AS THEY REALLY WERE: The Citizens of Alnwick 1831
AS THEY REALLY WERE: The Citizens of Alnwick 1831
KEITH MIDDLEMAS Book Number: 76939 Product format: Hardback
Percy Forster (born 1801) faithfully recorded in his own notebook portrait sketches of his fellow citizens in the village of Alnwick in 1831. He went on to modest fame as painter and exhibitor at the RA, the Scottish Academy and elsewhere. Made in the year of the first ever census, his portrait sketches are a unique document in British history. There is no other comparable group of images representing such a cross section of local society presented without the slightest deference to lawyers, shopkeepers, small businessmen, labourers, servants and mothers with children. Here is the shepherd with his collie dog Hector Thompson, the keen fisherman and chemist James Wilson, the celebrated violin player Tom Coward, the boy street seller with duck and kippers and Jackie Thew aged 97 in his silk top hat and cane. The miraculous survival of this record, each with character and occupation identified and recorded in terms of clothing, attitude and attributes, has allowed Keith Middlemas to explore the social, cultural, economic and political structures of one of the major market towns of northern England at a time when the impact of the Industrial Revolution and political reform were about to transform the community. 176pp, 9 x 11.

Alnwick Castle Duke of Northumberland ANNE-MARIE TREVELYAN MP Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Case
NATIONAL GALLERIES OF SCOTLAND - OFCOM DSMA-NOTICE NEWS BLACKOUT:
MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA EXTRACTS:
The sensational Carroll Foundation Trust and parallel Gerald 6th Duke of Sutherland Trust multi-billion dollar corporate identity theft offshore tax fraud bribery case has revealed that the entire contents of Gerald Carroll’s multi-million dollar Eaton Square Belgravia penthouse and Westminster residences in central London were “stolen” including the theft of priceless US Anglo-Irish Scottish Russian national treasures collections which included rare illuminated manuscripts dating from the thirteenth century.
Sources have confirmed that the world renowned Carroll Chair of Irish History attached to Hertford College Oxford University and the Carroll Institute academic research establishment have also been the “target” of the FBI Scotland Yard “named” Withersworldwide and Slaughter & May law firms trans-national crime syndicate which continues to operate in the tax havens of the Bahamas Gibraltar and the City of London with impunity.
It has emerged that the Hugh 7th Duke of Westminster lawyers Boodle Hatfield executed forged and falsified lease documentation of the Belgravia residence to effectively impulse the seizure of the property and trigger the co-ordinated break-ins burglaries and theft of the Carroll Institute archival records “centered around” one of the finest collections of Irish books and manuscripts in private ownership in the world.
Conservative Campaign Headquarters leaked sources have said that the FBI Scotland Yard criminal “standard of proof” prosecution files have stated that Mark Field MP for the Cities of London and Westminster attended meetings with Scotland Yard over a lengthy period of time whilst further major offences were being “targeted” at Gerald Carroll’s residences.
It is believed that voice transcripts of the Mark Field meetings with Scotland Yard have named the “high value crime scene” locations which include Alban Shipping secure storage facility Luton Bedfordshire Red Self Storage Dartford Kent and Five Oaks Lane Hainault Essex and the Culver Square Shopping Centre Colchester Essex.
In a stunning twist it has emerged that a former Surveyor of the Queen’s Works of Art Sir Hugh Roberts has been named as an “expert witness” surrounding the George 5th Duke of Sutherland Trust estate interests “centered around” the Duke of Sutherland Art Collection Trust the Bridgewater Art Collection Trust and the world renowned eclectic Carroll Art Collection Trust.
Scotland Yard leaked sources have said that the Gerald Carroll Trusts art collections were the subject of a systematic fraudulent break-up and theft operation executed by a bewildering array of City of London law firms “centered around” Taylor Wessing Withersworldwide Constantine Cannon Slaughter & May Clifford Chance Charles Russell Speechlys Dentons and the Queen’s lawyers Farrer & Co “central actors” in the much wider corporate identity liquidation bank fraud heist which stretches the globe.
Sir Hugh Roberts prior to his current position was a director of the Christie’s fine art auction house and along with Sotheby’s were known to have been advisers to George 5th Duke of Sutherland and the Carroll Art Collection Trust for many years.
Scotland Yard leaked sources have said that the files contain a compelling forensic evidential paper trail which surrounds the multiple criminal offences which were executed by the Phillips auctioneers and Bonhams auctioneers syndicate. Phillips and Bonhams are known to have been effectively a criminal underworld clearing house for the systematic break-up and liquidation of major parts of the Carroll Art Collection Trust spanning a bizarre ten to twelve year period.
Well seasoned fine art experts in New York and London are believed to have recently remarked that the Duke of Sutherland Art Collection Trust and Carroll Art Collection Trust affair is most likely the largest ever art fraud heist case in living memory.
The Carroll Foundation Trust files are held within a complete lockdown at the FBI Washington DC field office and the Metropolitan Police Scotland Yard under the supervision of the commissioner Cressida Dick QPM who is known to have an intimate knowledge of this major public interest case.

