The two top states for dairy production in the U.S. are California and Wisconsin. Both churn out more cheese, milk and butter than most countries around the world. And the battle for supremacy continues between the states. Which makes the better cheese? Which produces more milk? In this special episode we look at the similarities and differences in dairy farming in the states.

WDE11 Progressive Dairyman Proud to Dairy Map
For the second year, Progressive Dairyman staff asked those who passed by our booth in the Arena Building to place a sticker on our map, which featured both the United States and a global section to highlight international visitors. Not surprisingly, Wisconsin received the most stickers, but we were amazed that nearly all of the 50 U.S. states received at least one dot.

Green Bay Gamblers Dairy Day
Green Bay Gamblers Celebrate Dairy Day recently as interactive dairy activities during the hockey game informed attendees how Wisconsin's dairy farm families are working 365 days a year to produce a safe, high quality, wholesome product — Milk. With Dairy Day sponsored by Pagel's Ponderosa Dairy of Kewaunee, Boumatic and Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board organizers showcased how Wisconsin dairy products provide a powerful package of nine essential nutrients — that helps keep bones strong and bodies healthy. Highlights of the day included helping to drop the puck to kick-off the game. The first break in the game brought out crowd pleasing dairy games that included cream puff eating, milk chugging from a calf bottle and ice cream eating contests by teams of dairy producers along with event attendees on the ice!
Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Haymarket District in Milwaukee (#801)
[Original Airdate: January 4, 2019]
Milwaukee’s Haymarket District may get its name from the past, but it’s the present and future of this perfectly situated, downtown Milwaukee neighborhood that has long-time tenants and developers alike singing this neighborhoods’ praises. For residents of Hillside and businesses like Bennett Coachworks and Miller Baking Company, this is just home. For places like Fiserv Forum and the new development coming to the old National Hardware building, it’s becoming home. And for the kids who learn at Golda Meir School and play at the Hillside Boys and Girls Club, it’s their home away from home. Any way you look at it, it’s nice to be home in the Haymarket.

Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Plymouth (#401)
[Latest Airdate: August 17, 2017]
[Original Airdate: January 8, 2015]
Plymouth is a community of Makers: Sargento makes cheese, Drewry Farms makes maple syrup, artists make art (don’t say it - duh!), Plymouth Foam makes those giant foam airplanes, Shelly makes cupcakes, a myriad of volunteers help Linda make Camo Quilts, Road America makes John’s adrenalin pump, Allechant Boutique makes men long for the good old days, and John Gurda, by asking us to meet him at a Giant Cow, made our day!
Know what else is made in Plymouth? Friendships, fun and a lasting impression that will always bring a warm spot to our hearts – which is a good thing since it was about 20 degrees when we started shooting. But still, we couldn’t have asked for a warmer start to Season 4. Plymouth is like a favorite sweater – comfy cozy!

Parson on Tariffs, Wants Even Playing Field
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri's agriculture exports could end up costing more for other countries to buy thanks to a brewing trade war.
The latest country to impose tariffs on U.S. goods in retaliation to our countries new fees -- China.
We spoke with Missouri Gov. Mike Parson today about this issue.
Needless to say as the governor of the state of Missouri we're concerned about tariffs and how they're going to affect our farmers in this state, Parson said. However, I do think that it is long overdue that we renegotiate, that we need to do things to make the playing field even without trade with foreign counties and everything.
However, Parson tells us he knows this could have an impact in Missouri.
He spoke with the president about the hardships tariffs could cause a few weeks ago.
He says he's trying to work with U.S. lawmakers to make sure Missouri's concerns are heard.
KOLR10 has been reporting on tariffs affecting local businesses over the past few weeks.
