STORYLINE
Thousands of young men are plunging into icy rivers and lakes across Bulgaria and Romania to retrieve crucifixes thrown by clergymen in an old ritual marking the Orthodox feast of Epiphany.
By tradition, a wooden cross is cast into the water and it is believed that the person who retrieves it will be freed from evil spirits.
In the Romanian Black Sea port of Constanta, some 3,000 Orthodox Christian believers turned out to watch priests hurl three crosses into the icy sea.
Dozens - some wearing wet suits - dived into the waters to retrieve the crosses.
The large crowd received bottles of blessed holy water after the contest.
The water is blessed during Epiphany and is said to help believers to cope with diseases and difficulties in life.

Epiphany Celebrations: Christians celebrate holiday in Istanbul
In Istanbul, Greek Orthodox Christians celebrate the epiphany by diving into the Bosphorus for searching a crucifix. Believers participate in the special mass in Hagia Yorgi Church, adjacent to the Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarchate's garden in Balat, Istanbul. After the ceremony, a group of priests and members of the congregation go to the Fener dock, where the patriarch throws a large crucifix into the sea. Men then jump into the freezing water, swimming to reach the cross and bring it back to dry land. Zeina Awad brings more updates.

Terrorism
ISLAM DENOUNCES TERRORISM
This film, produced by the Science Research Foundation, a Harun Yahya institution, presents the Muslim response to and denunciation of terrorism. Beginning with the event of September 11, the film explains that all kinds of violence against civilians are crimes against humanity and grave sins in religious terms. It is also stressed that terrorism is an inherent feature of secular ideologies like communism, fascism and racism. In contrast, all theistic religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - are opposed to terrorism and their ultimate goal is to bring peace and brotherhood to mankind.
