class, if you live in Australia it's only a cheap flight away.
A special thanks to the Team at Tasmania Campers/ Devil Campers & East Coast Nature World for making our experience unforgettable, if you ever get the chance to talk with these great people let them know The Australian Tourist says hi.
A huge thanks to Allan Wolf & son from Stanley (The Nut) for the interview.

Spirit of Tasmania - Flavours of Tassie Showcase Hartzview Vineyard
Pick a berry and Hartzview Vineyard will have a wine made from it. Whether it is blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, blueberry, raspberry or a combination of all of them -- Hartzview specialises in quality Tasmanian wines, ports and liqueurs of all varieties and flavours.
Located just forty-five minutes south of Hobart at the foot of of the Hartz Mountains, the vineyard has phenomenal views, fresh clean air and a café to boot. While you're enjoying your meal, you can take a look out over the historic picker's huts which date back to the 1900's.
Their most well-known product is the Pinot Noir, with berries that have a long ripening season, which gives very intense aromas and flavours to the mix. In addition to the white and red grape wines, Hartzview is also renowned for their spiced apple liqueur mead made from Tasmanian honey and apples. Also popular is their all Tasmanian French inspired crème de cassis which is divine when mixed with champagne, creating an exquisite Kir Royale cocktail.
