The Best Souvenir Shopping in Mexico? Walking Tour | San Miguel de Allende
Let's walk and shop through the Mercado de Artesanías to Fabrica la Aurora in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
The former is a side street that's dedicated to arts and crafts that make for some excellent souvenirs. While Fabrica la Aurora is a factory-turn-art-gallery-high-end-shopping center.
The city has plenty of other places to shop that we'll explore later.
For now, enjoy the walk through San Miguel de Allende!
Let's explore San Miguel de Allende (SMA) in Mexico
The colonial Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende (SMA) is a retirement hotspot. Many North American's move here in retirement for the great weather (not too hot and not too cold), the thriving arts scene, entertainment and general amenity of the town.
Wealthy citizens from Mexico City also call SMA home and make the 3 hour drive to their second properties for weekends and holidays.
Get a feel for this beautiful town through this short video.

Eating Tortas at the Artisan Market in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
The food in Mexico is absolutely glorious! Harper, Jesse, and I spend the afternoon at the Mercado de Artesanias in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where we are living as a digital nomad family. We eat the most glorious tortas: torta milanesa de pollo for me and torta Cubana for him. (Harper had two bites of quesdilla, not pictured.) We love browsing the market, with its trinkets and handicrafts, its fresh produce, and delicious food. Happy day!
ABOUT US: We are a digital nomad family of three traveling the world in search of a home. Currently, we live in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, with our three-year-old daughter.

Colonial View Home in the Center of San Miguel de Allende
Casa Schwantz is a stunning Colonial home built in the hacienda style located in the best part of Centro Histórico. From its prestigious address in Centro Histórico
, you are just a short walk to the Jardin, restaurants, and galleries that are the heartbeat of San Miguel de Allende. It is rare to find a house for sale in San Miguel de Allende with the features of this home including expansive outdoor gardens and courtyards, and formal and family areas.
With 5 bedrooms, and 7 bathrooms this home well suited to a large family, or for entertaining guests. Each bedroom includes an ensuite bath with luxury finishes and a fireplace. There is separate access to the four bedrooms on the second level making the home well designed to operate a bed and breakfast and the home couldn’t be better located. One feature that makes it truly unusual for a Centro Histórico home is the two car garage and additional parking for 5 cars.
The home is located behind a small hotel creating a buffer from the traffic of Zacateros and providing a tranquil interior courtyard with gardens and a large fountain. The hotel makes for an excellent neighbor because of the added security it provides, and access to the home is made from a legal easement through the hotel’s grounds to the homes lower courtyard.
The main floor boasts a bedroom suite, formal dining room, and gracious living room. The modern kitchen with Mexican tile countertops opens to the dining room for easy entertaining and includes all appliances including one of the houses two water purification systems. The ground floor bedroom, living and dining rooms, and a studio/office each open to an interior courtyard that provides additional light and an excellent space for plants and natural elements. From the interior courtyard, a flight of stairs leads to the second floor bedrooms and continues to an expansive rooftop terrace from which to enjoy views of the Parroquia and breathtaking sunsets.
A final attractive feature of the lovely home is that it comes turnkey including furnishings with a few exceptions. The new owners of the home will be able to move in without a worry and make this wonderful home their own.
The Hippest Part of San Miguel de Allende? Exploring Colonia Guadalupe
My favorite neighborhood in San Miguel de Allende is beautiful Colonia Guadalupe. It's got amazing street art, funky shops, lovely grocery stores, and amazing restaurants. Today Harper and I explored and ate vegetarian food. AND HARPER ATE SPIRULINA CAN YOU GUYS BELIEVE IT.

