Artesian Bore Baths at lightening ridge - early morning dip with the kids

The hot bore baths are amazing, a free attraction for people visiting the ridge they really are a nice thing to visit every morning while you are there.
I felt good after getting out! They are at about 50 degrees so are a little warm, but if you get in an out like they reccomend you cant go wrong.

Lightning Ridge - Outback Aussie Trip, Easter 2019

G'day G'day, Lightning Ridge would have to be one of the most interesting places we've visited so far. From an outsider looking in it seems like it would be a hard life. The locals will tell you it is indeed a hard life. However, one thing I noticed was they were all pretty happy and life was simplistic and mostly stress free. A great sense of community can be felt and everyone has time of day for you and want's to know where your from and what your up to. There are many characters in town, and the town itself has many quirks. A must visit place to anyone should you be in the area or not far. Hell, even just make the trip out there. You won't be let down!

Continuing our backpackneymoon through Australia, we finally reached the outback where things start to get weird! Lightning Ridge is a quirky town with lots of quirky things to see including a car door tour, a house made of cans and bottles and some fantastic artesian bore baths. Love it!

Lightning Ridge part 1

Two tourist attractions in Lightning Ridge - the Walk-in Mine, where you can have a look at opal mining methods and how typical opal mines in the area look, and a self-built castle constructed by one of the many local residents. The castle has actually been under the threat of being torn down in the past, due to not filling building code, but has now been protected.

Purni Bore, Artesian Water

Purni Bore, on the French Line, put through by the French Petroleum Co. in 1963, in far northern South Australia, on the Simpson Desert. Now a camping area for Witjira National Park. The bore flows @ 85 celcius, & some is allowed to flow into the man-made wetland to support the bird & animal life.
