So... what did you think? Let me know in the comments below!
After a short breeze by the floating market - Chew Jetty we headed on our way to the new hilltop Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple.
The temple was opened in 2012 and has great views over Georgetown, Penang.
The temple is also known as Waterfall Hilltop Temple or as Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Murugan Temple (say that 10x fast!) is the best Hindu Indian Temple I have ever seen!
At the top of 500 incredible steps we got to see the spectacular view of Georgetown, and to also go inside the temple itself.

Travel around Georgetown PENANG HILL, MONKEY BEACH, ARULMIGU & KEK LOK SI Temple,
Penang Hill is a hill resort comprising a group of peaks on Penang Island, Malaysia. It is located within the Air Itam suburb, 9 km west of the center of George Town. Penang Hill is also known by the Malay name Bukit Bendera, which actually refers to Flagstaff Hill, the most developed peak.
The Kek Lok Si Temple is a Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia, and is also an important pilgrimage centre for Buddhists from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia.
The Balathandayuthapani Temple, officially the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Kovil, better known as the Waterfall Hill Temple or Thaneer Malai by locals, is a temple complex located in George Town, Penang. The main deity of this temple is Murugan. Visitors need to climb 513 stairs to reach the temple.
Penang Waterfall Hill Temple
Balathandayuthapani Temple is a small shrine at the base of the Penang Botanic Gardens Waterfall. According to popular belief, a sadhu (holy man) chose a spot close to the waterfalls for a shrine dedicated to Murugan. They worshipped the Vel (sacred spear) of Thanneermalaian (Lord Murugan's name). Thaneermalaian means he who dwells at the waterfall, about Murugan and his shrine at the base of the waterfall.
The original Balathandayuthapani Temple was the main temple for the worship of Murugan until 1850 when it had to be relocated as the British administration took over the area to establish a reservoir. The temple was given an eleven-acre plot of land along the then Waterfall Road. The relocated temple, located at a perch overlooking George Town, was completed in 1850. Its hilltop location is one of the main destinations of devotees during the annual Thaipusam festival. The silver chariot procession begins from Kovil Veedu (Temple House) in Penang Street and travels along the roads of Georgetown before reaching the Waterfall Temple.

MyVisit Malaysia- Sri Aruloli Thirumurugan Temple PanangHillMalaysia- Dr Narotam Dewan
DEDICATED TO MY TAMIL DOCTOR FRIENDS WITH WHOM WE LIVED AS A FAMILY WHEN I WAS WORKING AT CENTRAL HOSPITAL KHUMS LIBYA.
On a high magnificent hill at Palua Panang Malaysia I was surprised to see an ancient Hindu Tamil Temple where the worship of God was going on well attended by locals and visitors. Actually few centuries back Chola Chola kings of south India had vast naval fleets and navy. There was regular trade and relationship between Mauritius, Singapore, Ceylon, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, Jawa, Sumatra, Malaysia and people from India had settled and given their civilization to these places in many ways. With time and with Arabs, British, French, Dutch, Japanese, Chines and others coming from outside, now there is a mixed culture at most of these places. The glimpse of history are seen here and there like kept alive at this hill in Panang.
