City in Spain
Badajoz is a city in southwest Spain. It’s known for its Moorish historic quarter with the fortresslike Cathedral of San Juan Bautista. Overlooking the city, the Alcazaba of Badajoz is a Moorish citadel with fortified walls and verdant gardens.
It also encompasses the Provincial Archaeological Museum and the 12th-century Espantaperros Tower. Castelar Park features palm trees and statues of local cultural figures.

The 1812 siege of Badajoz.
Just some vision and pics of this amazing fortress, that saw 5000 allied British/ Portugese casualties, as well as 1500 besieged French casualties.
Its well worth visiting this beautiful Spanish city. You will be amazed at the immensity of the task that faced Wellington and his troops on that fateful night.

The archaeological site of the Castrejón de Capote is located at the end of Higuera la Real (Badajoz), in the Sierra Suroeste Region of Extremadura, at the confluence of the Álamo and Sillo rivers. Called The Lost City of the Celts of Beturia, it is an exceptional archaeological site. Its state of conservation and the remains found make it one of the most outstanding references of Beturia Celtica.
The discovery of the Celtic town of Capote begins with the discovery of a slab with tartésica writing, which was part of the lintel of one of the huts, and is currently located in the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Badajoz.
The archaeological remains that we can contemplate in the deposit belong to the last phase of the poblamiento, and they are dated in the Second Age of the Iron, between centuries V - I a.C.
Before visiting the village, it is highly recommended to visit the Interpretation Center. According to a sign at the entrance. The days that are open to the public are from Thursday to Sunday and all holidays.
Archaeological Ensemble of Mérida (UNESCO/NHK)
The colony of Augusta Emerita, which became present-day Mérida in Estremadura, was founded in 25 B.C. at the end of the Spanish Campaign and was the capital of Lusitania. The well-preserved remains of the old city include, in particular, a large bridge over the Guadiana, an amphitheatre, a theatre, a vast circus and an exceptional water-supply system. It is an excellent example of a provincial Roman capital during the empire and in ...

EGYPT 204 - The COLOSSI of MEMNON - (by Egyptahotep)
The Colossi of MEMNON are two gigantic Statues of Amenhotep III were originally situated ahead of his Mortuary temple, which was destroyed for unknown reasons (surely an Earthquake) The two colossi are made of sandstone, which during ancient times was brought from Gebel El Silsila. Each colossus, including the pedestal and the crown, is about 21m tall and represents King Amenhotep III seating on his throne, wearing the Nemes, (royal headdress), with the divine cobra protecting his forehead. On the sides of the colossi there is a representation of the Nile god Hapi, bending together the lotus and the papyrus plants, symbolizing the union of Upper and Lower Egypt.(Sema Tawi). Also you can see Queen Tiye (his Wife) upon and laterally the base of statues
Parts of the northern statue cracked and fell during an earthquake in 27 BC.This Statue sometimes makes strange sounds with the wind, this sound is as the statue sings.this originated some myths and legends.

Visit Mérida, a UNESCO World Heritage site
Whoever visits Mérida will see the past transmuted into an object of leisure and education, one of the successes of its museums and exhibitions. Occasionally, the ruins awaken from their lethargy and host, just as they did in their heyday, under the timeless cloak of culture, the Classical Theatre Festival. The visit to Mérida enables you to discover, in order, numerous pieces belonging to a cultural jigsaw that houses more than seven centuries of the old history of Spain.
Visit Spain and discover what Mérida can offer you:
