I’m joined by men and women in the Kesh and Armagh Gaol
Well It all began the morning I was dragged to Castlereagh
And though it was three years ago it seems like yesterday
For three days kicked and beaten and then I was forced to sign
Confessions that convicted me of deeds that were not mine
Sentenced in a Diplock court my protest it began
I could not wear their prison gear, I was a Blanket Man
I’ll not accept their status I’ll not be criminalised
That’s the issue in the Blocks for which we give our lives
Over there in London town, oh how they’d laugh and sneer
If they could only make us wear their loathsome prison gear
Prisoners of War is what we are and that we must remain
The Blanket Protest cannot end till our status we regain
I’ve been beaten round the romper room because I won’t say sir
I've been frogmarched down the landing and pulled back by the hair
I’ve suffered degradation, humility and pain
Still the spirit does not falter, British torture is in vain
I’ve been held in scalding water my skin with deck scrubs was torn
I've been scratched and cut from head to foot and thrown out on the floor
I've suffered mirror searches probed by drunken bears
I’ve listened to my comrades cry and scream and utter useless prayers
Now with the news that’s coming in, our Protest must not fail
For now we're joined by thirty girls in Armagh's Womens jail
So pay attention Irishmen and Irishwomen too
Show the Free State rulers, their silence will not do
Though its ninety miles from Dublin it seems so far away
There's more attention to our plight in the USA

Dessie Grew was shot 48 times and Martin McCaughey 12 times close to a farm building near Lislasley Road, near Loughgall, County Armagh.. It later emerged that an IRA arms dump within the building had been under surveillance and the RUC had prior intelligence that the two men were due to visit. No attempt was made to arrest either man despite the fact that both were unarmed.

Fugitive belfast prisoner james valliday back in jail as brother remains on run
A prisoner who was on the run from Northern Irelands top security jail for more than a month has been remanded back into custody. James Valliday had been unlawfully at large from Maghaberry Prison since November 9. He and his brother Charlie were both granted compassionate bail to attend a relatives funeral. However, the pair failed to return to custody. The PSNI launched an appeal to help trace the brothers and while 52yearold James was apprehended in the early hours on Sunday, Charles Valliday 45 remains at large. Following his arrest in north Belfast on Sunday, James Valliday was produced at Belfast Crown Court yesterday. Asked by the clerk of the court Are you James Valliday?, the defendant replied Yes, love. A detective inspector confirmed that Charles Valliday was apprehended after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Judge David McFarland said that in the circumstances, he was going to remand Charles Valliday into custody. The accused was then led from the dock in handcuffs. Bot...

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales visits Armagh Gaol
We are working with local stakeholders to restore and re-use Armagh's historic Gaol. It is one of Northern Ireland's most important heritage sites - it has been vacant for 20 years and is on the Built Heritage at Risk list. We are working to restore it and and open it a mixed-use development, including a boutique hotel. This development has the potential to create a hub of economic and social activity that will act as a catalyst for wide-spread regeneration.
His Royal Highness visited in April 2012 to see the site and meet those involved in the project. It was a hugely successful day and the visit will further inspire and excite the local community about the site's regeneration.

Peter Corrigan Armagh 1935 - 1982
Peter Corrigan who was murdered by Pro-British forces in his native Armagh City on 25th October 1982. Peter was the father of eleven children and had been a former Republican internee, IRA volunteer and Sinn Fein activist. Murdered by the PAF a cover name for the UDR, a UDR soldier was given a life sentence for Peter's murder, a day after appearing in court he became a former member of the UDR.
Britain fails to extradite IRA M60 Gang Volunteer Angelo Fusco
Fusco & his unit killed at least 3 RUC & 2 British soldiers with their M60 Machine Gun in late 70's & 1980. At their trial in 1981 the unit escaped from Crumlin Jail shooting dead a prison guard on their way out. Some footage from 1980 of Antrim Road siege & funeral of the SAS soldier killed.
