Lake Tinn Norway - One of Europe’s Deepest Lakes
Enjoy this video of Lake Tinn Norway - One of Europe’s Deepest Lakes
Lake Tinn is one of the deepest lakes in Europe. At it's deepest point it is over 1500 metres in depth.
At the bottom of the lake sits the wreck of the ferry carrying the heavy water from the Rjukan Hydro Plant. The ferry was sabotaged by the local resistance in World War 2 to stop the production of an atomic bomb by the Nazis.
If your staying in Rjukan then put Lake Tinn on your list of places to visit while in Norway.
Tinnsjå (English: Lake Tinn also called Tinnsjø and Tinnsjøen, is one of the largest lakes in Norway, and one of the deepest to be found in Europe. It is located between the municipalities of Tinn and Notodden in Telemark county, Norway.
At its source the Måna river flows out of Møsvatn and past Rjukan into Tinnsjå. From the north end, the river Mår flows from the Mår, Gøystavatn, and Kalhovdfjorden lakes into Tinnsjå. Tinnsjå is part of the Skiensvassdrag, and drains via the Tinnelva river in the south, down to Heddalsvatn.
