The night started out slow but finished off in a spectacular show at the end. All photos were taken f2.8, 8 second exposure and ISO 2000. For some reason the camera wouldnt pick up on a lower ISO like it normally does hence the slightly lower quality. Each frame is 0.25 seconds
Whale Watching Tromso Arctic Norway II
January 16th, 2016 I follow out on the fjords with my colleague Marcus, in for his whale watching tour. We started the tour out from Lauklines Kystferie, in Kattfjord, and sailed out to Håja (the model for the Arctic Cathedral), and then towards Sommarøy.
Pity, but I forgot my zoom and had only with me the Aurora lens, 14-24 mm, so I decided me for quit the pictures and do filming instead with my Nikon D7000, and it went it to a great success.
It was a crazy day out on the fjords together with the humpback whales. Just loved it..;)

CHEAPEST way to see Aurora Lights - Dream Come True
Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern lights is a MUST see experience and this is how you do it CHEAP.
Filmora9 is now officially released. Download Now:
Price: USD59.99/Lifetime - Thanks for sponsoring today's video!
As a South or North American, the cheapest way to see Aurora is in Whitehorse Yukon, Canada. I compared it with all other options from Canada to Alaska, USA and from transportation to accommodations, Yukon is the place to do it!

Last year I also saw the solar winds in Yellowknife NWT and although I got the best northern lights there, I prefer Yukon for it's beautiful landscape. Manitoba also offers some Aurora borealis in the north of the province but it's very expensive to get there. This is why Whitehorse is the cheapest and my top pick for Aurora.

DINNER AT THE ARCTIC CIRCLE - FINGER ROCK MOUNTAIN - DALTON HIGHWAY EXPEDITION - LeAw Vlog #056
Welcome to our channel! We are Sara and Luca, Italian couple and travel storytellers!
Make sure you SUBSCRIBE to this channel so you don't miss out on future adventures.
We left you on Vlog #055 that we had just crossed the Yukon River.
Da day is still really long. We are driving on the Danton Highway on our Arctic Ocean Expedition.
The James Dalton Highway is a legendary road.
More info at
As we told you, the pipeline will be with you all the road up to the Arctic Ocean, get used to seeing it all the time.
Our next stop is at the Finger Mountain - Finger Rock - The alpine tundra is amazing. Lichens and white mountain avens dominate the well-drained rocky ridges, while the more saturated soils alongside the road are covered by dense stands of dwarf shrubs. Beautiful views. Finger Rock (elev. 1,875 feet - 571 meters) stands out on the horizon.
Tors are visible for several miles in this area, but Finger Rock is the iconic one. They are date back to the Cretaceous period nearly 110 million years ago. Prehistoric hunting sites are also numerous in this region.
As you can see in the video we made a drone footage all-round Finger Rock. On the hike to get to the tor, there are good opportunities for picnicking, photography, berry picking (blueberries, low-bush cranberries) in season, wildflower viewing, bird watching and seeing arctic ground squirrels.
Our last stop for the day is at the Arctic Circle BLM Wayside with picnic tables scattered through pristine woods, grills, pit toilets and litter barrels.
The Arctic Circle sign, with a big blue earth and Latitude 66°33' on it, is a popular photo op with travelers. At this latitude (N 66°33' W 150° 48'), the sun does not set on the summer solstice (June 20 or 21) and it does not rise on the winter solstice (December 21 or 22). A third of Alaska lies within the Arctic Circle, the only true polar region in the state.
No camping fee. Watch for bears! Many people enjoy staying here so they can say we spent the night on the Arctic Circle! and we did it as well after an amazing barbecue.
Are you ready to travel with us?
Leave everything and wander” is the result of Sara Bertagnolli’s and Luca Sguazzini’s desire to join their own skills and realize a dream: that of traveling, leaving the certainties and securities of everyday life behind.
After university Sara achieved high-level professional goals in the field of management and became the personal assistant to the fashion designer Philipp Plein.
Luca has been traveling a lot since he was a child and the last year he gained notoriety for his participation in the Italian version of “Dancing with the stars”; he has more than 138k followers on Instagram and 50k on Facebook.
They have decided to join forces and to tell a life out of the ordinary on social networks. The plan is to travel through Canada, Alaska and, in a second moment, United States, Messico and South America and to share the trip’s photos and videos on Youtube, Facebook and Instagram, giving to everyone the possibility to experience the “wander-spirit”.
Traveling without temporal or spatial limits will give Sara and Luca the possibility to entangle their story with that of people they will meet on the road and to discover new cultures, visiting also the places which are not famous, the ones which often have the biggest surprises in store.
The start-up budget will be limited in order to demonstrate that – also without great economical resources – everything is possible if you put the work in and involve as many people as possible.

