Beverly Hills is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Located within 5.7 square miles and surrounded by the cities of Los Angeles and West Hollywood, the City has an estimated population of 35,000. Sometimes referred to as 90210, one of its primary ZIP codes, the City is home to many celebrities, luxury hotels, and the famous Rodeo Drive shopping district. Originally a Spanish ranch where lima beans were grown, Beverly Hills was incorporated in 1914 by a group of investors who had failed to find oil but found water instead and eventually decided to develop it into a town. By 2013, its population had grown to 34,658.
Beverly Hills is a dynamic city filled with diverse communities, beautiful architecture and palm tree-lined streets. Stay for the luxury shopping and fine dining, and depart with a deeper understanding of the fascinating neighborhoods and communities that form the beating heart of Beverly Hills. Beverly Hills is filled with some of the biggest, most luxurious homes Los Angeles has to offer. Home prices range from 1 million dollars to all the way up to 500 Million dollars!!! These luxury properties are homes to many celebrities, foreign nationals and investors. Beverly Hills consists of Trousdale Estates, Beverly Hills flats and Beverly Hills Commercial District. Beverly Hills is also part of Platinum Triangle. The Platinum Triangle is an informal name for three adjacent affluent neighborhoods in the Westside area of Los Angeles County, in Southern California. It includes two Los Angeles city neighborhoods, Bel Air and Holmby Hills; and the City of Beverly Hills.(Wikipedia)

Chicano Park: Varrio Logan San Diego, CA 12/6/2019
Chicano Park Steering Committee , P.O. Box 12524, San Diego, CA 92112 (619) 563-4661
The Chicano Park Steering Committee is on Facebook
Chicano Park was founded on April 22, 1970 when the community of Barrio Logan and Chicano movement activists joined forces to protest the construction of a Highway Patrol station on the present site of the park. The Highway Patrol office was at the time the final insult to a community that had already been degraded by the demolition of hundreds of homes to make way for Interstate 5, the Coronado Bridge, the placement of toxic industries and junkyards, lack of community facilities, proper schools, jobs, social or medical services.
Protesters led by the Brown Berets, community activists, artists, M.E.Ch.A. and others took over the site and faced police and bulldozers for days while negotiations took place that resulted in the land being given over for a community park. In the following days and months similar actions by the same groups led to the forming of a Chicano Free Clinic, now known as the Logan Heights Family Health Center, and the Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park.
The struggle for Chicano Park came to symbolize the Chicano Mexicano people's struggle for self-determination and self-empowerment. The murals in the park painted by Chicano artists such as Victor Ochoa, Mario Torero, Yolanda Lopez, José Montoya, Sal Barajas, Juanishi Orosco, Berenice Badillo, Carmen Linares and many others portray the social, political and cultural issues that form the struggle for the liberation of Chicano Mexicanos.
Every year the community of Barrio Logan, the greater community of San Diego and people throughout the Southwest and across the US come together to celebrate the takeover of Chicano Park.
50th Chicano Park Day, Sat. April 25, 2020
Organized by the Chicano Park Steering Committee, Stewards of Chicano Park
The 50th annual Chicano Park Day celebration will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020, in historic Chicano Park, located in the Logan Heights community, south of downtown San Diego under the San Diego-Coronado bridge. The theme will be 'From Takeover to Landmark: 50 Years of Self Determination and Resistance on Kumeyaay Land.
Visitors to Chicano Park Day will experience traditional music and dance, including one of the most beautiful performances of Aztec Indigenous dance, coordinated by Danza Azteca Calpulli Mexihca. The event will include performances by ballet folklorico groups, danza rebelde, speakers, and numerous live bands on two stages. In addition, there will be a display of more than 300 classic lowrider cars presented by Amigos Car Club, children’s art workshops, and various informational booths. Food, and arts and crafts vendors will be selling their specialties throughout Chicano Park. This annual event is organized and presented entirely by volunteers, both those who contribute on the day of the event as well as those who work throughout the year to ensure a great celebration.
**NO ALCOHOL AND NO PETS are allowed at the event. Thank you for your cooperation.
Established by Chicano activists on April 22, 1970, Chicano Park has received international recognition as a major public art site for its commanding mural paintings of Mexican and Chicano history. The Park was recognized as a San Diego Cultural Resource by the San Diego Historical Society in 1980. In addition, Chicano Park has been listed on the California Register of Historical Resources since 1997, on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in December 2016.

