This Japan vlog shows why you need to visit the town of Higashikawa in Hokkaido, Japan. The countryside, especially up north in Hokkaido, turns into a magical winter wonderland where you can go snow shoeing, skiing, snowboarding, or towed around a field on an inflatable banana. There is SO MUCH snow everywhere and everything looks so beautiful.
We spent 3 nights staying in Higashikawa where we attended their annual snow and ice sculpture festival. We also went skiing at Canmore Village, went to the top of Asahidake Mountain, found the water source and explored the natural beauty of the region.

Mount Asahi (旭岳 Asahi-dake) is a mountain located in the town of Higashikawa, Hokkaido and the tallest mountain in the Japanese island of Hokkaido. It is part of the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group of the Ishikari Mountains, it is located in the northern part of the Daisetsuzan National Park.
The mountain is popular with hikers in the summer and can be easily reached from Asahidake Onsen via Asahidake Ropeway. During winter, the mountain is open for use by skiers and snowboarders.
Sugatami Pond, directly below the peak, is famous for its reflection of the peaks, snow, and steam escaping from the volcanic vents.

Mount Asahi (旭岳 Asahi-dake) is the tallest mountain in the Japanese island of Hokkaido, located in the town of Higashikawa. It's part of the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group of the Ishikari Mountains, located into the northern part of the Daisetsuzan National Park.

Challenging myself to edit only using Windows Live Movie Maker, how to make the story structure with not much footages, and not much option for the music moods.
The story is about us, FLY mates, after knowing each other for two weeks in Johor (November), we gotta meet again in Higashikawa-Japan for the whole February in 2016 for another short filmmaking. There are a lot of things happened between us, especially about how we react to snow (heheheh ^_^) and this video is one of the story.

We continue our trip to Hokkaido Prefecture with Phuong Anh Dao, star of the hit Vietnamese film Summer in Closed Eyes. First to Biei and its famous multicolored patchwork crops and 15-hectare flower fields. Here, Anh Dao has a korokke taste test. Next, to Higashikawa, famous for a shrine that's over 120 years old, an eatery featuring fresh local cuisine, and clear mountain water used to make tofu, coffee and more. Finally, to Mt. Asahidake for a ropeway ride and a scenic climb to cap off the trip.

Higashikawa is known for the Photo Koshien, where high-school students from all over Japan compete in photography. It is a town of 7,800, located in the inland basin of Kamikawa, central Hokkaido.
The eastern part of the town includes the highest peak (2,291m) of the Taisetsu Mountain range, and is a part of the Taisetsu National Park, the largest natural park in Japan with large scale forested areas. The foothills include the Asahidake Hot Springs surrounded by primary forests, Tenninkyo, which is tucked between sheer cliffs, and the Hagoromo Falls that fall from a height of 270meters, the highest in Hokkaido, and the natural Tenninkyo Hot Springs that flow in the ravine.

MCs Li Qiang and Isis venture to visit the highest peak in Hokkaido, Asahi-Dake aka Mt. Asahi! But before the climb, they stop by the charming brown rice ball shop specializing in using Higashikawa rice and ingredients, Genmai Omusubi Chamise. Ride the Mt. Asahi Ropeway to see the panoramic view of Hokkaido from the ropeway station 1600m high. The two MCs are impressed the intriguing knowledge their guide of 20yrs experience shares with them, Mr. Sakuma. Throughout the walk they meet different alpine plants, and spectacular views, one after the other. After the climb and walking around the high levels of Asahi-Dake, eating onigiri, rice balls is especially a good memory waiting to happen, exceptionally full of bliss. After eating delicious soft cream at the “Michi no Eki Higashikawa Michikusa-kan”, they jump into the highest natural hot spring in all of Hokkaido, and enjoy relaxing at ease, appreciating such unforgettable, elegant moments.

After taking a ropeway from the Asahidake Onsen and getting off at Sugatami Station, the sight ahead is the crater of Mt. Asahidake spewing a great deal of smoke.
There is a trail that travels by way of Sugatami Pond and leads to the mountaintop of Mt. Asahi, the highest peak in Hokkaido, in two and a half hours.
