We recently received a tour of thier estate grounds and to see how this centuries-old rum is still manufactured. we also received Copious amount rum that kept us happy and Jolly along the tour.
After the tour, You will be educated on the different types of rum based on age , color and taste.
Carry a bit of extra cash as you might be tempted to buy a souvenir from the gift shop.

None, but the distiller advises this is a blend of 15 rums that are aged between 5 and 10 years in ex-American oak. The oak casks come from the Jack Daniels distillery and first fill casks were used for aging the rum.
Artificial Color?
Yes, E150a is present.
ABV
40%
Nose
Sweetness contributed to no doubt by sugar cane. Molasses wafts up and nice oak rounds things out. There is also an exotic note to this that makes me think of kitchen cooking spices like tarragon, dill and rosemary.
Palate
Robust salted caramel that is sweet but not overly so greets you. Molasses pulls up quickly with mint, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and apricot.
Finish
Drying orange rinds and more of those kitchen spices rise up. Think tarragon, rosemary and dill again! They accent the salted caramel, vanilla and orange rinds.
Conclusion
For the incredibly cheap price, I think you are getting good value for money. This rum is not complex, but for that price there is no burn, alcohol notes or off-putting quality.
Good stuff to sip or use as mix guilt free!

Last month, my friends and I celebrated my 21st birthday AND International Rum Day weekend at no better place than Appleton Estate!!
It was such a fun trip out and we had an amazing time.
I would definitely recommend checking the tour out for yourself!!!
Trust me, this video only truly highlight my friends and my drunk/crackhead behaviour...there is sooo much more to this tour!!

On the suggestion of Soteriologe we take a look at this fantasticly rich 12 year old rum from Jamaica. In very few products does quality, price and avaliability align so gracefully - or at least that's Tim's opinion.
Appleton Estate Rum Distillery, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica, Caribbean, North America
Appleton Estate has sugarcane plantations and distilleries in Jamaica, in which has been producing rum in 1749. There are different stages of aging of rum produced, sometimes very dark and melasselastig, but without the typical for many Jamaican rum hochestrige very fruity expression. It is the oldest growing company and distillery in Jamaica. The sugar cane is harvested by machine and partly old-fashioned way (with machetes). The production area of Appleton Estate covers more than 11,000 acres (45 km ²) of land. The parent company, J. Wray and Nephew Ltd.. produces the Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum. The origins of Appleton Estate date back to 1655, when the British took control of Jamaica from the Spanish. 1957 J. Wray & Nephew was sold to a group of major shareholders of the Jamaican Group deMercado Lascelles, 1989 J. Wray & Nephew was a wholly owned subsidiary of the group. 2008 acquired CL Financial, the largest private corporate group in Trinidad and Tobago and one of the largest in the Caribbean, the majority of Lascelles deMercado, however, came in 2009 in a liquidity crisis and was nationalized to the rescue. 2012 took over the Italian Gruppo Campari of CL Financial for the equivalent of 350 million euros, the majority of shares in Lascelles deMercado and therefore the brands Appleton, Wray & Nephew and Coruba. There is an option to complete takeover. Appleton Estate Rum produced tropical varieties in old oak barrels.
