Exploring Siena | Small streets and Italian culture | Travel Vlog
We're in Siena and it's such a beautiful city! Lots of monuments, pretty streets, art, old churches - definitely one of our favorite towns in Italy! The buildings are more rustic than in the towns we've been in, and it somehow feels less touristy here.
Some of the streets are really steep, but we were very grateful that there weren't many places with steps because then it would have been even harder to push Max's stroller up! Morten did most of the stroller pushing, and it was quite the workout ;)

Tuscan Cooking with the Borgo Cooking School
My parents and I spent an amazing day in Tuscany, learning how to cook from top chefs of the Michelin starred Borgo Santo Pietro, a & Châteaux property. We even learned how to make pasta from an Italian mama, Mamma Olga!
From homemade ravioli to pork tenderloin and finishing with made from scratch chocolate, we prepared incredible dishes using ingredients from Borgo's farm and garden. Chef Andrea Mattei was more than friendly, approachable and knowledge and we were amazed by his culinary skills--he is a Michelin starred chef after all! Our chocolate lesson was very sweet indeed, taught by Head Pastry Chef Diego Poli.
We even were able to enjoy each course that we prepared with some wine at their al fresco dining table. We couldn't have had a more perfect, Italian day at an incredible property--Borgo Santo Pietro--and we learned something too!

Dream of Italy: Full Tuscany Episode
The first episode of Dream of Italy (new PBS travel series) starts in the heart of Tuscany – Chianti – with a visit to Castello di Ama to learn how true Chianti Classico wine is produced and see the modern art that makes up the estate. The area is also famous for olive oil and we visit Pornanino to take part in the olive harvest. Nearby host Kathy McCabe meets the very special cashmere goats that Nora Kravis raises at Chianti Cashmere Farm. Then it is off to Panzano for a wild boar hunt with the La Squadra Chiantigiana and a visit with philosophical butcher Dario Cecchini. At Busatti in Anghiari, we watch 100-year-old looms craft fine fabrics. The episode ends on the captivating coast of Tuscany in Maremma with a stunning ride with the butteri (cowboys). Special thanks to our underwriters: Viator, Ama Waterways and Perillo Tours. For more information, visit dreamofitaly.com

BBC - Italy Unpacked: The Art of the Feast
Andrew Graham-Dixon and chef Giorgio Locatelli travel through Italy exploring the country's history, culture, food, art and landscape. Their journey begins in Bologna, the capital of Emilia-Romagna, one of the richest regions in Italy. They find out why the city is know as la Dotta (the Learned), la Grassa (the Fat) and la Rossa (the Red), while visiting its shops, art institutions and the oldest university in the world.
Andrew and Giorgio experience the social and friendly atmosphere of the region and meet fishermen casting huge nets at the mouth of the river Po. From there, it is a short journey to Ferrara where they discover the legacy left by the famous dynasty d'Este, and to Modena, home of balsamic vinegar and Ferrari.
Finally, Giorgio reveals the source of modern Italian cuisine - at the Palatina Library in Parma he views an original copy of the first cook book of the newly united Italy - while Andrew admires Correggio's magnificent fresco in the dome of Parma Cathedral.
