Moss Side: In Search of Burgess — Princess Road
'...the cats roamed at night and screamed, that was our only evening music...dustbins, sly copulation...squalor, squalor.'

150 & 125 District Rly Anniversary trips en route Stamford Brook-Turnham Green June 2019 & 1993
For the 150th Anniversary of the opening of the District Railway in 1868 Steam trips were planned to work over a weekend from Kensington High Street to Ealing Broadway. When the time was approaching the event had to be postponed for a year owing to the Bluebell’s Met carriages (the Chesham set) needing attention. So here we are finally on Saturday June 22nd 2019 at the East end of Turnham Green station looking back to Stamford Brook getting a great view of MET ‘E’ Class 0-4-4T No 1 heading the first return train of the day back from Kensington High Street to Ealing Broadway and being passed by a couple of game 44 year old Piccadilly line 1973 Stock trains. At the beginning we can also see an eastbound ‘S’ Stock train departing Stamford Brook station. This was a London & South Western route opened at the beginning of 1869 so this section from Hammersmith to Richmond is also celebrating a 150th anniversary. The line from Hammersmith which was also used over time by the Metropolitan, Great Western and District Railways plus Midland Railway coal trains for Kensington ended with the District (which had achieved its connection in June 1877) becoming the main user who also electrified the line for their use. With the ever growing volume of District trains the LSW then agreed to provide extra dedicated tracks for these Electrics which came into use at the end of 1911. Stamford Brook station was opened on the new District tracks only at this time, then during World War 1 all other passenger services were withdrawn and the non-electrified tracks fell out of use until electrified and brought back into use on 4th July 1932 to permit extension of the Piccadilly line westward from Hammersmith first to South Harrow, then 6 Months later to Northfields and after a further 3 Months to Hounslow West. The new arrangement had the District using the two outer tracks and hence a new platform was required at Stamford Brook which is where we see the ‘S’ Stock train at the beginning of this sequence. The second sequence takes us back to the 125th anniversary celebrations in 1993 which included Steam runs between Ealing Broadway & West Kensington over the first weekend in June with ex GW 0-6-0 Pannier Tank 7715 (running as L99) hauling one of the LT owned ‘TC’ sets again with ‘Sarah Siddons’ on the other end. Here the ensemble is seen on its third Westbound run from the East end of the other island platform at Turnham Green station running over the same stretch as Met No 1 26 years before on Saturday 5th June 1993. It is also chased by a Piccadilly line 1973 Stock train, this one still in its original unpainted aluminium finish. Finally, my bedroom on the West side of Ennismore Ave at this time looked out over this route midway between the stations and so I just had to film L99 en route from there on the first Sunday Westbound run.

Hillingdon Documentary: Disability Does Not Mean Inability
Myself and three other team members studying Media at Uxbridge College were being commissioned by the Hillingdon Association of Volunteer Services to create a documentary on disability sports. We conducted secondary research into the sporting opportunities for disabled people in the Hillingdon borough and interviewed a variety of people who participated. Above, is the result.