Death Valley National Park Road Trip - How You DON'T Want It To End
Death Valley National Park Road Trip
If you're not a big fan of the heat, but want to know what it's like inside Death Valley, this Death Valley tour video might help. This is the road trip my friend and I took just before summer.

Death Valley is one of the hottest places in the world. It’s also a short 4 hour drive away from Los Angeles. With summer approaching, I wanted to take a road trip out to Death Valley before it got too hot.
My friend Bobby went with me. Neither of us had been, yet. We were only there two days yet I’d say we did learn how to road trip Death Valley successfully by failing at a few things first.
Here are some basic tips to get you started:
Bring a hat, sunscreen, and lots of water. And make sure you are 100% confident in whatever car you are taking out there. The conditions are rough. There’s virtually no cell phone service and no relief from the sun if you get stranded. Also, Death Valley camping is a thing, but I suggesting you know what you're doing. Because we wanted to make things simple, we just stayed in a motel in Beatty, right outside the park.
As I said, we planned on making this road trip to Death Valley a simple one, but it turned out to be the opposite of that because of car trouble. I had to get my car towed. I’ll let the video explain that.
Here are some more tips if you’re traveling to Death Valley:
What to see when visiting Death Valley:
-Father Crowley Vista
-Rhyolite Ghost Town
-Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
-Badwater Basin
-Devil’s Golf Course
-Artist’s Drive
-Artist’s Palette
-Zabriskie Point (I don't know for certain, but this seemed to be a popular Las Vegas to Death Valley tour route destination. It was super crowded with lots of tour buses and people pouring out.)
-Dante’s View
My favorites:
Badwater Basin, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Artist’s Drive/Palette
Devil’s Golf Course was pretty cool too. But mainly just because it’s fun to walk on. It’s razor sharp though.
Also, If you road trip Death Valley, consider the car you bring because there are certain roads that are only good for high clearance vehicles. Most of top sights are all accessible via paved roads, but there are a few (like the Race Track) that aren’t.
Where to stay in Death Valley:
We stayed overnight in a town called Beatty. It’s right outside the east edge of Death Valley and much cheaper. There are also some town-like areas (used town very loosely) inside the park with hotels, cottages, and camp grounds. Consider staying in Furnace Creek, Stovepipe Wells, or Panamint Springs. If you're looking for hotels near Death Valley, you don't have many options. I'd say Lone Pine to the west and Beatty to the east are your best options. Death Valley camping sites can be found all over the park. But again, make sure you know what you're doing and go in a cooler month.
We went in May to beat the heat, but it didn’t work. Death Valley weather is crazy. It was 110 and 111 the days we were there. The week before the weather was in the 90’s. The NP website actually says May is usually when it starts getting too hot for visitors.
I hope you enjoy watching our Death Valley tour via video. It was definitely quite the experience.

Helix Water District - San Diego, California 100th Anniversary Historical Photos
Helix Water District - San Diego, California 100th Centennial Celebration Historical Selected Photos: Permission to use this presentation was given to J. Scott Shipe on September 22, 2015 by the Helix Water District. One of the most unique set of Western United States Significant Historical Drinking Water Photo Set I have found to date. What a drinking water story! What a struggle for water! We are definitely spoiled on the East Coast! Impressive!!
The Helix Water District will soon have alternative source for future water demands. The Carlsbad Desalination Project consists of a 50 million gallon per day (56,000 acre-feet per year (AFY)) seawater desalination plant (largest in the United States) and the associated 10-mile water delivery pipeline. The project is located at the Encina Power Station in the City of Carlsbad. Desalination has evolved into a desirable water supply alternative by tapping the largest reservoir in the world - the Pacific Ocean. The technology, available for decades, is at work in many arid areas of the world including the Middle East, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. A 30-year Water Purchase Agreement is in place between the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) and Poseidon for the entire output of the plant. Construction on the plant and pipeline is under way and the Project will be delivering water to the businesses and resident in San Diego County by late 2015.
