City tour of Bari, Italy featuring St. Nicholas festival and celebrations. Bari is the capital of Apuglia (Puglia) region on the Adriatic sea in southern Italy. Being a coastal city, Bari boasts a beautiful seafront promenade and an old port. The main city's attractions in this video include: the magnificent old town with St. Nicholas cathedral and Bari Cathedral San Sabino, the Norman Swabian castle, Teatro Margherita, Teatro Piccinni, Prefecture palace, Teatro Petruzzeli, Piazza Mercantile, Via Sparano, and more.
During my visit, Bari was celebrating St. Nicholas feast with spectacular street processions, fireworks, a parade and religious ceremonies.

...Upon our arrival in Bari airport, we first headed to the car rentals and rented an economy car with @avis. Instead we received an upgrade and got a brand new Seat SUV (it literally had driven just 18km!) ???? We went straight to Lecce, booked a room in @andsobnb which is an amazing bed & breakfast hotel in the heart of historical part of Lecce. This will be our starting point from where we will be visiting all other cities in this beautiful region. Here you will find their famous homemade pasta #orecchiette and #tarallini on almost every corner. Generally pasta orecchiette is made by local Italian “nonnas” ????????. In restaurants ask for 'vino locale' ????, which will go perfectly with their homemade pasta and fresh seafood.

© CLAUDIO MORTINI* Bari, incantevole capoluogo pugliese attualmente abitato da circa 320.000 abitanti, a partire dagli anni '90 ha conosciuto una vera e propria fase di rinascita. In questi ultimi anni il centro è stato interamente restaurato ed è ora avvolto da un'atmosfera suggestiva, stimolante, mentre la malavita ed il crimine sono realtà sempre più sporadiche. Tuttavia, nonostante questa trasformazione, Bari non può ancora essere definita una città turistica a 360 gradi, anche se il Comune ha in mente ulteriori progetti ambiziosi per una città che vorrebbe diventare la prossima Barcellona, con il mare, la storia e l'architettura che dovrebbero attirare flussi turistici sempre più ingenti da tutto il mondo. Bari è una città molto antica, le cui origini affondano le proprie radici 3.500 anni prima dell'età del bronzo. Data la sua posizione geografica, Bari cominciò ben presto ad avviare scambi commerciali con i greci, anche se fu solo in epoca romana che l'insediamento cominciò a svilupparsi come città vera e propria. Nel 465 d.C. Bari fu elevata a sede vescovile, mentre nel 1025 la città fu annessa alla Santa Sede. Nel 1071 il centro fu conquistato da Roberto il Guiscardo che lo fece passare dall'orbita dell'Oriente bizantino a quella dell'Occidente latino, compiendo la svolta culturale più importante della storia di Bari. Fino al XVII secolo la città fu soggetta a periodiche fasi di declino così che, nel XVIII secolo, quando i Borboni salirono al potere, Bari era l'ombra di sé stessa: il nucleo urbano stava soffocando all'interno delle sue mura, perciò fu concepito un ambizioso progetto di espansione guidato da Gioacchino Murat che rilanciò l'insediamento come il principale porto della regione.