Northern Lights Cruise - P&O Oriana - March 2018 - Day 5&6 Tromsø
Here is our Vlog from days 5&6 including our day (6) in the very pleasant port of Tromsø. Day 5 was cut a little short as the Captain took us through some very rough seas. She informed us the next day she was pushing the ship as fast as it would go to keep us on track, which made for a very bumpy ride with some huge swells.
But hey ho, we survived ! :)
When in port in Tromsø we went for a walk from the town to a little Parish church up on the hill. Later in the evening we went on a Northern Lights hunt, which was eventful as the guides took us about 150 miles to try and get some clear skies. That meant we actually crossed the border in Finland. Was a bit concerned that we might not make it back to the ship before it left at 3am, but we made it... just! :)
Northern Lights Small Group Tour | Finland & Norway | 50 Degrees North
Our small group tour to Finland and Norway (Lapland) had a great deal of fun and adventure. Northern Lights & fairytale winter white landscapes, Scandinavian tour leader, boutique accommodation and lots of inclusions made for a terrific small group tour.
Join our exclusively escorted Nordic winter small group journeys to Northern Scandinavia each winter. We will take you snow mobile riding, dog mushing and reindeer sledding; all under the spectacle of the Northern Lights.
We travel through beautiful winter landscapes, blanketed in snow from Finnish Lapland, the incredible wild scenery of coastal Norway and the original ICEHOTEL located in the little village of Jukkasjärvi. This trip is designed to maximise the chances of seeing the Northern Lights, as you spend the complete 14 days travelling through the Aurora Zone.
We stay in cosy family run lodges, central hotels and cabins, enjoying winter activities and hot chocolates by the fire. Experience a Nordic winter in a small and exclusive group accompanied by private escorts and guides.
Why travel with 50 Degrees North:
+ There are many reasons to book your Nordic, Russian or Arctic holiday with us, and here are a few to think about;
+ You get to speak with a passionate local Scandinavian with first hand knowledge from the region.
+ All our sales staff and owners are Scandinavians, and we know our home region like the back of our hand. This expertise is unique in the industry, and adds significant value to each and every booking, ensuring our customers have the best possible holiday experience.
+ As Scandinavians we have a strong relationship with local suppliers and hoteliers. We contract directly with local guides, hoteliers and transport companies. There are no middlemen taking a cut, and our rates are competitive. That said; we are not in the game of competing for the cheapest available rate of the day. The personal touch and care we provide to every trip we put together goes far beyond anything offered through an online booking site.
+ We keep updated on local conditions to benefit your holiday. This may include; a) knowledge on which areas of town have building works taking place which may affect your good nights sleep; b) knowledge of which cruise ship may be docking in small fjord villages when you happen to be there seeking peace and quiet; c) alternative transport options taking you away from the crowds.
+ 50 Degrees North has offices in Lillehammer, Norway, as well as Melbourne, Australia and will be able to respond to sales and operational enquiries in two time zones.

If you told me you didn't want to spend a few hours of your day with 300 huskies, I'd call you a liar. What an amazing experience! I just got back from visiting the Tromsø Villmarkssenter, where they keep sled dogs. The dogs are really well looked after, and it's great to see how deeply the staff and owners care about the dogs!

Northern Lights In Alaska, Chena Hot Springs & Ice Museums | Go North Ep 17
This episode takes us to back to Fairbanks, Alaska for a fall adventure with some friends from Battle Born Batteries. We visit the Chena Hot Springs Resort for a soak and a visit to the Aurora Ice Museum. Our group also flies up to the arctic for a tour down the Dalton Highway where we experienced the best Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights display of the trip yet. We visited North Pole, Alaska for some Christmas spirit available year-round then stopped over at Denali National Park to see it in its fall glory. Leaving Fairbanks we head south as the weather cools off but make one last stop in the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge and visit Deadman Lake Campground for a bit of downtime before crossing back to Canada.

Exploring the Northern Lights | Planet Cruise Weekly
We are taking a look at one of the world’s natural beauties. We are looking at the dancing aurora’s known as Aurora Borealis or better known as The Northern Lights:
The a natural phenomenon occurs in the night sky when solar winds flow and hit gas molecules which light up, with a green tint forming a waving diaphanous light that can last for hours.
You can sometimes get some truly magnificent greens, blues, pinks purples and reds dancing amongst the sky. It is an astonishing and awe-inspiring sight that can be seen as far south as Mexico but it is most often spotted in high latitude regions such as the Arctic and Antarctica. For us British Cruisers, Cruises to Northern Norway and Iceland offer a high chance of seeing the Northern Lights between the months of September and April. Sometimes you can even see them from Scotland and Ireland. It is especially good to see the lights from the deck of a cruise ship, which avoids light pollution from towns and cities and gives an even better view than on land.
