Marquis and Adrianne De Lafayette (IRL) - Speed Paint (HISTORY LESSON IN THE DESCRIPTION)
Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roche Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette (holy shit that name tho), was born to a noble military family, on September 6,1757. His father died in the Seven Years War and his mother and grandfather died in 1770, leaving him with a large inheritance. In 1771, Lafayette joined the Royal Army. At the age of 17, he married 14 year-old Marie Adrienne Françoise de Noailles, who was also from a noble family.
In 1777 he sailed to the United States to help against the British rule. He grew in ranks and became a major-general. In May of 1778, he proved his worth at Bunker Hill, by outwitting the British troops that were sent to capture him, which was later renamed Lafayette Hill. Doing this rallied the troops and forced the two armies to finally reach a stalemate.
When Lafayette returned to his homeland, in December of 1781, he rejoined the French army and organized trade agreements with Thomas Jefferson. Though he did not agree with the royal family at the time, as the revolution broke out, as captain of the guard, he was obligated to protect the royal family at all costs. He then fled the country in 1792, but was captured by Austrian forces and did not return to France until 1799.
While Napoleon was in power, Lafayette maintained a low profile, but after Charles X was overthrown in the July Revolution in 1830, he was presented the opportunity to become a dictator. He declined and let the rule pass on to Louis-Phillippe, but he was reestablished as the head of the National Guard.
Marie Joseph Paul Yves Roche Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, died of pneumonia on May 20, 1834.
I kept out a lot of details in his life for no other reason that this is a short overview of his life. If there is somethi g you believe is important please leave it in the comment section below.

The Wea People: History, Culture & Associations
This is a collection of words, photos and video clips about ..
The Wea People.
--------------------------------------------------
The Wea People are a Miami-Illinois-speaking Indigenous American tribe originally located in western Indiana, closely related to the Miami Tribe.
The name Wea is used today as the a shortened version of their numerous, recorded names. Their name for themselves (autonym) in their own language is “Waayaahtanwa”, derived from “waayaahtanonki”, 'place of the whirlpool’, where they were first recorded being seen and where they were living at that time.
The different spellings of their name are numerous, as they were made by different settlers, from different languages and educational backgrounds. One French version is “Ouiatenon” and another is “Ouiateno”.
There were Wea villages, whose sites are now known as Lafayette and Terre Haute, Indiana, respectively.

Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!

Identify or Jail (ID Refusal) illegal detainment
Identify or Jail is what we were told, for hear say of breaking “private policy”. Illegal detainment according to Oregon law and Id refusal was necessary when standing up for are rights. Not a Sovereign Citizen.
I was playing music and broke policy when a homeless vagrant called the cops. They took the word as gospel.Ive been busking during the traveling season. It lets me get practice in, make people happy, and enables me to save enough money to Record My First Profession FULL STUDIO ALBUM.
#IDRefusal #Freedom #Outlaw #Music #Tyrant
Showing how to stand up for your rights by owning cops when they are asking for identification. ID refusal to police at its best.
The problem has been that the people that hold signs asking for gas money and usually fake needs that support habits call me in to the law with fake alegations, such as I sell cds. The law comes and never asks for my side of any story. I want to be left alone, if you check me out on facebook you can tell I make people smile and don't bother a soul.
I was protecting my husband as best I could. The cops become SUPER aggressive around him because he has an attitude from being pushed in the past. And pushed for nothing and a lot, just like myself. Y'all have a great day!

Stop and identify statutes are statutory laws in the United States that authorize police[1] to legally demand the identity of someone whom they reasonably suspect of having committed a crime. If there is no reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed, is being committed, or is about to be committed, an individual is not required to provide identification, even in Stop and ID states.
The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures and requires any warrant to be judicially sanctioned and supported by probable cause. Terry v. Ohio, 392 U.S. 1 (1968) established that it is constitutionally permissible for police to temporarily detain a person based on an articulable reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed, and to conduct a patdown for weapons based on a reasonable belief that the person is armed. The question whether it is constitutionally permissible for the police to demand that a detainee provide his or her name was considered by the U.S. Supreme Court in Hiibel v. Sixth Judicial District Court of Nevada, 542 U.S. 177 (2004), which held that the name disclosure did not violate the Fourth Amendment prohibition on unreasonable searches and seizures. The Hiibel case also held that, because Hiibel had no reasonable belief that his name would be used to incriminate him, the name disclosure did not violate the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination; however, the Court left open the possibility that Fifth Amendment right might apply in situations where there was a reasonable belief that giving a name could be incriminating.[2] The Court accepted the Nevada supreme court interpretation of the Nevada statute that a detained person could satisfy the Nevada law by simply stating his name. The Court did not rule on whether particular identification cards could be required, though the court did mention a California law requiring credible and reliable identification had been struck down for vagueness.[3][4]

