Bled, Slovenia | Cafe Belvedere | Lake Bled
Visited Slovenia in June. It´s a rainy and cloudy day when we drove to Bled to see Lake Bled.
Since it was raining we just decided to enjoy the vistas of Lake Bled from Cafe Belvedere. It was worth the stay while having a sip of coffee and pleasing our sweet tooth with Bled Cake.
We stayed in an apartment facing the Julian Alps.

How to make Slovenian Coffee
*I am so excited to be able to provide you with affiliate links to the espresso maker (GET IT IN RED!) and Barcaffe. I'll throw in others if I find something relevant. The commission I make enables me to keep producing content for you. Aff links noted with ***.
Yes, I am in love with Slovenian coffee. I know you will be too, so that's why I want to show you how to make it.
#1 DO NOT use a drip coffee maker. Yuck! Use this espresso maker instead.
*** (red)
*** (silver)
Disclaimer: Some Slovenes may disagree with my method. it works. If you have a better way, PLEASE COMMENT!
#2 Put water in the bottom chamber of the espresso maker and do not go above the safety valve.
#3 Put your Baracaffe in the filter. I don't fill it too full. Just enough to cover the filter.
*** Barcaffe is Slovenian coffee. Mild and smooth. There are different packages available so choose the most economical one.
*** Espresso version of Barcaffe.
#4 Screw on the top, put it on the stop, and let the water boil.
#5 When the top chamber is full, it's ready!
While I think you'd be making a mistake to not drink Barcaffe, if you really need something stronger, I can personally recommend Nespresso.
*** (Get the package that includes the milk frother. It rocks!)
The Nespresso is strong, but the machine is high quality as are the pods. You can also order recycling bags for free and ship the empty pods to be recycled for free.

Lake Bled Travel Guide | Day Trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia Video Transcript:
Lake Bled is probably the most popular day trip you can take from Ljubljana. This is a lake that sits on the Julian Alps, and in the middle of the lake you have a small island with a church - it’s about as picturesque as it gets and it draws massive crowds, but first, the journey there.
Bled Castle is a medieval castle that was built on a cliff rising 130 meters over Lake Bled. According to written sources, this is the oldest castle in Slovenia, first being mentioned in a document from the year 1011. The castle is set up around two courtyards which are connected with a staircase. Once you’re there, you can visit the chapel, check out some of the exhibits, watch a demonstration at the castle forge, or eat at the castle coffee shop or restaurant.
After the castle visit, we hiked back down and started our walk along Lake Bled because we were still feeling pretty stuffed from lunch. Little did we know this would take us several hours to complete.
After eating our slice of Bled Cream Cake, or Kremsnita, it was finally time to arrange a boat ride to Bled Island. While you can rent your own row boat to take out on the island, we chose to pay the 14 Euros per person to have someone else do the hard work. However, if you’re with a group of friends or travelling with family, it’s definitely cheaper to just rent a boat and row it yourself.
Bled Island is very small and it got pretty crowded even though it was low season. Forty minutes turned out to be plenty of time to climb up, have a look around, and enjoy some ice cream.
Now one last piece of advice: we visited in the off-season and at the end of the day, we found out there were not enough buses to transport everyone from Lake Bled back to Ljubljana.
We weren’t able to get on one bus because it was full, so we waited an hour and a half for the next one. By then, more day-trippers like us had gathered, and once again, not everyone could get on the bus, leaving a lot of people stranded, having to find a taxi or other alternative.
There was a lot of pushing and shoving, and many visitors with prepaid tickets were visibly upset.
Because our bus was full, this also meant that even though there were several scheduled stops on the way back to Ljubljana, we couldn’t pick up any passengers along the way, many of them who had been waiting for hours.
Lake Bled has experienced a boom in tourism, but the infrastructure to transport people hasn’t quite caught up yet. After a nice day visiting Bled, getting out of there proved to be very chaotic and stressful. Hopefully things will change in the future, but until then, know that leaving at the end can be tricky.

VIALKA - Art Cafe, Tallin, (part 7)

Vialka hail from deepest France, via everywhere and nowhere. They are a devilishly high-spirited guitar/drums duo who tour hard and fast across the world. Their music skips joyfully across borders, channeling desert blues, Chinese folk songs, scatter rock and European gypsy song dynamics in a whirlwind of dervish energy. Their endless gypsy punk folk rock tales, hard hitting poly-rhythms and yelps and howls make for a danceable and intoxicating brew. Like A Hawk And A Hacksaw or The Ex their openness to new sounds and cultures makes you feel alive and shows that 'world punk rock' need not be a dirty phrase.

