“We are the eyes of the Earth. We are the ears of the Earth. We are the voice of the Earth”
– Joseph Campbell
We are all, plants animals and humans, woven on the same loom of Nature. The Velathri Art Gallery aspires to promote art which brings this to the foreground of human awareness, exploring, observing and contemplating the mystery of the living world and the one family of Life, exhibiting artists who are aiming to re-unite art and audience to Nature, through Nature, inspired in Nature, shaping materials provided by Nature.
Shaping a vision where elegance meets instinct, beauty shines from insight, inspiration embraces wholeness, movement rises from roots, artistry springs from intuition and mastery is fuelled by passion; where the focus is sharp and yet spiritual, the work delicate while intense, unique and universal, light but deep, sophisticated with the wisdom of the shaman.
Curating magical cultural experience in this ancient land of the Etruscans, who named it VELATHRI, said to mean terra felice, to bridge the ordinary to elevated celebration of beauty and vitality.

Roam the maze of squares and streets of San Gimignano, Florence.
Within the walls of San Gimignano, you can explore the interconnecting main squares Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Cisterna. One of the main draws of the town is the beautiful religious art from the Medieval and Renaissance periods adorning the walls of marvelous churches such as the 12th century Romanesque Basilica in the Collegiata (the Duomo), and collected in the Pinacoteca (picture gallery) in the Palazzo Comunale.

San Gimignano, Tuscany part 1 of 2
The walled town of San Gimignano from a visit in December 2014 can be seen in these two films. It is amazing because of the towers of San Gimignano - built in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries and still standing today. Once there were 72 of them, today only 14 are left standing and one wonders what this minature Manhattan must have looked like then.
San Gimignano was founded as a small village in the 3rd century BCE by the Etruscans. Historical records begin in the 10th century, when it adopted the name of the bishop Saint Geminianus, who had defended it from Attila's Huns in the fifth century.
In the Middle Ages and Renaissance era, it was a stopping point for Catholic pilgrims on their way to Rome and the Vatican, as it sits on the medieval Via Francigena, which is well documented in the city. The city's development also was improved by the trade of agricultural products from the fertile neighbouring hills.
In 1199, during the period of its highest splendour, the city made itself independent from the bishops of Volterra. Divisions between Guelphs and Ghibellines troubled the inner life of the commune, which nonetheless, still managed to embellish itself with artworks and architecture.
Saint Fina, known also as Seraphina and Serafina, was a thirteenth century Italian saint born in San Gimignano during 1238. Since Saint Fina died on March 12, 1253 her feast day became March 12. Her major shrine is in San Gimignano and the house said to be her home still stands in the town.
On May 8, 1300, San Gimignano hosted Dante Alighieri in his role of ambassador of the Guelph League in Tuscany.
The city flourished until 1348, when the plague that affected all of Europe, compelled it to submit to Florence. The majority of the population were killed by the plague.
San Gimignano became a secondary centre until the nineteenth century, when its status as a touristic and artistic resort began to be recognized.
While in other cities, such as Bologna or Florence, most or all of their towers have been brought down due to wars, catastrophes, or urban renewal, San Gimignano has managed to conserve fourteen towers of varying height which have become its international symbol.
There are many churches in the town: the two main ones are the Collegiata, formerly a cathedral, and Sant' Agostino, housing a wide representation of artworks from some of the main Italian renaissance artists.
The Communal Palace, once seat of the podestà, is currently home of the Town Gallery, with works by Pinturicchio, Benozzo Gozzoli, Filippino Lippi, Domenico di Michelino, Pier Francesco Fiorentino, and others. From Dante's Hall in the palace, access may be made to a Majesty fresco by Lippo Memmi, as well as the Torre del Podestà or Torre Grossa, 1311, which stands fifty-four meters high.
The heart of the town contains the four squares, Piazza della Cisterna, Piazza Duomo where the Collegiata is located, Piazza Pecori, and Piazza delle Erbe. The main streets are Via San Matteo and Via San Giovanni, which cross the city from north to south.

