Dr Kate Just - Stitching a Skin of Hope
Kate Just holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Sculpture) from Monash University, a Master of Arts from RMIT and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from the Victorian College of the Arts where she has been a Lecturer in Art since 2005. Just has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions across Australia as well as overseas in Auckland, New York and Vienna. Notable recent exhibitions include Just’s solo exhibition Venus Was Her Name at the Kunsthalle in Krems, a survey of Just’s major knitted works entitled Kate Just: The Knitted Work 2004 – 2011 at Ararat Regional Gallery, and her inclusion in the group exhibition Louise Bourgeois and Australian Artists at Heide Museum of Modern Art in 2012.
Just’s PhD project, The Texture of Her Skin was developed in counterpoint to dominant visual representations that centre on women’s object-hood and suppression in their skin. Through a series of visual art works, Just explored the evocative and connective character of skin, and advanced its potential to visualise female embodiment and subjectivity. The archive of mostly sculptural ‘artefacts’ Just presented in her PhD exhibition was developed in New York, Barcelona, Madrid, Vienna, Krems and Melbourne, re ecting a sustained engagement with a diversity of cultural and visual histories of skin and the body. Comprising a series of surgical tools, archaeological relics, knitted second skins and armours, Just’s works question and recon gure surface accounts of the female body, reimagine history from a subjective position, and manifest skin’s capacity to sustain our most intimate connections. Studio processes including cutting, kneading, sewing, knitting, carving, tracing and reassembling were deployed to further augment and reweave skin as an active, porous network enfolding a sense of self and connection to the world. For this presentation Just will focus on a body of Just made in Barcelona exploring her mother daughter relationship with her adopted daughter Hope.
Northern Grampians - Halls Gap

Nestled in the heart of the Grampians National Park, Halls Gap is a delightful small village and the area is renowned for spectacular hiking, stunning views and inquisitive wildlife. St Arnaud, settled in 1855 is a former gold mining town with a rich heritage and a feeling of nostalgic whimsy. The township of Stawell is a mere 20 minutes drive from Halls Gap and plays host to the annual Stawell Gift, Australia's richest foot race and first run in 1878.
There's a wealth of stories here too, with significant Aboriginal heritage sites, art galleries, and a rich wine-making history playing home to Great Western, in the heart of the Grampians Wine Region with some of the world's oldest vines. Discover vineyards, boutique wineries, great cellar doors, underground drives and the winemakers that, well, make it happen!
Enjoy a day out at the Halls Gap Zoo, Victoria's largest regional zoo, and get up close and personal with a wide variety of animals. However you choose to explore the North, there's no shortage of great places to stay, eat and enjoy yourself.

The Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and National Police have begun deploying personnel
The Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) and National Police have begun deploying personnel and equipment to secure the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Bali next week. At least 15 warships have been deployed in the waters off Bali, while the TNI and the National Police are planning to field at least 11 thousand personnel, apart from 16 Sukhoi fighter planes, F-16 fighter jets and M-17 warplanes. Meanwhile, the Bali Regional Police is also launching operations prior to the summit`s opening in an effort to prevent incidents in the run-up to the APEC Summit, which will last from October 1 to 8, 2013.

YOLO APP TOPPING THE DOWNLOAD CHARTS
A new app called YOLO has topped the download charts in the UK and US and it's only been out for a week!
But while it's already really popular a lot of people reckon the app's not so great because it could leave people open to cyber-bullying.
Basically, the app lets people on Snapchat post a 'Send Me Anonymous Messages' sticker to their story.
Then other people send them questions like 'where'd you get that shirt from?' or 'what's your favourite TV show?'
But the messages are all anonymous and that's where it can get nasty.
In the UK, children's charities are worried that it could be used by kids to bully others.
If you think this all sounds like déjà vu well a similar app was released by Snapchat in 2017 called Sarahah but it was kicked off of iOS and Android because people used it to bully others.
YOLO does come with a warning that it will ban anyone who's being abusive or inappropriate but experts aren't sure if that's enough to protect fellow users.

The Archibald Prize is Australia's most prestigious portrait prize.

TYPO ON THE FIFTY DOLLAR NOTE
Can you spot anything wrong with this note?
Hmm probably not, but if you had a magnifying glass and looked really closely you might be able to find a typo!
Yep, on the new $50 note the word 'responsibility' is missing an i. Yikes.
The notes have been going around since last year but people have only just noticed the mistake!
The Reserve Bank of Australia says they'll fix up the next batch but for now, around 46 million of these notes are circulating so you've got plenty of chances to check out this little easter egg.

MEET THE ARARAT KIDS WHO'VE SET UP A SCHOOL NEWSROOM
Next up to a kid who's probably going to steal my job one day!
He started a TV news show in Ararat, a town in country Victoria and now they're even breaking news!
Jack is in Year 10. But as you can see, he's also an experienced television producer, presenter and all round news enthusiast!
Jack goes to school in Ararat in regional Victoria. There is a local newspaper there, but the town doesn't have its own local TV news bulletin. So that's where this team comes in!
Jack had the idea of creating a newsroom within his high school to give keen young reporters the opportunity to fill the news gap and get experience and luckily his school thought it was an awesome idea!
The students are super passionate about bringing people the news and by all accounts they're doing a really great job. Even managing to break some big local stories!
Jack says even though it's fun, making a bulletin isn't an easy job! They take it really seriously, working at lunchtime and sometimes even pulling late shifts when there's big news going down, just like pro journalists. In fact, that's what some of these students are hoping to be in the future and something tells me, they'll get there!

BOB CAT GETS STUCK
This looks like a bobcat with some serious regrets.
Apparently it climbed up this power line pole and then had a total freak out about getting back down.
So authorities brought in a cherry picker and had to nudge the cat to get it to move!
Eventually it got the message and climbed back down.
Remind me never to call those guys if I'm stuck up a pole.

GIRAFFE GETS SOME SPECIALY LITTLE LEG CASTS
It's not every day you see a baby giraffe walking around in fancy footwear!
This one week old was born with some leg issues.
So vets at a zoo in Seattle decided to custom-make two casts to fit his long, thin legs!
He'll have to wear the boots for a few months but hopefully they'll set him straight.
