England Tourist Arundel Castle
Overlooking the river Arun and town of Arundel in the English county of West Sussex is Arundel Castle. Home to the Dukes of Norfolk and their ancestors for nearly 1,000 years it is one of the longest inhabited country houses in England.
If you intend visiting the castle plan to arrive by midday, the castle covers a lot of ground and it takes a long time to see everything. The castle closes about 4:30 pm.
There are four ticket prices which allow admission to various parts of the Castle. You can tour the Castle Grounds & Gardens & visit Fitzalan Chapel. Climb the steps to the Shell Keep and on up to the battlements. Explore the main rooms of the castle like the Library which has one of the finest Regency interiors, the Armoury with its collection of historic weaponry, the Drawing Room with its splendidly carved chimneypiece. See the stained glass windows, furniture, tapestries and rare collection of paintings by artists including Van Dyck, Gainsborough and Canaletto. Then finally climb the grand staircase to the Castle Bedrooms and Victorian bathrooms.

Arundel Ancient Castle, Stately Home and Beautiful Gardens, West Sussex, UK – A Day Out - July 2019
This video includes views of the Arundel Castle which has Norman origins from 1067, Stately Home and Gardens.
We climbed the steep narrow winding stairs in the castle that were made to help stop the enemy entering and I have included clips of the tower, the views, some displays that created the lifestyle taken place in the castle, also knowledge from the friendly guides.
The Fitzalan chapel was founded in 1380. Restoration has been made over the years and it is still used.
This video includes some of the beautiful inspirational gardens, and relaxing waterfalls. The present Duchess of Norfolk has continued to extend the planting at Arundel and created new gardens too over the last 20 years. The Fitzalan Chapel Garden is peacefully planted as a knot garden, White flower beds are around a small pond and there are 4 Palm trees.
Included are some clips of the stately homes Bedrooms that have recently been used. The sumptuous Victoria Room was especially made for Queen Victoria & Prince Albert 1846 by George Morant, but they did not stay in the room, they were given a suite of 6 rooms.
The clips include beautiful carved furniture, table decorations and armoury.
We enjoyed tea and cake in The Fitzalan (not shown in the video), there is also a restaurant.
We were able to view areas of our choice at our own pace. A good 3 to 4 hours is recommended.
This is only a very small view of this wonderful historic venue. The friendly Guides were very helpful and willing to pass on their knowledge.
Clips are also included of the Castles beautiful surroundings where you can stroll into or out of the town.
There are special events held at the castle during the year.
Parking is opposite the castle.
Thank you to Edward Norfolk for a lovely day and thank you for watching.
I look forward to your comments - Enjoy

Arundel Is one of the most beautiful towns in southern England. For it's small size it surprisingly pacts a lot into it. Apart from the castle there is a cathedral, and the amazing collector earl gardens.

Arundel Castle Gardens - Tulip Festival 2019
I was invited back to Arundel Castle to document the Tulip festival with some drone and ground filming. What made a change from last year were blue skies and sun basking over the gardens accentuating the colours.

Arundel Castle and Gardens, West Sussex
At the weekend we were invited to visit the picturesque Arundel Castle in West Sussex. No relation to the Arendelle Castle of Frozen fame (although I think that Mia was convinced), entrance to the castle includes a visit to the beautiful castle gardens, a tour of the spectacular castle rooms and bedrooms, and a chance to see the very oldest part of the castle, parts of which date from 1068, with lovely views across the downland and out to sea.
We had just dug out our old digital cameras for the children so they had a great time snapping photos of the things that they saw.
I hope you like my quick look around the castle!

Arundel is a market town and civil parish in a steep vale of the South Downs, West Sussex, England. It lies 49 miles (79 km) SSW of London, 18 miles (29 km) WNW of the English Channel city of Brighton, and 10 miles (16 km) east of the county city of Chichester. Larger nearby towns include Worthing, Littlehampton and Bognor Regis.
The much-conserved town with large green buffers has a medieval castle and Roman Catholic cathedral. Although smaller in population than most other parishes, Arundel has a museum and comes second behind much larger Chichester in its number of listed buildings in West Sussex. The River Arun runs through the eastern side of the town.
Arundel is also home to Arundel Castle, seat of the Duke of Norfolk; and to Arundel Cathedral, seat of the (Catholic) Bishop of Arundel and Brighton.

Why Was Arundel Castle so Formidable?
Right at the nucleus of Arundel Castle is its stone keep, situated at the fortification's highest point. This was where the defenders would come and make their final stand if the castle was ever besieged.
It was built on top of the Norman motte following William the Conqueror's conquest of southern England in 1066 and was originally constructed of timber. Yet in c.1140 the wooden keep was demolished and replaced with a stronger, stone one.
Recently Dan visited the formidable bastion to understand why this fortress was considered almost-impregnable.
Arundel Castle, West Sussex, England
Arundel Castle was established by Roger de Montgomery in 1067 as part of William the Conqueror's program to establish new fortifications. Since the 11th century it has served as the home for the Duke of Norfolk. The current Duke, and his family, preserve the monument, allowing public visits, (while retaining a little privacy for themselves). We were grateful for their hospitality.
The castle has been extensively restored, changed, and remodeled over the centuries - but in a thoughtful manner. Today visitors can explore ancient, (and more modern), areas that provide a genuine feeling for this exquisite monument.
