Shaun Whale’s favourite campsite #11: Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area, TAS
When Shaun Whale sets up camp in beautiful, but sometimes testing Australian conditions, he wants a brand and build quality he can trust when it comes to the electronic accessories that keep his 80-series running.
Being Australian made and designed, the REDARC Manager 30 Battery Management System works with all battery types and is the only BMS Shaun trusts to not only survive the harshest conditions in Australia, but thrive in them.

I do not support closing off Arthur-Pieman
I don't support keeping Arthur-Pieman closed for the people to enjoy. I won't lock off areas of my great state so that nobody gets to enjoy them.

Devils under the floor
These Tasmanian Devils are seen living under a house in far Southern Tasmania in footage taken by a remote camera installed briefly by the Parks and Wildlife Service to assess the breeding and health status of the resident devils; a lactating mother with 3 very curious 'imps', all healthy. Numbers of this threatened species, only found in Tasmania, have dropped almost 80% since the 1996 identification of Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD), but the far south has been spared from the disease so far. Beneath the floorboards it is low, dark and dry, a perfect place for devils to take refuge and breed. It is even possible for Tasmanian Devils to live in harmony with the humans above, as they are rarely troublesome and only noisy at certain times of the year; people usually have no idea they are even there. Technology allows some fascinating insights into the life of the devil. See for more information
Solo hike in Tasmania, 19 days in the Tarkine
A 19 days adventure, a mixe between packraft and hike. Probably the best way to explore the Tarkine.
Although not designated as a national park, the area contains a wildly diverse landscape - including Australia's largest patch of temperate rainforest - and a world of natural treasures including mountain ranges, wild river and cave systems, buttongrass moorlands, and a rugged coastline with long sandy beaches, grassy woodland and coastal heath.
Personally, the tarkine deserve to be protected, it's a extraordinary place.

Geoff King - King of Conservation in the North-West
GEOFF KING (8/3/1955 - 19/9/2013)
Tasmania Parks and Wildlife is very saddened by the passing of Geoff King. Geoff was a pioneer of conservation in the north-west. He established Kings Run Wildlife Tours which he ran on his spectacular coastal property north of Arthur River. Geoff was a huge advocate for the appreciation of the area's extraordinary Aboriginal heritage, wildlife and flora, showcasing these values to a global audience. Geoff was a visionary. His loss will be felt by many. Our sincere condolences to Geoff's family. Peter Mooney (General Manager) and PWS staff.