????????SAN MIGUEL de ALLENDE | Is This MEXICO'S BIGGEST ANTICLIMAX? | MOVING To MEXICO In 2019?
????????SAN MIGUEL de ALLENDE, MEXICO - Hola amigos! It's time to visit San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato state, Central Mexico. This isn't the typical overview of San Miguel you will see among the plethora of 'The Most Beautiful City in Mexico videos... it's time to get real.
San Miguel de Allende is the perfect example of a Mexican city which needs to be viewed from different points of view, ie a tourist, an expat, a long term traveller/Digital Nomad and indeed a Mexican - you'll all see it differently.
San Miguel is quite rightly a perfect location for short term tourism and for those considering moving to Mexico, ie expats. It is indeed beautiful and encompasses everything that screams MEXICO.
However, is it everything the hype lives up to? Perhaps not, especially if you've been able to visit other locations in Mexico which offer the same, if not more.
Everyone's opinion is different, that's what YouTube is about.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexican Colonial Property for Lease
Located in a gated enclave of ten luxury homes, Casa Grande’s private residence is an exquisite 3 bedroom, 3-1/2 bath secure retreat, just minutes from the activity of downtown San Miguel. The main house covers over 4,000 square feet of livable space including stone work, boveda ceilings, outdoor fountains, cupulas, Sautillo tile, outdoor gardens and terraces that make this designer home gorgeous. All our beds are super comfy with luxurious linens and plush bathroom towels.
The spectacular rooftop garden is over 3,000 square feet of uninterrupted views in all directions. It includes (all under cover) a full gourmet kitchen complete with GE Profile appliances (refrigerator, gas fired stove top, oven, dishwasher, microwave and two sinks both with garbage disposals), a professionally-designed gas-fired wood burning pizza oven, a circular bar with 10 custom made leather-padded bar chairs, a hot tub for eight people, and a full bathroom complete with glass topped shower. All counter tops are granite, cabinetry is mesquite wood curved to match the curved granite bar and the entire roof has slate tile flooring.
The balance of the roof is open air with custom made cushioned loungers, tables and chairs, gas-fire pit, gorgeous planters and potted plants; excellent for dining outside, entertaining a large party…or for a more intimate evening after a day of touring the many places to explore here in San Miguel.
This Mexican Colonial property is located in one of San Miguel's most distinguished, gated communities. Casa Grande is located 0.4 miles from Parque Juarez, 0.5 miles from the world famous Instituto Allende and 0.7 miles from the Parroquia and El Jardin (the town square), both are the center of the city. The walk to these areas are gently downhill (you can walk home or a taxi is $3 USD from anywhere in town). Juarez Park is also only a short walk as are many restaurants, shops, galleries and the famous historic Instituto Allende on Ancha de San Antonio Street.
The designer home is furnished with Mexican folk art, antiques, fine linens and other plush textiles. The home has a large, beautifully appointed living room, sunny dining room for eight with floor to ceiling glass windows and doors opening to an open air atrium complete with water fountain, loungers, table and chairs and the sounds of birds chirping daylong.
The large kitchen features stainless steel GE appliances and a heavy duty Viking industrial gas stove complete with grill and griddle. The kitchen includes wonderful cabinetry and hand-painted Mexican tile with plenty of prep areas and includes a separate maid’s sink, additional prep area and pantry space; truly a gourmets delight!!!
A laundry room with full size washer and dryer is located in the home immediately beyond the maid's kitchen.
The main house can sleep six with a king master suite and two bedrooms with queen beds. An additional inflatable queen size air mattress is available for 2 extra guests if needed. A 4th bedroom and additional casitas are located on the property as described at the bottom of this section.
The home includes four additional items of importance:
•Purified, pressurized water treatment systems so that there are no problems with drinking the water or having adequate water pressure to all users.
•Internet and TV access. Because all homes and hotels in SMA are built with stone and brick walls, such services can be spotty at best. To alleviate such problems, we have installed hard wire to each room and then broadcast Wi-Fi from that point forward in each room. We have three services coming into the property from the cable company divided by five servers in the house so that each user will receive at least 14 mbs on their devices.
•48” Samsung Smart TVs are provided to keep you tuned to your favorite streaming sites be it Netflix, YouTube or other providers.
•A monitored burglar alarm and perimeter security cameras are provided for your peace of mind.
Maid service is included twice per week. Additional service can be provided at additional cost and availability.
All rooms include ceiling fans and gas fire places. A US Vonage phone is available so you can call anywhere in the world free of charge…and your friends and family can reach you, too, free of charge.
As an added benefit, Lawnie & Michelle Sturdevant (the owners) live in a separate house located next door and are available at any time to assist you.
For more information, please email Lawnie or Michelle at sanmiguelproperty@gmail.com or call us at 281-769-1222
???? Visit to San Miguel de Allende (World Heritage Site)
This is a film about a visit to San Miguel de Allende (SMA) and the nearby Sanctuary of Atotonilco both in Mexico that were declared World Heritage Sites in 2008.
The main attraction of SMA, a colonial-era city in Mexico’s central highlands, is known for its baroque Spanish architecture reflected in its buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. SMA has a thriving arts scene and cultural festivals.
SMA played a significant role in the Mexican War of Independence that started in 1810 against the Spanish colonial rulers. Each year there is an impressive celebration of Independence Day (Día de la Independencia) over the period of September 15-16.

Paradise in Full Frame: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico (feat. Feed The Hungry SMA)
Paradise Full Frame Presents: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico!
Around the world on a daily basis, travelers visit destinations which often appear to be nothing short of paradise. Yet, throughout our travels, we've found that more often than not, these destinations tend to have a lot of problems which don't get the attention that they need. There's much more to these places than what people typically post about on social media or in travel magazines. Our job at Paradise Full Frame is to bring these problems to light, to show what Paradise looks like in Full Frame, and to encourage responsible tourism – travel, with purpose. We want to leave Paradise better than how we found it.
This video features Feed The Hungry San Miguel. This is a non-profit organization located in San Miguel de Allende which works to end the cycle of poverty through aiding in the epidemic problems of malnourishment and diabetes in the San Miguel area. Through providing locally sourced nutritious meals to local schools, Feed The Hungry not only improves the health of local families, but provides incentives for parents to send their children to school, all while creating jobs, and providing training programs for the communities on the importance of a nutritious meal (and how to prepare one). Every ¢50 provides a child in need with a meal. Visit their website to make a tax-deductible donation, and make a difference in the life of a child today.
Thanks for watching! Go to FeedTheHungrySMA.org to learn more or to make a donation, and subscribe to Paradise Full Frame to stay up-to-date with our latest projects.

Staying in San Miguel de Allende's BEST HOTEL (Live Aqua Urban Resort and Spa)
Spent the weekend in San Miguel de Allende and I felt like filming some of it! This city is truly one of the greatest places in the world, and staying in their Live Aqua resort made the experience even better than I could have imagined. Please enjoy and leave a like if you wish to support a poor, lame sea urchin like me!
Sorry for some of the shakiness in the video, it was filmed on an iPhone 8 LOL.

San Miguel de Allende: Library, Art, and the Tuesday Market (Family Vlog in Mexico )
In SMA, there's something new and beautiful to see every day! We spend some time in the public library (I've never been in such a pretty library, with such a gorgeous cafe!), and then we head to an artisan fair at the Instituto Allende. On Tuesday, it's time for El Tianguis de los Martes, the Tuesday Market. You can find just about anything at this market--from furniture and clothes to horseback riding supplies to tools to tables and tables full of the most amazing produce. And, of course, the FOOOOOOOD.
