Here goes our road trip to Araku Valley, , a beautiful valley located in the Eastern Ghats of Indian subcontinent. We had a wonderful time, explored the food, local coffee museum, Chaparai Waterfalls and the famous Bora Caves.
Araku Valley, around three hours from the steel city Vishakapatnam, is surrounded by mountains like Galikonda, Raktakonda, Sunkarimetta and Chitamogondi. Besides Araku, this video also shows Anantagiri Hills, which are part of the valley.

Borra Caves Complete Video Tour | బొర్రా గుహలు | Araku Valley | Vizag To Borra Caves Road Journey
The Borra Caves, also called Borra Guhalu, are located on the East Coast of India, in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley of the Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh.
The caves, one of the largest in the country, at an elevation of about 705 m (2,313 ft), distinctly exhibit a variety of speleothems ranging in size and irregularly shaped stalactites and stalagmites. The caves are basically karstic limestone structures extending to a depth of 80 m (260 ft), and are considered the deepest caves in India.
History Of Borra Caves:
The native name for the caves is Borra Guhalu. Borra means hole in Odia language and guhalu means caves in Telugu language)
The caves were discovered in 1807, by William King George of the Geological Survey of India.
The caves are located in the Araku Valley of the Ananthagiri hill range and is drained by the Gosthani River. At the entry, the cave measures up to 100 m (330 ft) horizontally and 75 m (246 ft) vertically. Stalagmite and stalactite formations are found in the caves.
The average annual temperature of Araku hills, where the caves are situated, is about 25 °C (77 °F). The average annual rainfall reported is 950 mm (3.12 ft) (mostly occurring during the northeast monsoon). The Gosthani river provides water supply to the Visakhapatnam city.

Located at 120kms away from Vizag, and about 26 kms from Borra caves. Araku valley offers something for everyone and is a must for anyone visiting Vishakapatnam.
Araku Valley is a Hill station in Visakhapatnam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is a valley in the Eastern Ghats inhabited by different tribes.
The Anantagiri and Sunkarimetta Reserved Forest which are part of Araku Valley, are rich in biodiversity. This valley is surrounded by mountains like Galikonda, Raktakonda, Sunkarimetta and Chitamogondi. These hills are endowed with rich quality bauxite ore. Galikonda hill rising to a height of 5,000 feet (1,500 m) is one of the highest in Andhra Pradesh. The average rainfall is 1700 mm, bulk of which is received during June–October.

Can visit million years old Borra caves and truely natural Katiki falls en route. The road to enter into the Araku valley is breathtaking, In season the fields will be covered with yellow flowers. Araku Valley is a hill station and valley region in the southeastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It's surrounded by the thick forests of the Eastern Ghats mountain range. The Tribal Museum is dedicated to the area's numerous indigenous tribes, known for their traditional Dhimsa dance, and showcases traditional handicrafts. A miniature train runs through Padmapuram Gardens, with its sculptures and tree-top huts.

Araku valley is often referred to as Ooty of Andhra
Araku valley is situated in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. At an altitude of 3000 ft., it provides a calm and soothing environment. Araku valley is rich in natural attractions like misty clouds, greenery all around, natural caves, waterfalls, etc. And the icing on the cake is a pleasant climate throughout the year. Large open fields and small villages with simple folks are the sights to behold. Waterfalls and streams flowing from the sides of rail tracks and roads will simply take your breath away.

HOW TO REACH ARAKU VALLEY BY AIR – Nearest airport is Vishakhapatnam, which is about 110 km away and is well connected to all the major airports of the country. You can hire cabs or board buses to reach Araku from here.
HOW TO REACH ARAKU VALLEY BY TRAIN – Araku has its own railway station and a for reaching Araku Valley by train, the daily train is available from Vishakhapatnam. It takes around 4 hrs to reach Araku Valley from Vishakhapatnam.
HOW TO REACH ARAKU VALLEY BY ROAD – There are direct buses available from Vishakhapatnam to reach Araku. It is well connected by road to Vishakhapatnam.

Galikonda View Point _ Amazing view. You can see the waves of hills upto the horizon. The shades of green and grey and blue are mesmerising.
Coffee Plantations - Araku is also known for its coffee plantations and boasts of manufacturing India’s first tribal growers’ organic coffee brand. The coffee, which is organically grown by Adivasi farmers from the region, recently found global recognition, when ‘Araku Coffee’ won the prestigious Gold Medal for the best coffee pod in the Prix Epicures OR 2018 Award in Paris, France.
Araku village tour- Savara Tribe. Known for their woman centric social ways, these people are experts at navigating the challenges presented by living in remote mountain conditions. They are hard working and mainly subist on terraced fields they tend to in this beautiful velly.
Borra Caves - Located in the Anantha Hill of Araku Valley, Borra Caves are major tourist attraction on the East Coast of India. They present one of the most extraordinary natural wonders spread across an area of 2 sq km and lying at a height of 1400 m above the sea level.
Padmapuram Gardens - It is widely visited by the tourists coming to Araku. The hanging cottages are one of the top attractions of Padmapuram gardens.
The Araku Tribal Museum is a place holding treasure that showcases the culture, handicrafts, fine art and tradition of the tribes of Eastern hats. The museum comprises of tools that once belonged to the tribal people and one can experience the lifestyle of the natives to the area while going through its other belongings.
Chaparai Waterfall is a popular tourist attraction, with its endless streams that cut across big rock formations of Araku Valley. One can experience the beauty of water gushing through natural rocks. Bathing is well possible when the water flow is not really heavy.
Tatiguda waterfalls - The water gushes down in several steps, making it a wonderful sight to behold and this is a perennial waterfall.
Hot air balloon festivals are held annually in many places throughout the year, allowing hot air balloon operators to gather- as well as for the general public- to participate in various activities. The third Edition Scheduled in 2020 (17th January – 19th January 2020)
