I can't stay quiet IWD Regina, SK (500 DAYS IN THE WILD)
While spending time in Regina working on grants and editing for 500 Days, co-director Ann joined Sisters of Mercy, a local women's choir to perform MILCK's Quiet as part of the MacKenzie Art Gallery's International Women's Day event on the Albert Street Bridge on the Trans Canada Trail.
500 Days in the Wild is an independent feature documentary about an artists attempt to do the longest trail in the world and make a film about it. Dianne is hiking, biking, paddling and snow shoeing the 24000km Great Trail.
Her five year journey combines with stories of the land, people and communities she passes through.
From pushing 150-pounds of bike and packs over rocks, to hiking through flooded bogs, paddling the largest lake in the world, snowshoeing through dense coniferous forests, skiing across wind blown plains, biking along pristine trails in all seasons, the trail beckons. Dianne travels the ‘Old Way’, the slow way of the turtle, seeking wisdom from those that live close to the land, asking the questions “what have we forgotten?” “What do we need to know?”
500 Days is the continuation of an old story - the artist dropping out of society and reconnecting to nature - but it is also a new story, a realization that we will not survive traveling solo. 500 Days in the Wild challenges us to revisit our past, our connection to the land and its people, to find our inclusive story that will carry us into the future.

BuzzCity.ca: Heather Cline: Populating Veduta - Contemporary Cityscapes - Art Gallery of Regina
Visual artist Heather Cline talks about her current exhibition - 'Populating Veduta - Contemporary Cityscapes ', on display at the 'Art Gallery of Regina'. The smaller studies for the project are on display at Mysteria Gallery in Regina.
In this exhibition, artist Heather Cline has taken the 18 century 'Veduta' (birdseye view) genre and adapted it to the 21 century right here in the Cathedral neighbourhood in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Unlike historical cityscapes where people have traditionally played a minor role, these paintings focus on the social history of a community.
This body of work was launched with a performance collaboration between Cline and performance artist Michelle Sereda in 2009 at an installation entitled 'The Office for Identity Collection'. The performance included a panoramic film shoot of the Cathedral Neighborhood documenting some of the people who live, work, and play in the area. Cline also conducted audio and video interviews, collecting the stories that became the basis for this show. Using the film, Cline translated her research into the community - both past and present - into this series of 'historic' paintings and companion video shorts that capture the lives of everyday people in Regina.
