18 students from around the world attended the 2011 Adventure in Tourism program sponsored by the the Ogopogo Rotary Club of Kelowna BC, Canada. The students this year came from Australia, Scotland, France and Canada. This program has been offered for the past 4 years.
Students are selected from their communities by local Rotary Clubs to attend a tourism career educational program. Students visit and learn from key Okanagan Valley destination venues about their staffing and operations programs.
This year students had a great opportunity to exchange information with leaders within the Okanagan Valley Tourism Industry. The program kicked off at Okanagan College with a team building icebreaker event and BBQ, and ended with an awards banquet in the OC Campus Dining room.
Students provided daily learning highlights and used personal journals to capture their own learnings from the days events.

Honeybees and blueberry fields in British Columbia
Julia Common has been a beekeeper for more than 40 years. For the last seven, her honeybees have pollinated blueberry fields each spring, but she, and other beekeepers, are worried it might be making their colonies sick.
This year she’s participating in a study that will investigate whether bees really are worse off after blueberry pollination and what factors might be contributing to the problem. The results matter for both honeybees and blueberries, an important B.C. crop that is dependent on pollination.