LONDON: the beautiful FOUNTAINS ⛲ of TRAFALGAR SQUARE (England)
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the historic Trafalgar Square and its magnificent fountains in Central London. It is a public square in the City of Westminster, Central London, built around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. Its name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, a British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars with France and Spain that took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar, Spain.
The site of Trafalgar Square had been a significant landmark since the 13th century and originally contained the King's Mews. The 169-foot (52 m) Nelson's Column at its centre is guarded by four lion statues. A number of commemorative statues and sculptures occupy the square, but the Fourth Plinth, left empty since 1840, has been host to contemporary art since 1999.
The square has been used for community gatherings and political demonstrations, including Bloody Sunday, the first Aldermaston March, anti-war protests, and campaigns against climate change. A Christmas tree has been donated to the square by Norway since 1947 and is erected for twelve days before and after Christmas Day. The square is a centre of annual celebrations on New Year's Eve. It was well known for its feral pigeons until their removal in the early 21st century.
London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.

Top 10 Most Beautiful Castles in England
Top 10 Most Beautiful Castles in England
1. Windsor Castle -Located about an hour west of London, Windsor Castle is often called the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world. It is one of the official residences of Queen Elizabeth II who spends many weekends of the year at the castle, using it for both state and private entertaining. The earliest surviving buildings at Windsor date from the reign of Henry II who came to the throne in 1154.
2. Bodiam Castle -Located to the southeast of London in East Sussex, Bodiam Castle is considered one of the best examples of a Medieval fortress, despite the fact that the 14th century structure was built more for status than for strength. After the conclusion of the 100 Years' War, Richard II granted veteran soldier and landowner Sir Edward Dalyngigge a license to fortify his home as a measure of protection against French invasion.
3. Warwick Castle -Warwick Castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 on a bend of the River Avon. Since its construction in the 11th century, the castle has undergone structural changes with additions of towers and redesigned residential buildings. Originally a wooden structure, it was rebuilt in stone in the 12th century. During the Hundred Years War, the facade opposite the town was refortified, resulting in one of the most recognizable examples of 14th century military architecture.
4. Tower of London -Construction for the Tower of London began in 1066 on the north bank of the River Thames. Although built as a fortified castle and royal residence, it was mostly used as a prison from 1100 to 1952. Many famous figures of English history were imprisoned within its walls, including royals like Richard II, Henry VI, Edward V and Elizabeth I. Two of Henry VIII's six wives were beheaded on the Tower Green.
5. Bamburgh Castle -Situated on the shore of England's northeast county of Northumberland, Bamburgh Castle stands on an outcrop of volcanic stone along the coastline. With origins that date back as far as the 3rd or 4th century, Bamburgh Castle may have been the capital of the kingdom ruled by the native Britons known as Din Guarie. The core of present castle was built by the Normans in the 11th century, and it's believed that Henry II ordered the construction of the castle keep.
6. Arundel Castle -The seat of the Duke of Norfolk, Arundel Castle is located in West Sussex in the south of England. One of the best of the continually inhabited castles in England, Arundel Castle features a well-preserved interior filled with rare paintings, tapestries and furnishings.
7. Leeds Castle -Large, grand, intact and surrounded by a wide moat, Leeds Castle is what many people imagine when they think of an English castle. Located in Kent in the southeast corner of England, the castle was constructed during the reign of Henry I and served as residence for royalty for much of its more than 900-year-long history.
8. Framlingham Castle -Located in the east of England in Suffolk, Framlingham castle is a perfect example of the classic motte and bailey fortifications of the 11th and 12th century. Bailey is the term for the protective outer wall of the castle; motte refers to the hill or raised earthwork upon which the castle is constructed. Today, the stockade and 13 towers attract visitors who come to walk along the top of the castle wall.
9. Alnwick Castle -The seat of the Duke of Northumberland, Alnwick is the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, the Queen's favorite weekend home. Built during the 11th century, Alnwick Castle has been home to the Percy family for the last 700 years. Although the present Duke and Duchess still live in a section of the castle, the rest is open to the public seven months out of the year.
10.Corfe Castle -The ruins of Corfe Castle rest on a hill near a quaint village of the same name in the southern county of Dorset. Built in the 11th and 12th century, the castle was designed to intimidate would-be attackers with a limestone keep that stood 20 meters (70 feet) tall. The castle was famously defended for three years during the English Civil War by Lady Bankes.
