Pyongyang Arch of Reunification North Korea April 2012
A 2 minute view of the Arch of Reunification, a sculptural arch located in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. It was constructed in 2001 to commemorate Korean reunification proposals put forward by Kim Il-sung. The concrete arch straddles the multi-laned Reunification Highway leading from Pyongyang to the DMZ. It consists of two Korean women in traditional dress (choson-ot)—symbolizing the North and South, leaning forward to jointly uphold a sphere bearing a map of a reunified Korea. The plinth of the structure is engraved with messages of support for re-unification and peace from various individuals, organizations and nations.
???????? 360° Inside North Korea: Arch Of Reunification (조국통일3대헌장기념탑) | Pyongyang, North Korea
A short 360° video of the Arch Of Reunification, just south of Pyongyang - and on the main highway to the DMZ border with South Korea, symbolically. If you ever go to this monument, more likely than not, you will be headed for the drive down to the DMZ ... which is an apt way to start the morning, given that the status of a unified Korea will be the theme for the rest of the day! =]

A Tour of North Korean Architecture in Pyongyang
The architecture of Pyongyang is one of the DPRK's highlights.
In any socialist regime, architecture plays a key part in the process of building up a new social and political environment following revolutionary events. The total destruction of Pyongyang during the Korean War gave Korean architects and construction workers a clean slate from which to build a perfect socialist capital anew, and they seized upon that opportunity with relish.

6 Peace walk begins in North Korea at the Arch of Reunification
In this footage we begin our walk for peace in North Korea at the famous Arch of Reunification in Pyongyang. Thousands of North Korean women joined us there.
I'm @colbay on Twitter and Periscope. I went to cross the Korean DMZ on May 24, 2015 with a delegation of 30 scholars, activists, artists, writers, film makers to bring global attention to the need for a Peace Treaty there. I live streamed from North Korea to bring everyone along on this amazing journey via a mobile app called Periscope.
Unfortunately Periscope deletes all streams after 24 hours so I've uploaded the raw footage from them here. In the videos you hear me sometimes responding to comments by viewers, the visual overlay of which, also unfortunately, there was no way to save. On the other hand, often it was inappropriate or impossible for me to talk in the context shown, so there's no ongoing commentary by me.
These were the first live streaming of its kind from inside North Korea. Details on the tech front here:

In this video, I cover;
- Kim Il Sung Square
- The Juche Tower
- The Party Foundation Monument
- The Arch of Reunification
Which North Korean monuments do you want to see next time?

Hello! I'm Zoe and I'm from the UK. I'm here to give you a different insight into North Korea, from someone who has called it their second home for more than 2 years.
I'm not here to play into the media role of saying how crazy and terrifying North Korea is. There are plenty of vlogs out there who give you that experience.
I'm here to give facts, answer questions, and show a human insight into the DPRK (North Korea).

???? Visit to the Strange Land of North Korea (DPRK)
This is a film about a traveller in the strange land called North Korea or officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Tours to the DPRK are tightly scheduled and normally include a visit to the demilitarised zone, museums and statues to Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il, Pyongyang’s amusements parks, chandelier-laden metro system and showcase entertainment facilities such as the Circus and the SchoolChildren's Palace. In addition to these, I took a flightseeing flight on a Mi-17 helicopter over the DPRK's capital city of Pyongyang. As well, as my tour was an extended one, it also went the northeast of the DPRK to the tri-country area around the Rason Special Economic Zone where the DPRK, China and Russia conjoin.
The cult of the Kims is perhaps the most extraordinary feature of the DPRK. Images or statues of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il are found everywhere. These graven images are effectively worshipped. This film shows scenes of the veneration of the Kims (Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il) that were witnessed.
The government guides control both what you can see and also what you can take photographs of. If you take a photograph of the military, construction or something that they feel does not portray the DPRK in a positive light then they force you to delete the photograph. On exiting the country, the border guards also reviewed photographs to see if they conformed to the aforementioned standards. Despite these restrictions, this film contains images that accurately portray the state of the country as I saw it.