Being for centuries at the center of Italian history explains why this beautiful region has so many Unesco world heritage sights and iron-strong traditions.
Rustic farms, manicured fields, cypress driveways and roman-medieval-renaissance citadels overlooking vast green landscapes from hill tops.
1)San Gimignano
San Gimignano is a small medieval hill town in the province of Siena. Famous for its medieval architecture, preserved tall tower houses and encircling walls located on the top of a hill. Also known for it's San Gimignano wine, Vernaccia.
2)Agriturismo dell'Arnano (Agriturismo is a luxurious farm stay away from the city)
We chose to book a Farm stay away from the city noise and stress.
15 km from Siena, in the town of Sovicille
This agriturismo cost us 324 euros for 3 guests for 7 nights for a total of 15.5 Euros pp per night. That's insane!
3)Siena and it's Palio horse race
Siena is a city in Tuscany, Italy.
The historic centre of Siena has been declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site.
It is one of the nation's most visited tourist attractions. Siena is famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio Horse race.
According to local legend, Siena was founded by Senius and Aschius, two sons of Remus and thus nephews of Romulus, after whom Rome was named.
Supposedly after their father's assassination by Romulus, they fled Rome, taking the statue of the she-wolf suckling the infants (Capitoline Wolf), thus appropriating that symbol for the town.
The Palio di Siena is a horse race that is held twice each year, on 2 July and 16 August, in Siena, Italy. Ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colours, represent ten of the seventeen contrade, or city wards.
4)Monteriggioni
Monteriggioni is a comune in the province of Siena in the Italian region Tuscany. The town hosts several piazzas and is referenced in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. Strategically positioned outpost later fortified to be the first line of defense against the enemy neighbor Florence.
5)La Speranza Restaurant
By far my favorite restaurant for its price and it's quality. Few tourists know about this place, mainly attended by local farmers, hunters, police officers, fire brigade, etc.
6)Castles around our farm stay ( Str. della Villa, 7, 53035 Monteriggioni Loc. La Villa SI, Italy)
If you go to Tuscany you'll find castles scattered all over the place just like these ones. This one is B&B “la torre della signoria”. Within walking distance is another castle called Castello della Chiocciola, named after it's spiral staircase.
7)Castellina in Chianti
Castellina in Chianti is a municipality of 2,800 inhabitants, located about 15 kilometres northwest of Siena. It is part of the Chianti Hills.
The first settlements date from the Etruscan age.
The city has roman and medieval details.
8)Cecchi Wine Tour
Pay a visit and enjoy:
-A wine tour of the vineyards and line of production executed by a professional master sommelier
-Wine tasting of 2 flagship wines and 3 premium signature wines
-Coupling of wine with food (aperitivo with locally cured meat and bruschetta)
-Olive oil tasting

Italian pottery in San Gimignano Tuscany Italiaans aardewerk in San Gimignano Toscane
San Gimignano (the city with 13 towers) has many pottery shops. For every taste there is something to find. The things I liked were unfortunately very expensive . The brightly colored cat, frog and dachshund costs unfortunately € 590. In 1990, the historic center of San Gimignano been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. San Gimignano is one of the best preserved medieval towns of Tuscany and it is therefore also one of the busiest. During the summer months busen with tourists riding in and out. There will surely be sold many pottery when I saw the amount of shops . In my video you can see all kinds of pottery ...

6 Great Museums in Florence, Italy
There are so many things to see in Florence Italy. We picked out 6 of our favorite Museums in Florence to share. We did not get the Florence Museum Pass (aka the Firenze Card) because we needed more than 72 hours to visit all of them. In summer it is suggested that you get your Florence museum tickets early or online but in November it just wasn't necessary. Especially if you get there early. The museums of firenze are magnificent. We might suggest getting an Uffizi gallery tour as there is SOOO much to see there and a tour guide would add a lot of value.

Uffizi:
The Uffizi Gallery is an art museum in Italy. It is located in Florence, and among the oldest and most famous art museums of Europe.
History:The building of Uffizi was begun by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 for Cosimo I de' Medici so as to accommodate the offices of the Florentine magistrates, hence the name uffizi, offices. The construction was later continued by Alfonso Parigi and Bernardo Buontalenti and completed in 1581. The cortile (internal courtyard) is so long and narrow, and open to the Arno at its far end through a Doric screen that articulates the space without blocking it, that architectural historians treat it as the first regularized streetscape of Europe. Vasari, a painter and architect as well, emphasised its perspective length by the matching facades' continuous roof cornices, and unbroken cornices between storeys and the three continuous steps on which the palace-fronts stand. The niches in the piers that alternate with columns filled with sculptures of famous artists in the XIX century. The Palazzo degli Uffizi brought together under one roof the administrative offices, the Tribunal and the Archivio di Stato, the state archive. The project that was planned by Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany to arrange prime works of art in the Medici collections on the piano nobile was effected by Francis I of Tuscany, who commissioned Buontalenti the famous Tribuna degli Uffizi that united a selection of the outstanding masterpieces in the collection in an ensemble that was a star attraction of the Grand Tour:Over the years, further parts of the palace evolved into a display place for many of the paintings and sculpture collected by the House of Medici or commissioned by them. According to Vasari, who was not only the architect of the Uffizi but also the author of Lives of the Artists, published in 1550 and 1568, artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo gathered at the Uffizi for beauty, for work and for recreation.
Today, the Uffizi is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Florence. In high season (particularly in July), waiting times can be up to five hours.
In early August 2007, Florence was caught with a large rainstorm, and the Gallery was partially flooded, with water leaking through the ceiling, and the visitors had to be evacuated. There was a much more significant flood in 1966 which damaged most of the art collections in Florence severely, including the Uffizi.
