Cette exposition se veut un joyeux uppercut asséné aux catégories instituées. Elle convoque fictions, abstractions, poésies graphiques, créations sans paroles, associations libres d’images, rencontres improbables entre le texte et le dessin… Les classifications explosent et les définitions s’érodent pour proclamer que la bande dessinée est un vaste terrain de jeu sans autres limites que l’inventivité de ses créateurs.
Avec les œuvres de : Adolpho Avril, Barbara Massart, Dominique Goblet, Dominique Théâte, Gabriel Evrard, Jean Leclercq, Jean Christophe Long, Jean-Michel Bansart, Joseph Lambert, Marcel Schmitz, Nicolas Clément, Olivier Deprez, Pascal Cornélis, Pascal Leyder, Rémy Pierlot, Sarah Albert, Serge Delaunay, Thierry Van Hasselt, Yvan Alagbé.

Deze tentoonstelling geeft de traditionele categorieën een vrolijke uppercut. Zij brengt ficties, abstracties, grafische gedichten, creaties zonder woorden, vrije beeldassociaties en onverwachte confrontaties tussen tekst en tekening samen… Genres vervagen en definities verschuiven zodat het beeldverhaal één groot speelterrein wordt, dat geen andere grenzen kent dan die van de verbeelding van de kunstenaars zelf.

This exhibition is intended as a joyous uppercut to the established categroies. It brings together fiction, abstractions, graphical poems, creations without words, free associations of images, unlikely meetings between text and drawing... The classifications are explosing and the defintions eroding to proclaim that the comic strip is a vast playground without limits other than the inventiveness of its creators...

Atelier with a view

Le art & marges musée et Wit.h ont invité 18 ateliers artistiques dans le secteur du handicap mental et de la santé mentale de Bruxelles, Flandres, Wallonie et des Pays-Bas pour réaliser un portrait audio-visuel de leur atelier. Au moyen de nouveaux médias et à partir d’un positionnement critique et créatif, chaque atelier a cherché un angle d’approche particulier permettant de saisir son essence et son esprit.
Au côté de ces portraits digitaux, un espace d’atelier sera investi par les artistes dans l’exposition.

BRAFA and IN ARTIBUS present: Miraculous Michaelina Wautier. If Rubens was a woman?

On October 13th, the IN ARTIBUS Foundation and the BRAFA Art Fair were delighted to have Prof. Dr. Katlijne Van der Stighelen (KU Leuven), who lectured on 'Miraculous Michaelina Wautier (1604-1689). If Rubens was a woman?’.

Katlijne Van der Stighelen curated the first exhibition on the 17th century painter Michaelina Wautier and her younger brother Charles Wautier (1609 -1703), after this enigmatic brother-sister pair had been forgotten for centuries. The exhibition was staged at the Antwerp Museum aan de Stroom (MAS), in collaboration with the Rubens House.

Very little is known about Michaelina Wautier herself. Her life is barely documented. Born in Mons, this artist moved to Brussels soon after 1640, together with her brother Charles. Both remained unmarried and lived in a stately town house near the Chapel Church. Michaelina distinguishes herself from her female counterparts due to her focus on many different genres. Besides taking on portraits and genre paintings, she also turned her hand to large format historical pieces – a challenge that even many male painters resisted. She effortlessly portrayed religious themes and mythological scenes. She observed everyday reality and painted both poignant children's portraits and astonishing and interesting figures.

Le témoignage de ce manque de piste cyclable ou de cette situation dangereuse pour cyclistes vient d’être ajouté au site web Velodossier.be. En effet, chez Velodossier, nous estimons qu’il est important de remédier aux situations dangereuses pour les usagers du vélo à Bruxelles. Nous souhaitions donc vous faire part de ce témoignage.

