Discovering Bitaka: A Huge Flea Market in Sofia, Bulgaria
Please watch: Sicily from Above
-~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
We spent a morning with our close friend Denitza, walking through an amazing flea market in Sofia, Bulgaria, called 'Bitaka.' She explained to us the best way to find quality things there and how to get them for cheap.
The market really has a little bit of everything: new and vintage clothing; antiques; furniture; mechanical goods and strange odds and ends like cassette tape mixes or home-made trinkets.
There's a lot to see, even if you're just curiosity shopping. You can get a snack or drink from one of the small stands and then wind your way through the large maze of vendors.
*One tip: get cash out before going, and have small notes and coins on hand. If you can, go with a Bulgarian friend to help you barter.
Thanks so much for watching. Please like, comment or share – and don’t forget to subscribe!

Aristo Fashion's label Babini Kuki was presented in New York at the Haute Couture Show. This manufacturer is located in Varna, the East Coast of Bulgaria, where all garments are made by hand. Unfortunately the original Designer Galina Dacheva passed away in Spring 2007. But her designs will live forever.
A Small spelling error: Aristo Fashon should read Aristo Fashion.

Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | Check your local public television station for this Rick Steves’ Europe episode or watch it on Bulgaria, so mysterious to most Americans, has a vivid identity as a crossroads of the Balkans. We'll trace the country's complex history, from ancient Thracian tombs to medieval Orthodox Christian monasteries to Soviet monuments. And we'll enjoy an intimate taste of contemporary culture: the yellow brick road of Sofia; the gregarious craftspeople of the medieval capital, Veliko Tarnovo; and the thriving pedestrian zones of cosmopolitan Plovdiv.

I Bought A Box Of Amazon Customer Returns
So it turns out that when you return something to Amazon, instead of restocking it, they auction it off in giant liquidation palettes - where you can get thousands of dollars of stuff for a few hundred dollars!! It feels kind of like an abandoned storage unit except all online - so I bought one and unboxed it all to see if it was really as good of a deal as it looks! The Internet Made Me Buy It - but after seeing this, would you?

The craziest way to restore a monument of culture
1 000 000 handmade wooden buttons, buttons with a cause!
A monument of historical, cultural and emotional heritage in Sofia / Bulgaria shall be restored and renovated through this strange, crazy, but full with sincere intentions initiative. The wood carved complex of master Racho Angelov.
The story and life of the master provokes the volunteers to choose to restore it in the same way – through making a million buttons for a cause!
The stunning wood carved complex, made all by himself – Racho Angelov –self thought, during 25 years of his life 1967-1993, which took place at the edge of the biggest park in Sofia – Borisova gradina.
The hand made buttons do not have a price - the buyer decides how much to leave for the cause. The whole sum goes for the restoration. Until the official start of the initiative – the middle of February with the good will and the support of Bulgarian citizens and institutions for a great cause, every day buttons are made from collected fallen branches and twigs.
Here some of them.

1) Our first day in Sofia we hit the ground taking in many street performances, getting caught up in a football mob / rally, visiting major landmarks and eating street food. These are our first impressions of Sofia.
2) Already impressed by Bulgarian street food, we decided to treat ourselves to a sit down meal to further sample Bulgarian cuisine. At Lubimoto we feasted on Chushki Burek (stuffed red peppers with feta cheese) and Bulgarian pork loin with potatoes, cheese and gravy. Both were delicious!
3) Wanting to indulge our taste buds further we visited the ever popular Made In Home restaurant where we sampled Rakia and goat cheese salad.
4) On our last day in Sofia we tried to cover parts of the city we didn't get to visit on previous days. Some of the highlights included checking out Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and witnessing more street performances. Those Bulgarian break dancers really do have all the moves!
This is part of our Travel in Bulgaria series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Bulgarian culture, Bulgarian arts, Bulgarian foods, Bulgarian religion and Bulgarian people.

Event organizer: Elizabeth Philipova facebook.com/ArtShopHandMade
Do you remember when you were small, a child? You had dreams and wishes?
Well these kids with special needs also..they live in a apartment together with nice and loving caretakers around them..but no gifts, no summer ice cream, sports, vacation as there is no money for it..
They never saw the inside of a restaurant or had a menu card in their hands..
God bless people who do spend time, efforts and love to make a change in their life..to make their face to shine from happiness..
Or as the sweet Angel and owner of the Hand made art shop Elizabeth Philipova wrote:
It is not needed to be rich with lots of money to help. You need to be rich in your heart!
Every help is important! You can help too!
