The Best Little Cigar Shop in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
This is the factory and factory store outlet for CaOba and (formerly) Cohiba Cigars. However, the Cohiba name is a registered name for original Cuban cigars and thus they are not allowed to be made in the Dominican Republic any longer. This was decided in the World Trade Organisation(WTO). Since this vid was made both of my friends have left El Conde , but the shop still remains.
Arturo Fuente Opus X Cigar UNBOXING Fuente Fuente OpusX Robusto Dominican Republic Puro REBOXING
This cigar commands respect. This is a puro Dominican Republic cigar. Arturo Fuente is arguably the most popular name in the cigar industry. Unfortunately, I could only afford this little guy because I bought the 20 years Opus X first and didn't have much left after that investment.
I'm not putting up this video because these cigars are frequently counterfeited. Even though there are fake versions of this cigar out there, I believe that the stores where we buy cigars most likely sell us the real thing.
So, unless you're buying an Opus X somewhere deep off the beaten path in Asia, you should be just fine. But just in case, I made this video and I hope you enjoy it.

DBL Dominican Big Leaguer Cigar Factory Tour - Top Rated Hand Rolled Cigars
DBL Dominican Big League cigars are the new kid on the block, but they are quickly being recognized as some of the best hand-rolled Dominican cigars. The team is out on the road again, this time touring the tobacco growing region around Santiago. Along the way we are checking out some of the better Cigar rolling factories, sampling some of those great Dominican cigars, and sipping a little Dominican coffee and cocoa.
Dominican cigars are recognized worldwide as some of the finest available, and the DBL cigars are among the best.
Dominican Big Leaguer (DBL) cigars was founded by Francisco Almonte in 2013. Francisco learned the art, craftsmanship, and business of cigars while working for two giants in the industry, Carlos Fuente (A. Fuente Cigars) and Litto Gomez (La Flor Dominican Cigars). Francisco's brother Martin spent 19 years with A. Fuente where he was the supervisor of quality of the Hall Of Fame Room where Carlito made the Opus X, Hemingway, Don Carlos and others. Francisco and Martin have been growing the DBL brand for 3 years now.
In the tasting room you are welcome to sit down and enjoy some of the best Dominican coffee in town, of course with their signature a hint of Dominican chocolate.
This little boutique cigar factory in the heart of the cigar capital has grown to over 20 factory employees including 7 cigar rollers that pump out about 6000 cigars per week.
Oh, DBL is not just a cigar factory but they also own their own farms with over 25 acres of tobacco fields where they grow high-end leaves like Piloto Cubano, Corojo 99, Criollo 98, and Habano leaf which are all used in their cigars. We hear they will be expanding their farm opertaions to 49 acres later this year.
The first floor is where the leaf is sorted out and classified by color and quality to determine wrapper, filler, and binder leaf. There are 7 rolling tables where you are welcome to watch the cigar rollers do their magic. The aging room is also on the first floor. This is where they store the cigars for at least 6 months before boxing them up ready for sale and shipping.
The second floor is where they do the fermentation. There a couple of rooms dedicated to this process. If you have ever been in a fermentation room you will know why you always want to smell the foot of a cigar for ammonia. You can be knocked out with the ammonia that exhausts from this process. So if you smell ammonia on that foot it means the fermentation may not have been complete. This is why DBL does a second fermentation on tobaccos they purchase. Also the second floor is a where the leaf is deveined before being sent down to the sorting area.