Viennese Café - Eating Austrian Cake and Coffee for Breakfast in Vienna, Austria Travel Food Video Transcript:
Well good morning good morning again from Vienna (Wien). It is a Monday morning and it is actually our last day in this beautiful city. It is not even our last day. It is our last hours. Last hours. We're going to be leaving in just a few hours to Bratislava but yeah. Yeah, we thought we'd show you take you guys to a more local cafe. We kind of showed you what a fancy and famous one looks like but we haven't taken you into a local one so we're going to do that today.
So the place is called Aida and it has been around since 1913 so my goodness over a 100 years. I imagine they've had plenty of time to perfect their pastries, their coffees, their cakes. So for my drink I got the Aida Melange so this is an espresso with steamed milk and whipped cream that I have since you know mixed into the cup.
Exactly. And I also ordered that too. Haha. Mmmm.
It just sounded so good. Cream. Yes, please. Yes, please.
That is quite nice. Oh, and have I mentioned everything here is pink. Yep. Everything. Everything. The menus. The cakes. The waitresses uniform. The chairs. It is all pink. Everything looks pretty in pink over here. Pretty in pink.
And so someone ordered the Schinkenröllen. So this is really neat because it is basically like a ham slice and then inside of it, it looks like it appears to be some cream cheese. Yeah. And some chives and then bread.
Mozart cake.
Alright, so for something sweet I'm just going to read it off the menu because too many ingredients. I ordered the original Mozart Torte Wien. So the original Viennese Mozart Cake. And it is described as a dark sponge filled with the finest nougat and pistachio marzipan encased in a light chocolate fondant icing.
There is a lot going on here. That sounds pretty good. I like fondant icing. That is like poetry. I like chocolate. Yeah, there is a lot of stuff you like so. Oooh. It looks thick.
Look at the filling. The filling is so thick. it is like thicker than the cake itself. Yeah.
Mmmmm.
Good stuff.
And up next Sam ordered topfenstrudel. Topfenstrudel so basically this is like strudel, a pastry with Austrian cheese in the middle. Yeah, it looks like a cream cheese. Yeah, it is basically what you'd normally have on a cheesecake kind of filling.
If you guys come here definitely get the Mozart Cake. Trust us on this one.
Time for price point at Aida. Yeah, so in terms of the price point that came to 17.30 and that was for the two coffees and the three food items. So yeah, it was definitely more affordable than some of the more touristy and famous cafes and it was just really nice. It was really cool coming on a Sunday when it was nice and relaxed outside so yeah nice way for us to end our time in Vienna (Wien) and now we're off to Bratislava. Tata.

Ljubljana is Slovenia's capital and largest city. It's known for its university population and green spaces, including expansive Tivoli Park. The curving Ljubljanica River, lined in outdoor cafes, divides the city's old town from its commercial hub. Ljubljana has many museums, including the National Museum of Slovenia, displaying historic exhibitions, and the Museum of Modern Art, home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures.
Postojna Cave is a 24,340 m long karst cave system near Postojna, southwestern Slovenia. It is the second-longest cave system in the country as well as one of its top tourism sites. The caves were created by the Pivka River
Velika Planina literally means ‘big mountain’ and the name refers to a large alpine plateau high up in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps north of Ljubljana. Reaching the plateau requires a steep 2+ hour hike from the valley below or else you can make use of the cable car situated about 10km north of the historic town of Kamnik . Velika Planina is actually made up of several small settlements with romantic names like Small Mountain (Mala Planina) and Silent Valley (Tiha Dolina). Velika Planina has few permanent residents, but in the summer months it becomes populated with herdsmen who bring their cattle up to graze on the mountain pastures as they have done for centuries. It is a unique community and one of very few herders’ settlements of this scale that still exist in Europe and where the traditional Alpine herdsmen’s culture is still alive. And at about 1500m (4900 ft) above sea level, it is also a ski destination in winter and a place for hiking and relaxing in the summer months.

Ljubljana has many museums, including the National Museum of Slovenia, displaying historic exhibitions, and the Museum of Modern Art, home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures. Ljubljana hosts many distinctive structures by native 20th-century architect Jože Plečnik, including the iconic Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) over the river. Many notable sites are near the Tromostovje. These include the Prešernov Trg (central square), with art nouveau buildings and a turn-of-the-century statue of the plaza's namesake poet, France Prešeren. Nearby, the baroque domed cathedral has twin towers. Moving south, Plečnik's palazzo-style National and University Library features Roman archaeological remnants at its base. The hilltop Ljubljana Castle, a medieval fortress, is connected to old town by a funicular. Like our facebook page for daily blogs :

Ljubljana, travel guide with the most beautiful pictures of city
Geman language:
Slovenian language:
Ljubljana, capitol of Slovenia, is unmistakably European, with a gentle whiff of a Mediterranean breeze.
This city at the foot of a citade,l was always a melting pot for cultural, economic, and political diversity.
It is an eagerly modern city, inching towards becoming a swank capital of the new Europe.
The city's medieval character has been slightly modified by the modern architecture. The transition to the new political system was fortuitously peaceful.
Named after the renowned Slovenian poet, the Preseren Square is still the lively pulsating heart and turning point in the historic part of town.
Architecturally and historically most significant structures are snuggled within a 2-kilometre radius of the Preseren Monument.
Simple public transportation provides for effortless accessibility. A slow train brings the sightseers comfortably to the castle hovering over the city. The ride includes crossing the centrally located Tromostovje -- a web of three bridges.
The caste dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries. From here one has a wonderful view of the city and far beyond.
A great part of the city life takes place near the river. While strolling along the Lubljanica, soundlessly flowing through the city, one should take time and wander off into the ancient streets. Booksellers, cafés and relentless saunters animate the cityscape all year round.
Street musicians, often boasting a distinctly higher quality standard as those of other world capitals, and the open market, reflect the inhabitants' cultural agility and a sense for the mercantile.
Come nightfall and Ljubljana reveals its Mediterranean charm: street cafes, restaurants and bars are always brimming with life. The din from the thronged promenades resounds through out the city.
A carefree finale of a day in Ljubljana. Tomorrow one can continue to explore this elegant city.