Benjamin Franklin enlists the help of young people to record the happenings leading up to and during the Revolution for his newspaper the Pennsylvania Gazette. First, there is a James Hiller, a patriot who tends to act before he thinks and is, at times, too quick a judge in his search for American heroes. Next is Henri, a French orphan who's only quest is for food. Lastly, a young woman named Sarah Phillips joins the team; the daughter of an ex-English general with strong views opposing slavery. Together, they travel the colonies witnessing the sacrifices made for freedom.
Sarah Phillips (voiced by Reo Jones)
A bright-eyed girl from England, Sarah travels to the Thirteen Colonies in 1773 in search of her father, Major Phillips, who was last heard exploring the region of Ohio; upon her arrival, she is warmly welcomed by and lives as a guest of Benjamin Franklin. Her mother, Lady Phillips, remains in England and is a good friend to Dr. Franklin. However, with the possibility of a war between the American colonists and the English mother country, she decides that she will become a reporter for Franklin's newspaper in order to offer a more balanced perspective to the press. Sarah believes firmly in the power of words and equal rights for all, and is never afraid to speak her mind. At the start of the series, she is a firm loyalist, which sparks many arguments between her and James. Later in the series, Sarah has a change of heart and realizes how much she has come to understand the people of the colonies and ends up supporting the Revolution. Some men know the way to her heart - good manners; when this happens, James can seem almost jealous, although near the end of the series she appears to feel more than friendship for James. Throughout the series, Sarah and James grow closer. At the end of the series, her mother, Lady Phillips, joins Sarah and her father in the United States and Sarah hopes to explore more of her adopted country.
James Hiller (voiced by Chris Lundquist)
A young boy orphaned in childhood because of a lightning storm that burned his childhood home down with his parents inside. At age fourteen, James greatly admires Benjamin Franklin, whose invention of the lightning rod saved many from the same tragedy. Jealous, street-smart and impulsive, James pursues the revolution from a slightly one-sided perspective - something that prompts Sarah to counter his views. An apprentice in Franklin's Print Shop, James believes firmly in the American cause and will do almost anything to ensure that the people receive an honest view of what is happening. In the process, he also faces the less positive aspects of the political conflict that eventually forces his patriotic fervor into a new maturity. He highly values his friends, Sarah and Henri. He can be a little protective of Sarah while he attempts to keep Henri out of trouble, acting somewhat like an older brother figure to Henri. He is very laid back and is constantly reminded of his bad etiquette and poor table manners by Sarah, toward whom he shows feelings of what might be more than friendship.
Henri Richard Maurice Dutoit LeFevbre (voiced by Kathleen Barr)
An energetic boy from France, Henri's parents died on the voyage to America when a plague struck the ship and killed half of the people on board three weeks into the trip. The ship's captain exploited Henri afterwards because he had to pay off his family's debt to the captain. James and Moses smuggled Henri off the ship and the boy found a home in Benjamin Franklin's workshop. While he speaks French fluently, Dr. Franklin has insisted that Henri learn to speak, read, and write in both English and French. Henri's small size has proved more than useful to Sarah and James, though he has a tendency to land himself in all sorts of trouble while not fully understanding the dangers of the war.
Moses (voiced by D. Kevin Williams)
Born in Africa, Moses was brought in chains to America as a slave and sold on the block in Charleston, South Carolina. Because of his ingenuity, Moses learned to read, forge metal, and buy his freedom from his master, thus freeing himself from the slavery of the American south. To keep from being confused for a runaway slave, Moses is required to carry papers proving that he is a free man. He eventually moved to Philadelphia and found work at Dr. Franklin's Print Shop. His brother, Cato, had not been so fortunate but later escaped, joining the British troops as a soldier to earn his freedom. Cato appears again at the end of the series when he does not tell on an African American Patriot spy, James Armistead, whose spying was crucial to the American victory at Yorktown, which ends the war for American independence. He looks out for Dr. Franklin's young wards, especially Henri.

