My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
Must see in Israel: Ariel Sharon Park
This hidden gem next to Tel Aviv should be on your list when visiting Israel! It's one of the biggest environmental rehabilitation projects in the world - a beautiful park to visit.

The Hiriya site received waste and worked as a landfill from 1952 to 1999. Over time, the size of the mountain reached 450,000m², a height of 60m, and a volume of 16 million cubic meters of waste. By 1998, Hiriya was receiving 3,000 tons of household waste per day, and in 1999, as part of a process being undertaken by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the decision was made to stop dumping waste on the mountain and turn Hiriya into a transfer station.
In 2001, the Dan Municipal Sanitation Association began the process of rehabilitating the mountain, with the intention of turning it into a green and flourishing park that would lead environmental change worldwide. In an international architectural competition to choose landscape architects for the rehabilitation of the mountain, Prof. Peter Latz was selected from 14 applicants from Israel and abroad – an architect with huge experience of projects of this scale around the world.
The rehabilitation of Mount Hiriya is only the first step of the construction of Ariel Sharon Park, the largest green lung of the Dan Metropolitan Area, which you will be able admire from various observation posts on the mountain.

Landfill transformed into model park
The Hiriya Recycling Park is a testament to Israel's out-of-the-box approach to greening the country.
Just outside of Tel Aviv, a half-mile long landfill was once an environmental nightmare. Basically a huge mountain of smelly garbage, Hiriya wasn't the sort of place you'd want to live near, let alone visit.
But today the site is used as an environmental educational facility, a natural bio-gas supplier and a transfer station. What's more, it will soon be the site of a family-oriented recycling park.
Doron Sapir, head of the site, explains that 84 wells were drilled into the dump to capture the methane gas produced by the rubbish. The gas is delivered by pipe to a textile plant about four kilometers from the dump, powering the entire operation.
We are an eco-ecological facility, says Sapir, showing how all materials are separated and recycled. What is unique here is that all over the world they are separating the waste in dry facilities, [using a] dry process. These Israeli guys thought the other way around: Not only are they not drying the waste, they are putting it into water!
Any day of the week, you can see schoolchildren of all ages come to visit and learn all about how to reduce, reuse and recycle.

ARIEL SHARON PARK,മാലിന്യ കൂമ്പാരത്തിനു മുകളിലെ മനോഹര പാർക്ക്
Israel's Metropolitan Park
Ariel Sharon Park is one of the biggest environmental rehabilitation projects in the world. It is unique in that this plot of land, part of which has been polluted and neglected for decades, has turned into a flourishing metropolitan park. Ariel Sharon Park is the green lung of the country's most densely populated urban region. The park is open to the general public, and has a network of hiking trails and bicycle paths across open areas, along river banks, and through shady groves, as well as areas for leisure and recreation activities.
Ariel Sharon Park covers an area of some 8,000 dunams. For the sake of comparison, just imagine the entire town of Bat Yam being a park! The park borders on the municipal authorities of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Ramat Gan, Holon, Azor, and Or Yehuda. At the center of the park is the rehabilitated mound of garbage, Hiriya - a symbol of environmental and social healing. The hill is surrounded by open areas, crossed by the channels of the Ayalon in the north and the Shapirim in the south. The park complex also includes Shalem Farm, old Bnei Brak, the Mikve Yisrael agricultural school, and Menachem Begin Park.Ariel Sharon Park is an environmental park established on the former Hiriya waste dump located southeast of Tel Aviv, Israel. After accumulating 25 million tons of waste, the facility was shut down in August 1998. It is visible on approach into Ben Gurion International Airport as a flat-topped hill.

The basic issues is whether or not we are going to vote for the disengagement which is basically yes to establishing a mini terror state headed by Hamas in Gaza, or voting no, Which is going to be against terror and for peace and doing whatever possible to really find on the other side those partners that can negotiate with us properly.

What concerns us is preserving the rights of our people. And the right of return, self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital - this is our concern. Whether it will win or not, whatever it is this is an Israeli decision. But our decision is to keep our rights and to have support for (its) achievement.

STORYLINE:
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon''s Likud Party voted on Sunday on his plan to pull out of the troubled Gaza strip.
By 8 p.m. (1700 GMT) on Sunday, only 34 percent of 193-thousand Likud members had voted.
A Gaza attack which killed a pregnant Jewish settler and her four daughters on Sunday and the low turnout were expected to help opponents of a withdrawal, part of Sharon''s plan of unilateral disengagement from the Palestinians.
Recent polls have given opponents a lead of several percentage points.
A loss for Sharon would produce a major political crisis, including a possible Cabinet reshuffle, a split in Likud or even early elections.
Sharon aides said he would likely push through with the plan regardless.
Israeli cabinet minister Uzi Landau, who has led the opposition, said that accepting the plan would lead to more terror attacks.
Although Sharon proposes an unprecedented removal of Jewish settlements from land claimed by the Palestinians, the unilateral plan has been greeted with suspicion by Palestinian officials who chafe at being sidelined and see it as a means of cementing Israel''s hold on the larger and more historically significant West Bank.
Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia, told reporters whatever it is, this is an Israeli decision adding the most important issue for him is preserving the rights of Palestinian people - the right of return, self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital - this is our concern.
The shooting attack targeted Tali Hatuel, 34, eight months pregnant, who was driving with her four young daughters, ages two to 11, from the Gush Katif block of settlements in Gaza toward Israel.
The Hatuel family was from Gush Katif, a bloc of settlements.
In all, there are 21 settlements with 7,500 Jews living amid the 1.3 (m) million Palestinians in the narrow, 40-kilometre (25-mile) long seaside strip.
More than 220-thousand settlers also live in about 150 settlements in the West Bank alongside almost three (m) million Palestinians.
Sharon proposes to dismantle four small West Bank settlements.
The Palestinians consider all Jewish settlements in the two territories Israel occupied in the 1967 war to be illegal.
