Ardales National park is known as the Spanish Lake District set high up in the mountains.
Malaga's Lake District is in fact three reservoirs formed by dams built across the extraordinary Guadalhorce river gorge, which is called the Garganta del Chorro.
Ardales Lakes
Turquoise coloured lakes surrounded by woodland are the most unexpected sites in Andalucia. The “Lake Districts” of Andalucia are only 6 km from El Chorro and are a favourite weekend escape from the city of Malaga.

2017 - Espagne : El Caminito del Rey in 4K
The Caminito del Rey (Little King's Path, sometimes shortened to Camino del Rey or King's Way) is a via ferrata hung along a steep wall in a parade of gorges (El Chorro - Los Ardales Nature Park). south of Spain.
Located on the side of the cliff, where the Guadalhorce River flows, this road was built between 1901 and 1905, for the purpose of the construction of two hydroelectric dams.
The path was three kilometers long and one meter wide. It had been dug into the rock, and consisted of reinforced concrete slabs, supported by rails and fixed to the side of a cliff. It overhangs the river a good hundred meters in places.
The road was restored in 2014, and the renovation techniques are very similar to those used during its construction of 1901 in 1905. The old road was nicknamed the most dangerous of the world and it reopened its access in 2015.
It is now completely secure and accessible to families. However, to maintain its impressive appearance, a balcony with glass floor overlooking the river.
Attention, if the wind exceeds 35 km / h on the bridge allowing the passage of a cliff to another, you will be forced to return another time and this was our case.
You have to go very early in the morning (before 11 am because less wind), you will have the opportunity to take tickets at the entrance (which is 1.3 or 2.5 km depending on the choice of path)

Spain: Fancy a stroll along this SHEER-DROP path?
A footpath that has become notoriously known as the world's most dangerous footpath, wedged into the walls of a gorge in El Chorro, Malaga province, was officially re-opened to press on Sunday.
The 'Caminito del Rey', which translates as 'King's Pathway', was originally shut down by authorities for security reasons after five hikers died crossing the path between 1999 and 2000. The 2.5-mile (4km) long, metre-wide (3.2ft) path has now been reinforced with an extra security fence.

MOST DANGEROUS TOURIST PLACE El CAMINITO DEL REY Spain
Ascent to the peak of the convent - Ardales - malaga
The route suitable for the general public with a comfortable layout, once we Ardales, we headed towards the tunnel about 150 meters long, throwing a little eye to the restaurant the kiosk,
Once we crossed the tunnel and a few meters down, right, take a path that leads to the peak.
The path winds its way through high bushes and rosemary also jara, bring us up a hill near the summit before us right at all times from there around the same for his side east-southeast, we arrived without major complications in antecumbre, where the ground is softened, before facing a small stretch of climb that could access most of the group we headed up there, like a few we fall behind and we went to see and enjoy the views of the gorge of the Gaitanes, because there is another path that led us directly to Pico del Convento.
Once we climbed 618 meters to the peak, the panoramic views are wonderful, so we take a moment for the enjoyment of the senses and after pictures of rigor, we began to descend, this time on the road that goes around, and tunecillo few meters from the right, began to relieve the stomach, that if everyone in between bites we had set eyes on the prize of Gaitanejo, so once after testing response and homemade donuts divine we got to descend in search of the gorge.
Gaitanes Gorge is a canyon carved by the river Guadalhorce, with access from the north by the Guadalhorce reservoirs and from the south by the jet, which at some points only 10 feet wide and reaches a depth of 700 meters .
The construction of a water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro to use here the drop in hydroelectric plants, involves a 'way' of maintaining that channel, known as the Caminito del Rey because the work was unveiled by King Alfonso XIII. This road about 3 kilometers in length has a breathtaking part of concrete and steel bars driven into the vertical wall and a bridge over the gorge itself on the waterway. Today its use has been banned since 2000, since it is very deteriorated.