Le site Internet interactif Velodossier.be a été créé par le biais d’un projet de crowdfunding (‘Offrez-vous un bout de piste’). Son objectif est de lutter contre les endroits de la Région bruxelloise où il est très difficile voire dangereux de se déplacer à vélo. Nous estimons qu’à Bruxelles, les cyclistes méritent plus d’espace, et que les enfants devraient, eux aussi, pouvoir traverser la ville à vélo d’une façon sûre. C’est pourquoi notre site rassemble les informations de ce type. Parallèlement, nous examinons s’il existe des possibilités juridiques pour augmenter le nombre de pistes cyclables (sûres) à Bruxelles.

De getuigenis van dit onbestaand fietspad of onveilige situatie voor fietsers werd zonet aan de website Velodossier.be toegevoegd. Omdat wij van Velodossier het belangrijk vinden dat onveilige situaties voor fietsers in Brussel zichtbaar worden gemaakt, sturen wij u deze getuigenis door.

Deze interactieve website is tot stand gekomen via een project van crowdfunding (‘Geef jezelf een fietspad cadeau’) en heeft tot doel om de soms zeer benarde en gevaarlijke situaties voor fietsers in het Brussels Gewest aan te klagen. We vinden dat fietsers meer plaats verdienen. Parallel aan het verzamelen van informatie via deze website onderzoeken we of we via juridische weg meer (veilige) fietspaden in Brussel kunnen krijgen.

Michel Nedjar nous ouvre les portes de son atelier, et nous fait visiter l’exposition qui lui est consacrée au musée d’art et d’histoire du Judaïsme.
Petit-fils d’une chiffonnière des Puces, fils d’un tailleur, Michel Nedjar fabrique, dès l’enfance, des poupées de chiffons qu’il enterre. La découverte du film Nuit et Brouillard d’Alain Resnais, agit sur lui comme une déflagration. Il s’identifie aux corps des victimes ; ses premières poupées, faites de tissus trouvés dans des poubelles, qu’il plonge dans l’eau, la boue, opèrent comme des rituels de renaissance.
Sa très importante donation d'oeuvres au mahJ est l’aboutissement de longues années d’échanges, initiés en 2004 lors d’un colloque sur le « schmattès » (tissu de rebut), suivi, en 2005, par la commande d’un théâtre de Pourim intitulé Poupées Pourim, qui inaugura une nouvelle phase dans son œuvre. La découverte du sens profond de la fête des sorts, qui célèbre – par l’inversion, la transgression, le rire – le sauvetage des juifs d’une extermination programmée, a été déterminante et a donné naissance à une famille de poupées drôles, fragiles, carnavalesques, « réparées ».

BRAFA Art Talk by Dominique Allart on Breugel's Dulle Griet

Join the international BRAFA Art Fair for an art historical lecture by Dominique Allart, Professor at and director of the Department of History of Art of Modern Times (15th - 18th century) at the University of Liège, given on January 29th, 2019.

The noted Breugel family specialist re-examines the famous painting Dulle Griet by Peter Breugel the Elder (Antwerp, the Mayer van den Bergh Museum), following its recent restoration. In what context did the artist imagine and paint this strange composition? What significance would it have had at the time? These questions lead to an examination of Hieronymus Bosch’s legacy and an exploration of madness and misogyny in the 16th century.

The introduction given by Guy van Wassehove, Curator at the Fonds Baillet Latour, focusses on the work of the art restorer.

Together with the non-profit association BIAPAL, BRAFA offers inspiring Art Talks by renowned art-world personalites who specialize in curating or in the art market. They take turns to share their knowledge and expertise on diverse and fascinating subjects.

Salon ART3F - Paris - Janvier 2018

Petit tour d'horizon du 4ème Salon International d'Art Contemporain ART3F qui s'est tenu du 26 au 28 janvier 2018 au Parc des Expositions à Paris. Découvrez aussi l'envers du décor avec l'installation des stands et la folie du démontage de l'exposition. Près de 200 artistes y ont exposé leurs oeuvres. J'ai exposé également quelques-unes de mes peintures et dessins hyperréalistes (huile, acrylique, mine graphite, crayons de couleurs et stylo bille).
