Art Plural Gallery ( presents an interview with American artist Jedd Novatt. The artist was in Singapore to unveil his solo exhibition at Art Plural Gallery. The exhibition features two large sculptures as well as smaller scale works and monotypes.
Born in New York City in 1958, Jedd Novatt was educated both in the United States and France, where he currently lives. Defying scale and questioning gravity, sculptures of all sizes shape interspaces, define dimensions and embody monumentality.
Interview with Armen Agop at Art Plural Gallery, Singapore
Art Plural Gallery ( presents an interview with Egyptian-Armenian sculptor Armen Agop. The artist was in Singapore to unveil his solo exhibition Transcontemporary at Art Plural Gallery, which presents 20 granite and bronze sculptures that are both free-standing and wall-mounted.
Armen Agop was born in Cairo of Armenian descent in 1969. He graduated from the sculpture department in the Faculty of Fine Arts from Helwan University, Cairo in 1992. Armen Agop's sculptures have been called futuristic, other-worldly UFOs, yet at the same time ancient, spiritual and meditative. Agop connects with granite, a material that existed millions of years ago. Through his internal journey with the material, Agop reconsiders the very concept of Contemporary. Sculpture, for him, is not a trend. It is beyond now. It is Transcontemporary.
Interview with Pascal Dombis at Art Plural Gallery, Singapore
Art Plural Gallery presents an interview with Pascal Dombis, a French visual artist whose unpredictable and dynamic visual forms explore the complexities of visual paradoxes through the use of 'excessive' technological process.
Born in 1965, Dombis graduated with a Bachelor in Engineering from Insa University in Lyon, France before settling on pursuing an artistic career. For more than twenty years, he has been using computers and algorithms to generate elaborate repetitions of simple processes that computationally reproduce geometric or typographical signs. These de-structuring structures and irrational environments disturb, engage and inspire the viewer, posing fascinating paradoxes between the mechanical control and chaotic randomness that produce them.
Interview with Michel Platnic at Art Plural Gallery, Singapore
Art Plural Gallery presents an interview with multidisciplinary Israeli artist Michel Platnic. The artist was in Singapore in January 2015 to unveil his solo exhibition After at Art Plural Gallery.
Born in France in 1970, Michel Platnic graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from the Midrasha School of Art at Beit Berl Academic College in Israel after spending 13 years in Electrical Engineering. Platnic's preoccupation with the human form is vivid in his latest works, where he challenges the boundaries of artistic mediums in a dramatic series of moving portraits. Created after Francis Bacon, Platnic's 'living paintings' break free from the existentialist torment that Bacon expressed in his work.
Interview with Fu Lei at Art Plural Gallery, Singapore
Art Plural Gallery ( presents an interview with Chinese artist Fu Lei. The artist was in Singapore to unveil his solo exhibition Dreams of Desire at Art Plural Gallery, which features five monumental oil paintings as well as smaller scale drawings and prints.
Born in Beijing, China in 1958, Fu Lei graduated from Fine Arts School at the Hebei Normal University in 1982 and is currently based in Beijing's iconic 798 Art District. The artist's early works assimilated vivid colours and decorative delights from Chinese folk art and in 1998, the artist began to use his now signature plump figures to unearth the indolence and ambiguousness of human nature. Today, Fu Lei's elaborate oil paintings capture the notion of excess in our present world. In his works, plump figures decorated in pearls and dainty high-heels frolic amongst toads, flamingos, snails and fruit in an absurd yet uncannily familiar world.

Interview with Chun Kwang Young 1 - Korean mulberry paper
Art Plural Gallery ( interviewed artist Chun Kwang Young during his visit to Singapore for his solo exhibition 'Assemblage'.
After studying in America and being influenced by Abstract Expressionism, Chun has been seeking a personal language and a strong voice that would allow him to incorporate influences from his homeland. A seminal moment came in 1995, when Chun began to create structural works of art made of the assemblage of hundreds of polystyrene foam triangles wrapped in Korean mulberry paper. Known as hanji, the paper is deeply rooted in Korean tradition and was at one time a ubiquitous household material, as well as a means of wrapping various objects such as medicine and food.
