Ontario's best kept secret...might not be a secret anymore. The Ice Trail at Arrowhead Provincial Park has graduated from local folklore, to becoming a mainstay in Muskoka's winter season! Opened in 2012 on a whim and a vision, the Ice Skating Trail has become one of the region's most popular winter attractions, and one of the province's most sought after winter 'bucket list' experiences.
The 1.3 km Ice Skating trail winds through the thick Muskoka forest and is a winter experience like no other. If you get to skate the loop after a fluffy snowfall, consider yourself in luck. Being surrounded on all sides by snow-covered evergreen trees is an absolutely stunning sight, and one that you won't soon forget. Bring your family and watch your kids whip around the track with the perfect backdrop, or surprise your loved one with a romantic 'hand-holding' skate through the forest.

We took a week-long trip to Arrowhead Provincial Park near Huntsville, Ontario. Located about 3 hours north of Toronto, the beautiful park is in the heart of The Muskoka’s (aka Cottage Country).
We show you how the sites measure up here, Big Bend Lookout, and Stubb’s Falls. We also talk a little bit about why we got into the trailer life.
We’re John, Danielle and Emelia. We started camping in a trailer 7 years ago so we could go to weekend music festivals. Our first trailer was a vintage 1980 Trillium 1300 fibreglass camper. We had that 4 years before we upgraded to a 2018 Apex Nano 193 BHS because we outgrew that little egg on wheels. We’ve since outgrown that Apex in a short 2 years and are now ‘getting away’ in a 2020 Grand Design Imagine 2400BH.
We like to camp in Provincial Parks and with friends. We know that we glamp now more than we camp, but the point is we get away, out under the stars, near a camp fire and together. We prefer weeks away, but will take any opportunity to pack up and head out for a weekend too. This channel is as much about sharing our adventures for us to come back to, as it is for you to see where we go and what we do.

Five of us crammed into the Corolla and drove to Huntsville Ontario for a skate. The park was packed with others who had the same idea. We arrived at 1:45 PM not realizing that the skating did not open until 3:30PM. The bathrooms were surprisingly heated - including hot water in the tap. The ice soon became choppy with the volume of skaters and a steady snowfall made for a slow skate. We did not stay for the tiki torch lit evening skate. Snow, ice rain and a crazy highway drive made for a completely Canadian experience.
