SUMMARY
=======
Aquatic Park is a public park in Berkeley, California, United States, located just east of the Eastshore Freeway (Interstate 80) between Ashby and University Avenues. The Works Progress Administration created the park in the 1930s simultaneously with the nearby Berkeley Yacht Harbor. Its centerpiece is an artificial mile-long lagoon that was cut off from San Francisco Bay by the creation of a causeway for the Eastshore Highway, during the construction of the approaches to the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, also in the 1930s. The lagoon still communicates with the Bay through culverts under the freeway (one in line with Ashby Avenue, the other in line with Grayson Street). The east shoreline of the lagoon used to be the original shoreline of San Francisco Bay.

Lake Anza ~ Berkeley California ~ mesmerizing reflections ~
Lake Anza is a recreational swimming reservoir in Tilden Regional Park, which is located in the Berkeley Hills above Berkeley, California.
The lake was created by the construction of the C L Tilden Park Dam in 1938.[1] It was named by the East Bay Regional Park Board in honor of Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza.[2]
The lake is open for swimming from May to September. During this time there is an entry fee required, lifeguards are on duty, and a snack bar is open. The swimming area is restricted to the water alongside a sandy and grassy beach area which is about 70 yards (64 m) long. There is an adult swim area with a length of 44 yards (40 m).[3]
The lake area includes amenities such as changing rooms, bathrooms (toilets), and large parking areas. There are areas around the lake reserved for waterfowl, and other areas for dogs.

Lake Anza was constructed in 1938 with financing by the Public Works Administration (PWA) as a recreational lake while also providing water to the Tilden Park golf course. While the golf course no longer uses Lake Anza water, remnants of the water system remain. The beach and stone bath house were constructed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The original WPA stone bath house burned down in the 1960s and was replaced with the current facility. ~Wikipedia

Lake Tahoe | Eagle Falls at Emerald Bay, Camping Trip
Lake Tahoe Eagle Falls Emerald Bay, Camping Trip
Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. Lying at 6,225 ft (1,897 m), it straddles the state line between California and Nevada, west of Carson City. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America,[3] and at 122,160,280 acre⋅ft (150.7 km3) trails only the five Great Lakes as the largest by volume in the United States. Its depth is 1,645 ft (501 m), making it the second deepest in the United States after Crater Lake in Oregon (1,949 ft or 594 m).
The lake was formed about two million years ago as part of the Lake Tahoe Basin, with the modern extent being shaped during the ice ages. It is known for the clarity of its water and the panorama of surrounding mountains on all sides. The area surrounding the lake is also referred to as Lake Tahoe, or simply Tahoe. More than 75% of the lake's watershed is national forest land, comprising the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit of the United States Forest Service.
Lake Tahoe is a major tourist attraction in both Nevada and California. It is home to winter sports, summer outdoor recreation, and scenery enjoyed throughout the year. Snow and ski resorts are a significant part of the area's economy and reputation. The Nevada side also offers several lakeside casino resorts, with highways providing year-round access to the entire area.

Building collapse: balcony disintegrates, kills five people in Berkeley, California
Originally published on 16 June, 2015
Five people died and eight were injured after an apartment balcony collapsed in the Californian city of Berkeley on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
The collapse of the balcony took place at around 12:41 a.m. on the fourth floor of a multi-story block in the downtown area, near the University of California.
Several Irish students were on the apartment’s balcony at the time of the accident. According to The Independent, they were attending someone’s 21st birthday party.
Charlie Flanagan, Ireland's Foreign Affairs Minister, confirmed the tragedy and said the Irish students were in the United States for the summer. “There are a number of other students in the apartment at what I understand to have been a 21st birthday party who have been injured,” Flanagan was quoted by the Independent as saying. “They are being treated at a nearby hospital,” he said.
Many of the students who were wounded are now in critical condition with life threatening injuries.
It is still unknown what caused the structure to disintegrate, but according to James Mullaney, a neighbor who lives in the same apartment block, the balconies are “small and estimated to hold a maximum of six people, The Independent reported. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the collapse.
Built in 2006, the complex has shops on the ground floor and apartments above.
