Arrowrock Dam: A Century of Service 1915-2015
Nearly one hundred years ago, on Oct. 4, 1915, a group of Idaho citizens and the U.S. Reclamation Service celebrated the construction of Arrowrock Dam near Boise. At the time, Arrowrock Dam was the tallest dam in the world and generated national interest. Check out the latest video about this fascinating engineering marvel. #Arrowrock100
The Boise River is a ticking time bomb. Detailed look at Lucky Peak, Arrow Rock, and Flooding
A report on the Boise River and the raging waters. The water is above flood stage and the snow pack is amazing still. There is still ice on Arrow Rock! I drove to Lucky Peak and Arrow Rock dam to see the massive water release. Residents should monitor this extremely closely. When the temps rise into the 70s and 80s the reservoirs will fill quickly.
I also got to interview a Boise State Student from Bangladesh who has experienced flooding but not a flow of water like this! Also I visited homes and ponds in Eagle that the Boise River has overtaken.

Brownlee Dam On the Idaho/Oregon Border. Dams In America/United States!
Brownlee Dam is a hydroelectric earth fill embankment dam in the western United States, on the Snake River on the Idaho-Oregon border, In Hells Canyon at river mile 285, it impounds the Snake River in the 58-mile (93 km)-long Brownlee Reservoir.
It is part of the Hells Canyon Project that also includes Hells Canyon Dam and Oxbow Dam, built and operated by Idaho Power Company. The first and upper-most of the three dams, its contractor was Morrison-Knudsen of Boise. It started filling on May 9, 1958, 60 years ago, flooding the community of Robinette.
The dam's powerhouse contains five generating units with a total nameplate capacity of 585.4 megawatts.
Lacking passage for migrating salmon, the three Hells Canyon Project dams blocked access by anadromous salmonids to a stretch of the Snake River drainage basin from Hells Canyon Dam up to Shoshone Falls, which naturally prevents any upstream fish passage to the upper Snake River basin.

Normally they use the jet tubes, but for the heck of it the Corp of Engineers opens up a different outlet in the dam structure. I really think it's just for show but it's pretty cool regardless. As soon as they shut off this outlet they opened the jets.
