Eating Steak in Buenos Aires at a fancy steakhouse (Don Julio) in Palermo Travel Video Transcript:
#eatArgentina
So we've ventured away from our neighborhood for today's food video. We are currently in Palermo. And we're eating at a place called Don Julio. This is a parrilla which means they focus on grilled meats. And it is a bit more upscale than the one we normally go to over in Recoleta. So it should be an interesting experience.
See if you like it Sam.
Good?
Esta bien.
So let's just take a minute to talk about the tablecloth. Yeah, so the first thing we noticed was just how like thick and durable. Like this is leather cowhide. Also, it is cool just the way that the sauces are presented here. We've got chimmichurri, we have the salsa and then over here the butter.
And show us that steak knife. Oh, yeah, this thing. This thing is incredible. This is actually heavy. I've never had any kind of knife that has felt as solid in my hands. Yeah, you can buy them at the restaurant but they're like 800 Pesos. It feels more like a dagger. It is a weapon. It is a weapon.
So we've got some bread fresh out of the oven. Look at that. I wonder if they make it here themselves because this thing is like piping hot. Ooh.
A nice way to start the meal. I just blew crumbs across the table.
Alright, so time to put the knife to good use. I'm cutting in to the bife de lomo. And this is our tenderloin which is nice and juicy. They way I like it.
Mmmmm.
Oh, wow. Honestly, that just melts in your mouth. That is probably the most tender tenderloin we've had to date in Argentina. I'd have to say. But let's add some chimichurri. Don't forget the chimmichurri. Can't forget that.
Let's see. Oh, lots of chimichurri there.
That's going to be nice and garlic-y. Flavorful.
Mmmmm.
Look at that piece of meat.
I love how easy that knife just penetrates the meat. It is just so tender. It is like cutting through butter. It is like cutting through butter with that knife.
Oh yeah. That's a nice piece of meat. Yeah, I can totally see why it is so highly rated. Now we know why it is popular.
So this is our first time having grilled veggies with steak. What do you think? Yeah, I think I may even prefer it to salad. It is just juicier and I don't know it just brings out the flavors more when they're grilled. Especially the zucchini. It's awesome stuff.
Alright, so we just finished up that meal. How are you feeling? Yeah, it was really good quality steak that is for sure. The portion was quite a bit smaller than what we had at Parrilla Pena though. And to be perfectly honest I prefer the taste at Parrilla Pena as well too. Okay, and what about the price? The price was over 700 Pesos. So this was not a cheap meal. I think we were looking at something over 50 US dollars total for the meal. But you know we are in a fancier neighborhood. Yeah. And this place is really popular with tourists. Yes. So we kind of have that coming. It is a very touristy restaurant. Yeah. But I prefer the neighborhood feel of say a local parrilla compared to somewhere like this. This was a cool experience because this was kind of our first time at a more upscale kind of grill. Fancy spot. But I definitely prefer Parrilla Pena. That is still my all-time favorite spot to get a good steak in Buenos Aires.
This is part of our Travel in Argentina series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Argentine culture, Argentine cuisine, Argentine food, Argentinian food & Argentinian cuisine.

ASADO, Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA
This was an evening when I enjoyed some of the best meats in the world. The Argentineans take their meats very seriously and the perfect way to enjoy a traditional Argentinean meal is to head to a place that serves you with not just the finest quality meats but also gives you an authentic Argentinean experience.
The 5 course dinner experience at Steak by Luis will be cherished for a long time to come. Yes, it was way too much food, or, rather too much meat but no one was complaining. Dont leave Buenos Aires without a true ‘Asado’ dinner!

Anthony Bourdain tells Anderson Cooper that he returned from Argentina and wept at the sight of vegetables.

Eating Argentinean food in Buenos Aires (Locro, Asado, empanadas)
▶ Subscribe:
Our second video in Buenos Aires is all about FOOD.
We:
- Try an epic traditional Argentinian barbecue (asado) plus various other types of beef, beer and wine at a fantastic small restaurant called Mi Barrio & Mi Gente. (address is Gral. Jose Artigas 704).
- Eat locro (traditional South American stew/soup) in a traditional Buenos Aires restaurant called Cumana ( address: Rodríguez Peña 1149, 1020 CABA) with a bottle of malbec and some yum spinach pasta
- Go shopping for groceries at our local supermarket (we love cooking at home to save money and be budget travellers!)
- Make home made Korean soup for dinner
We try to include our tips for having a great, cheap and fun backpacking adventure in South America as we go. Our Spanish is (very) slowly getting better!
Who are we?
We are Tom and Yenny, two New Zealand young professionals who have quit our job and are learning Spanish as we travel through South America! We always like to travel on a budget so please subscribe to see all the places we go and all of our stingy ways of going there!
We love cooking, checking out new places, trying new types of food, beer and wine, camping, and anything else that we haven't tried (outrageous weird foods included!).
Where are we going?
We're travelling throughout every South American country that speaks Spanish and (if we have money left!) heading up to Central America too!
We would LOVE to hear from you about your experiences in South America, your travel experiences or any other tips or thoughts! Please make sure to comment if you've got anything you think we should do while we're here.

Argentinian Food Feast ????FIRST TIME TRYING ASADO ????What to Eat in Argentina.
Argentina Asado Feast! While in Mendoza, Argentina we thought it was the perfect time to try Argentinian food! This was our first time trying Argentinian Asado/Parrilla!
To start things off, earlier in the day we tried a food that came to Argentina from Italy, Milanese! Made from veal, the meat is pounded and breaded, this type was topped with cheese, bacon and green onion. We found it at Jebb’s in Chacras de Coria.
After this we got a small treat from a local bakery, a cookie called Alfajores. We had tried these in Chile and we’re happy to try it again in Argentina.
Lastly we headed for a huge Asado meal at a restaurant called Anastasio El Pollo. Here we had Provolo (cheese melted over a fire served with fried bread), loads of Asado with tonnes of different types of meats, grilled veggies and chicken.
ABOUT ARGENTINIAN FOOD

ARGENTINEAN ASADO | Eating a Typical Argentine BBQ in Villa General Belgrano, Argentina
Come join us for an Argentinean Asado in Villa General Belgrano as we try a typical Argentine barbecue featuring numerous kinds of meats and offal. As per usual we arrived at the restaurant a little bit early, so we decided to take a riverside walk in Villa General Belgrano to kill a bit of time. If you arrive for dinner at 8 PM in Argentina you
ll definitely get a few stares and reveal yourself as a gringo. Typical dinner time would be from 9:30 PM to 11PM when restaurants really start to fill up.
Our Argentine Parrilla featured a delicious assortment of various meats and organs which we washed down with a Malbec wine. If you're visiting Villa General Belgrano and want a delicious asado for dinner you can find more information below:

ARGENTINEAN ASADO | Eating a Typical Argentine BBQ in Villa General Belgrano, Argentina:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.
From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.