Painting a Song | Melissa McCracken | TEDxLafayetteCollege
What if you could see music in vivid color? Artist Melissa McCracken explains what it’s like to visualize music as a flow of textures and hues. Through a neurological phenomenon called synesthesia, Melissa uses her unique sensory cross-wiring to paint her favorite songs.
Melissa McCracken is synesthetic artist. In her late teens, she discovered she had a rare neurological condition called synesthesia, allowing her to virtually see music as a mix of hues and textures. After graduating from William Jewell College in 2013 with a degree in Psychology, Melissa utilized her condition to create dynamic and interactive works of art. Combining her love of both music and visual aesthetics, Melissa allows the audience to take a look at the world through the eyes of a synesthete. Melissa has been featured in Oprah Magazine, MTV News, CNN’s Great Big Story, and Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine.

How a La-Z-Boy recliner is designed and made.
What started out as a seasonal porch chair ended up being a staple of the American living room.
Cousins Edward Knabusch and Edwin Shoemaker designed a wood slat outdoor folding chair from orange crates in 1928 - the first La-Z-Boy recliner. A comfortable concept, the chair followed the contour of a person’s body, both sitting up and leaning back. In 1927, the cousins abandoned secure jobs, joined forces, and invested in their own furniture business in Monroe, Michigan. Suddenly, Knabusch, a woodworker, became the marketer, and Shoemaker, originally a farmer, became an engineer. An important furniture buyer refused to purchase any La-Z-Boys from the cousins because at that time La-Z-Boys while very comfortable were only seasonal porch chairs. The buyer advised the inventors to upholster the chair and sell it as a year-round piece. The upholstered recliner was a great success. With financial help from friends and family, Knabusch and Shoemaker patented their invention and registered their trademarks.
In 1931, Knabusch and Shoemaker received a patent for the first automatic recliner.
La-Z-Boy rode their solid reputation and emerged as the Baby Boom favorite into the 1950s. During 1970s and 1980s La-Z-Boy hired several big name celebrities for their ad campaign such as actor Jim Backus (Thurston Howell III on Gilligan’s Island) and actor and former Detroit Lions Alex Karras. Today La-Z-Boy is truly a 21st Century forward thinking furniture and home decor company with retail design showrooms across the United States and around the world.

Yutaka Sone: Island at David Zwirner Gallery New York
| Japanese artist Yutaka Sone's current exhibition at David Zwirner in New York brings together marble sculptures and trees made predominantly from rattan. It's Yutaka Sone's fifth solo show since his first exhibition at the gallery in 1999.
The first room of the exhibition which is titled Island is dominated by one of the highlights of the show, a large marble sculpture with the name Little Manhattan (2007-2009). The two-and-a-half ton block turns out to be a detailed, intricately carved model of the island of Manhattan. Yutaka Sone used photographic reproductions, imagery from Google Earth, and several helicopter rides to render Manhattan with its Central Park, skyscrapers, streets, avenues, and the bridges to the east and west to scale.
The second room presents an arrangement of marble works and rattan trees. The trees are made from rattan woven around a metal armature, the leaves and stems have been painted with acrylic paint. Six Banana Trees (2008-2010) are complemented by a Travelers Palm (2011) with its flat, fan-like shape.
Yutaka Sone was born in 1965 in Shizuoka, Japan. He studied architecture at the Tokyo Geijutsu University. The artist predominantly works in sculpture, but also uses painting, drawing, photography, video, and performance as means of expression.
Yutaka Sone's work was shown in a number of group exhibitions in the United States and abroad, including Glasstress 2011 in Venice, BadLands at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporar Art, the Whitney Biennial 2004, the Sao Paulo Biennial 2003, and the Istanbul Biennial 2001. He had two solo exhibitions recently in Tokyo: Yutaka Sone: Snow at Maison Hermès Le Forum in 2010 and Yutaka Sone: Perfect Moment at Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in 2011.
Yutaka Sone: Island at David Zwirner in New York runs until October 29, 2011.
Yutaka Sone: Island at David Zwirner, New York. Opening reception, September 20, 2011.
