Darwin
Darwin is the perfect destination for travelers, honeymooners, adventure enthusiasts and photographers. Tourists can make the most of the Aborigine culture, the Arnhem Land, the Litchfield National Park and the Kakadu National Park. A large number of options for sightseeing and an extensive range of activities are offered at Darwin.
Darwin is located in the Larrakia country. It was after Sir Charles Darwin that the Port of Darwin was named. This was before the Origin of the Species was published. The region has been appropriately named due to the teeming number of ancient and unique mammals, bird, reptiles, and bird species seen here. In its history Darwin has faced devastation twice due to bombing by Japan during the Second World War.
The ruins can still be seen and are a major attraction for tourists coming from different destinations across the world. Darwin Town Hall and the Palmerston constructed in 1983 are the most ancient buildings which are a popular tourist attraction. As of now it is home to the Darwin Theatre Company. Lawns are well manicured, streets are wide and buildings are expansive and low. The foliage in bright color, high tides of the ocean and lots more keeps attracting travelers from destinations nearby and abroad. Though Darwin city is small in size it does have all the major facilities required.
The Esplanade facing Port Darwin's west bay offers some of the best sunset seeing opportunities. The bay faces houses in beautiful tropical style and many luxury hotels. Numerous fish species like milkfish, catfish, mullet, shovel nosed ray fish etc. can be seen at Esplanade's northern end at Aquascene.
East Arm Wharf is a deep water port in Darwin with a wharfline up to 754 m and many of the tourist places in Darwin are connected with ferries from the mainland.

The kids enjoyed themselves kayaking in and around the man made lake.
Lake Bennett is under new ownership since last year and are now pet friendly (Ignore the billboard signs). They also offer camp sites and places for picnic this year. Lovely, friendly staff on site :)
If your into Geocaching, there are two caches enroute to this site and one along Chinnner road.

At Doctors Gully, right in the heart of Darwin and within walking distance of most city hotels is a unique attraction which has been featured in countless television programs and magazine articles world wide and voted most popular attraction in tourism surveys. AQUASCENE is where hundreds of fish come to shore at high tide to be fed by hand. Milkfish, mullet, catfish, bream and barramundi can be seen close enough to touch as they compete with each other for food. Many other species including rays, cod, mangrove jack and diamond fish may also be seen in the shallows if you watch carefully. At high tide hundreds of fish come into the shallows looking for a free feed - and they certainly get it at Aquascene! It is a ritual that began in the late 1950's when a local resident threw scraps of food to a few mullet. Somehow word got around in the fish populace and now milkfish, bream, catfish and many other species join the mullet in the skirmish for a meal.

Darwin, Australian Travel Video Guide
Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory is a great base from which to explore the Top End's many attractions. While in Darwin make sure you visit museum and it's fascinating Cyclone Tracey exhibition (Darwin was demolished by a cyclone in 1974), catch a movie at the open air deck chair cinema, feed the fish at aquascene, have a feed at the wharf precinct and check out one of the many fantastic markets.
Accommodation :
Darwin has a unique population mix with 75% of people aged under 25 years. It is also very multicultural, having over fifty different nationalities living harmoniously together. To capture the face of Darwin, I interviewed Bow Chooiam a 17 year old first generation Thai girl who I met working at her parents stall at the Parap markets.
