Archaeological Museum of Ancient Mycenae
version en français plus bas .
The Archaeological Museum of Mycenae Greece, Peloponnese: The Archaeological Museum of Mycenae is found at the entrance of the ancient site, just few steps before the Lion Gate. The idea for the construction of this museum right next to the ancient site belongs to late archaeologist Giorgos Mylonas, member of the Greek
Archaeological Society. The works for its construction began in 1985 and the museum was finally inaugurated in 2003.The exhibits come from Mycenae and the wider region and represent time periods from the Copper Period around 3,000 B.C. till the Hellenistic time in the 2nd century B.C. There are about 2,500 exhibits, mostly ceramic vases, jewelry, wall paintings, tools and weapons.
The jewelry pieces are very impressive, made of gold and with complicated designs. In one of the rooms you can also see a copy of the Golden Mask of Agamemnon, a grave mask that was found in the Treasury of Atreus. The original mask, a funeral mask made of pure gold, is kept in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. It is not exactly proved but archaeologist Schliemann, who first excavated Mycenae, believed it was the funeral mask of king Agamemnon.

Cycladic Society 5000 years ago
In 2016 the Museum of Cycladic Art celebrates 30 years of creative presence with an exhibition entitled “Cycladic Society 5,000 Years Ago” open from early December 2016 to late March 2017.
Since no written documents of the Early Cycladic period survive, this exhibition attempts to “read” in a simple and straightforward manner the social structure, activities, living environment, and, where possible, convictions and beliefs of the Cycladic islanders in the Early Bronze Age (3,200-2,000 BC) through their creations.
Τhe exhibition is organized by the Museum of Cycladic Art in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades and it houses 191 ancient artefacts:from its own collections, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Cyclades (98 artefacts come from the Museums of Naxos, Apeiranthos, Syros and Paros) as well as the National Archaeological Museum and the Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Museum.
The Hellenistic Mosaics Of Paros, Greece
This is a video on the Hellenistic mosaics on the island of Paros, Greece that I visited in 2019. What is really interesting about the mosaic here is that, although a very small site it gives us an important bridge between the Greek pebble mosaics and the cut tesserae ones more commonly seen. Dated to the 4th to 3rd century BCE they show pebble mosaics, opus palladium and the more regular cut tesserae mosaics
If you want to visit the site then you will find it behind the Archaeological Museum on Paros. Just go over the main road and you will see the small site just up a side road.

Aphrodite in all her glory at Florence's Archaeological Museum
An exquisite marble statue that's long been part of the collection at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze was recently restored by the charitable association Friends of Florence; in the process, restorers and researchers were able to confirm definitively that it depicts Aphrodite, Greek goddess of beauty.

Family Day Fun in Athens: Hop-on-Hop-Off Bus & National Archaeological Museum Tour
This was day 3 in Athens and we decided to get our history fix by visiting the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, Greece. This museum houses many of Greece's historical gems, including the iconic Mask of Agamemnon. This was a fun family travel day that was slightly more laid back.
Robyn, who is an Art History amateur, provides the tour in a laid-back manner. I tried not to interrupt her too much with my questions since I am not even an amateur at this!
What are some of your favourite things to do in Athens?
Hope you enjoy!
About us: We are Daniel, Robyn, Ava, Rose and Ella, and together we are The Go To Family. We love to travel! We also love food, exploring historical sites and, of course, doing loads of fun things together as a family.
In our videos, you will see me and Robyn tackle every obstacle that traveling with kids throws at us. We do traveling almost exactly the same way we did before having kids, it just takes a little bit more planning these days. The result, however, is simply more fun! It's also very rewarding to be able to show the kids new cultures and live new experiences with them at the same time. Our mission is to inspire other Millennials to travel with kids.
Our 7-year-old daughter, Ava, also has her own YouTube channel. Feel free to check it out right here:

GREECE: Island of NAXOS, EXPLORING the beautiful OLD VENETIAN MARKETS ????️
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit the OLD MARKET area which is, in fact, the area within the old castle walls at Naxos town. The streets are typically narrow with stone built walls that are lined with mostly tourist shops. This is probably the best place to go if travelling the island to find gifts for those back home is not your thing.
A very wide variety of stores are to be found here including jewelers with some pretty impressive and original designs. Naturally the height of the tourist season will give you a sense of the hustle and bustle of the island but it gets very pronounced in the narrow streets of the old market and it can be a bother or very exciting depending on what you like. There are a number of bars in the old market and night life is quite lively with a very Greek flavor which I found to be genuine and fun.
Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean, the largest of the Cyclades island group. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach. The namesake capital (also called Hora or Chora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro, a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, houses an archaeological museum.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

GREECE, EXPLORING ancient (13th century) Byzantine abandoned church ⛪ outside of ATHENS
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit, briefly, this ancient Byzantine church, located around 60 kilometers south of the Greek capital of Athens. It s abandoned and lonely but its architecture is so beautiful, I estimated that it was built around the 13th century AD.
Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.
