Highway 89A drive from Flagstaff to Sedona || Amazing scenic drive || Arizona State Route 89A
Upon leaving Sedona, SR 89A becomes the state designated Sedona–Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Road.[9] The highway heads northeast into a wooded area from Sedona and follows Oak Creek as it enters Oak Creek Canyon. SR 89A then curves to the north as it follows the creek and provides access to Slide Rock State Park along this portion of the highway. The roadway leaves the creek as it begins to ascend through the canyon. At the edge of the canyon, the Scenic Road designation ends.[12][8] Upon ascending, the road goes through a series of hairpin turns (no trucks over 50 ft.) towards the Mogollon Rim. The roadway continues northward away from the canyon towards Flagstaff. It curves northeastward as it passes to the west of the Forest Highlands Golf Club. The route continues to the northeast towards I-17 near Flagstaff Pulliam Airport. SR 89A begins to run concurrently with I-17 as a freeway northward. The two highways continue north to an interchange with I-40, where I-17 terminates. The route continues north along Milton Road, passing to the west of Northern Arizona University before reaching its northern terminus at I-40 Business in Flagstaff.

Sedona Arizona Road Trip, Highway 89A
After landing at the Sedona Airport we drive through downtown Sedona in search of a Mexican restaurant named the Javelina Cantina Sedona. The food was great and the salsa was fantastic. Really enjoyed it. After that we left Sedona and traveled on Arizona 89A up to Flagstaff where our hotel was. The story I'm telling about a crash at the airport happened on october 8th , 2013 as we were inbound and forced us to divert to Flagstaff. A single engine Mooney was landing on runway 21 with a strong gusty wind and he touched down fast and long. The pilot then tried to go around. On either end of the runway is a drop off and the Mooney and it's 3 occupants went off the edge, 250 feet down the side of the mountain. Fortunately all three survived but, the airport was closed till the next day. Things to do in Sedona AZ.
