Follow our itinerary
Day one
Asahidake Onsen Yukomanso Ryokan.
How to go there:
From Shin Chitose station we took shinkansen to Sapporo (change train) and took another train straight to Asahikawa Station.
We had a lunch break and continue our journey to Asahidake Mountain.
They provide shuttle bus from 1430 Yen
Bus no 66 from bus stop 9
Please check your timing carefully as the frequency of the bus is low.
We booked from Agoda, cost around USD 359 for 3 person (dinner and breakfast included)
Day two
Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway
From our ryokan is around 20 mins walk but luckily the ryokan manager is kind enough to send us with his car.
From the ropeway entrance we took the same shuttle bus back to Asahikawa station. We had a lunch stop there, and instead of taking the train we actually took the bus back to Sapporo station. It’s slightly longer but it’s cheaper. So if you have the time, definitely opt for bus instead.
We paid 2060 Yen per person. You can buy ticket at counter or pay straight to the driver.
First day at Otaru we stayed at Grand Park Otaru
We booked from Indonesian travel app : Traveloka
Cost around Rp. 2.100.000 = 148 USD per night for 3 person (breakfast included)
Day 3
Nikka Whisky Distillery
Entrance is Free. Closed at 5pm
THE RYOKAN WITH PRIVATE ONSEN
Otaru Asarigawa Onsen Kourakuen
We booked from Japanichan
Cost around 100.000 Yen/night for 3 people because ryokan tends to charge per person. Price includes private onsen, private in room dining, and breakfast.

The House of Miyamoto: The Spirit of Sumo (Chichibu, Japan)
We are in Oku-Chichibu to visit a traditional Japanese ryokan, the House of Miyamoto, owned by a former professional sumo wrester, Kazuteru Miyamoto, formerly known as Tsurugidake Teruki. Miyamoto retired from the sumo world in 2012 due to injury, and has since concentrated on the family business. Miyamoto is currently the 12th head of the family.
SUBSCRIBE ▶︎
The House of Miyamoto in Ogano town has a history stretching back over 200 years. It was once a rich farmhouse that has now been converted into a small inn that can accommodate up to 6 groups at a time.
The House of Miyamoto brings the spirit of sumo wrestlers to its guests. If you are a fan of sumo, this place should be high on your priority list the next time you are in Japan. Even if you have no interest in sumo, it is still a highly enjoyable traditional Japanese experience that few other places can match.
Very closeby to the House of Miyamoto, is Miyamoto no Yu, which is an onsen facility & accommodation operated under the same brand, and offers a slightly more modern experience. It has a couple of very unique onsen baths there so check it out if you have spare time.
The House of Miyamoto does not have an official English title. It is sometimes referred to as Miyamoto-ke, or Miyamoto House, just to name two.

Japanese Ryokan Tour - AMAZING PRIVATE ONSEN in Hakone, Japan | $708.16 Per Night!
Staying at this Japanese ryokan (traditional inn) was truly incredible!

JUNE 2017 -
Yoshiike Ryokan - I paid 77,760 Japanese Yen (at the time $708.16 USD) for 1 night for 2 adults, 1 baby. It was very expensive, but it was truly an amazing Japanese cultural experience and the food was incredible. There are cheaper Japanese ryokans you can stay at, but usually they have a public onsen (Japanese hot-spring bath), rather than a private.
Ever since taking my first trip to Japan a few years ago, I had really wanted to stay in a Japanese ryokan, which is a traditional inn, usually that is somewhere in the beautiful mountains, with a hotspring onsen bath, and delicious Japanese local food served in your room.
On my most recent trip to Tokyo, my wife and I took the train to Hakone, about 1.5 hours from Tokyo in the mountains, and decided to stay at a ryokan for 1 night. The experience was truly incredible and our room was amazing, including a private onsen bath and amazing Japanese gardens to view from the window.

Japanese Inn & Kaiseki Cuisine: The Ryokan Stay Experience
A Traditional Japanese Inn stay can be the highlight of any trip to Japan, and this comprehensive tour of 13 hot spring towns will give you a complete picture of what to expect during a stay. From the tatami room to the kitchen and dining room, this is the story of the Ryokan.
After 20 years living in Japan, a Ryokan stay is the most authentic experience one can have traveling the country and Fukushima, Japan's third largest prefecture, is famous for that countryside charm and service found around its mountains. It's only a 75 minute Shinkansen train ride from Tokyo making it an ideal getaway from more crowded spots like Nikko and Hakone. In this video, you will see exactly what you will get from start to finish.
As Japan moves closer to the 2020 Olympics, services are catering more to international visitors and these hotels featured are all accommodating and friendly places, staff learning English to communicate with people from around the world.
▶︎ What is Kaiseki Ryori / Cuisine?
It's a traditional Japanese dinner with many courses including a starter, soup, side items, main course and dessert.
★ Sashimi / Sushi
★ Sukiyaki
★ Yakiniku
★ Tempura
★ Miso Soup
It's all here, and it's all prepared with local ingredients of the season, always freshly made in the kitchen.
▶︎ How much is a night at a Ryokan / Traditional Japanese Inn?
It is usually charged by the person instead of the room because it includes 2 meals, dinner and breakfast. On average, I have spent between 12,000 yen ($100) to 22,000 ($180) per person for a night and here is why it is worth it.
Of all the experiences you will have in Japan, this will be the one you remember the most, dressing in a cotton kimono (yukata) to walk down to dinner, bathing outdoors in a hot spring in the snow, extraordinary Japanese service, amazingly beautiful meals ... you're paying for an experience not just a stay.

