Take a tour of Akershus Fortress in Oslo, Norway -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The Akershus Fortress in Oslo is one of Norway's most important military and historical landmarks.
It was built in the late 13th century and modernized in the early 17th century.
This impressive defensive position has never been captured in its long existence.
The Norwegian military still owns the Akershus Fortress, but opens it to visitors daily.
The fort is also the location for the Armed forces museum.
Besides a military base, it has served as a prison on various occasions.
Akerhuss Fortress is an enduring part of Norway's history and is a fascinating visit.

So, our FYI reporterYolanda Vazquez recently did a tour with some past military mobile icons that fit perfectly in our MotorWeek wheel-house.

A stamp Wings for Norway was issued in Norway on March 28, 1946 in memory of the Norwegian fighter pilots trained at Little Norway in Canada. But did you know that this stamp almost was issued in Canada in 1942 an interesting set of videos

Future Oslo - Cultural Center for Norwegian Waterfront by Nuan Studio
nuan studio has won the competition to design oslo‘s cultural center for norwegian waterfront (CCNW), a contemporary building that will incorporate a new public square, exhibition spaces, a library, and an auditorium. the proposal draws from the country’s mountainous landscapes and icy waterfalls, with all its elements wrapped elegantly in a monolithic crystallized glass facade and vertical features that enhance the reference to the ornament quality of frozen waterfalls.
located in the neighborhood of forsvartmuseet (the norwegian armed forces museum) and nasjonallmuseet of arkitektur (the national museum of architecture), which has become a small cultural citadel in oslo, the cultural center for norwegian waterfront (CCNW) will provide new civic spaces, where the local community will be able to share experiences of historical and cultural value. nuan studio‘s winning proposal encloses all spaces in a single glazing screen, while a warm and cozy atmosphere shines through it, contrasting the coldness of the transparent surface and the surrounding environment.
from the public square in front, visitors enter into the lobby, where a large atrium invites them through a cultural journey. halls become vantage points from which they can observe the city at different heights, while main parts of the program, such as the library, exhibition spaces and the auditorium are arranged gradually, stacking up to a 26 meter height. the roof terrace, which can be accessed at different levels, offers the best views of oslo. the building’s geometry slowly emerges from the ground up, marking its presence as new icon for the city.

Fly-in day at the Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection
Sunday 8th September 2013 the Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection, located at Gardermoen Airfield, arranged an open day or fly-in. During a sunny day, the spectators could enjoy the sight of Tiger Moth and a Bücker Jungmann from 1957, amongst other aircraft.