Noboribetsu 登別市 ONSEN - Hot Spring in HOKKAIDO First Time! [Hokkaido Vlog]
***Japan With Me - Episode 10 (Stream at 1080p for BETTER-QUALITY video)*** Wow, this episode is kinda special cuz this is my very first time going to the ONSEN! My cousin really recommended this. She's like When you come to Hokkaido, you have to do it as this is what they are famous for! I'm taking to your another famous area in Hokkaido, called Noboribetsu! There are a lot of natural hot spring that you can enjoy! Being at the Onsen which I had no idea on what to do. I did watch some videos about the etiquette of going to a Japanese onsen but the feelings and the atmosphere were too overwhelm to comprehend. Anyway, all you need to know is that you have to change your clothes and leave completely naked before going to the actual bathhouse. Of course you have to take your shoes off at the entrance. They would give you two sets of towel, a small one to to bring in and the big to wipe after you're finished. Before you actually use the hot spring and other facilities, you have to take a shower and clean as much as you can. Not just for your own hygiene but the others too. Mainly, I just watched and followed the other guys. I never felt so shy and literally naked in my life!!! hahaha. It was truly an adventurous experience for me. Males and females are separate but still those weird feelings. I would recommend to do more research if you go alone like I did or go with your new local friends as they are not complete strangers nor your known friends. It took us quite a while like nearly 2 hrs from where we stayed to there. By buses it costed alright. Unfortunately for the limit of the time, we decided to take taxi for the bus stop to that hot spring place. It was expensive but worth it though. That day we didn't eat anything much. Thank you very much for watching. Don't forget to check out my other food videos and travel vlog series :) Follow me on IG @tovnadavid Kpop reaction channel Have a good day!

Japan Travel: Sounkyo Onsen Hiking tour Largest national park Hokkaido11
Japan Travel: Sounkyo Onsen Hiking tour Largest national park Hokkaido11
Daisetsuzan (大雪山) is Hokkaido's largest national park. It is a paradise for outdoor lovers, hikers, brown bears and deer. It is the first place in Japan to see autumn colors and snow each year.
Sounkyo (層雲峡) is a popular hot spring resort town in the north of Daisetsuzan National Park. It is located in a scenic narrow gorge that is flanked by 100 meter high, forested cliffs. There are a pleasant village center, onsen baths and two beautiful waterfalls in Sounkyo. Sounkyo is also a good base for hiking tours into the national park with ropeway access to nearby Mount Kurodake.
Sounkyo offers autumn leaf viewing, and one of the first places in Japan to see the seasonal spectacle. The colors typically start to appear around the summit of Mount Kurodake in mid September and then gradually move down the mountain slopes.
Onsen
Sounkyo offers some hot spring baths to soak in, including one public bath house, the Kurodake no Yu, located in the town center. This bath house has gender-segregated indoor and outdoor baths with limited views of the surrounding landscape. More hot spring bathing is available at the town's many ryokan. Several of them open their baths to non-staying guests during daytime for an admission fee of typically around 1000 yen.
Kurodake Ropeway
The Kurodake Ropeway provides visitors easy access into the higher parts of Daisetsuzan National Park, which departs from next to the Sounkyo Visitor Center in the back of the village center. At the top of the ropeway is a chair lift, which brings you to within a one hour hike of the summit of Mount Kurodake. The traditional 1-2 day tour for advanced hikers continues from the summit of Kurodake through the wild interior of the national park to the summit of Asahidake, from where one can descend to Asahidake Onsen.
Access Information
There are seven direct buses per day from Asahikawa Station to Sounkyo (110 minutes, 2100 yen one way).
Otherwise, you can ride a JR train to Kamikawa Station (40 minutes, around 2000 yen by limited express train or 70 minutes, 1070 yen by local train from Asahikawa) and catch a bus from there (30 minutes, 870 yen, 11 buses per day).
Some ryokan in Sounkyo provide a free shuttle bus for staying guests from Asahikawa or Sapporo.

Japan Vlogs 2 - The Japanese Alps are extremely beautiful!
This is about our second day in Japan. We started the Kurobe Tateyama Alpine route in Nagano, took different transportation methods, enjoyed beautiful scenery and ended the day at Mikurigaike Onsen, the highest onsen of Japan.
All filmed on the GoPro Hero 7.
Onsen in Hokkaido, Daisetsuzan national park (Asahidake Onsen): gorgeous sauna with outside pool
We drive all the way from Sapporo were we rented our 600c car, to arrive to Daisetsuzan national park, which is located more or less in the central part of the island of Hokkaido. Our accomodation in the town of Asahidake Onsen has a gorgeous Onsen (japanese version of sauna and steambath) with internal and external pool.
The external pool is in the middle of the forest so a dip in the night in the 42ºC pool is an overwhelming experience. Unfortunatelly men and women use different pools as you are supposed to be clotheless in an onsen.
