Places to see in ( Munich - Germany ) Asam Church
Places to see in ( Munich - Germany ) Asam Church
The late Baroque Asam Church is located on Sendlingerstraße just a few minutes’ walk away from the Sendlinger Tor (Sendling Gate).
It was erected between 1733 and 1746 by the Asam brothers and bears the official name of St. Johann Nepomuk.
Originally planned as a private church for the builder, its Baroque facade is integrated into the row of houses on Sendlingerstraße. Two massive rocks arise from the base of the columns at the entrance. The luxuriously furnished interior breaks from Baroque convention with its proportional distribution.
The Asam church is located at the Sendlingerstraße, which is with its numerous shops one of the most popular shopping streets of Munich. Today it is one of Munich's most important buildings from the era of the late Baroque. The Assam church was built in 1733-1746 by the brothers Asam. Special feature of the church is its original establishment as a private church and not, as a customary behalf for the community. For the brothers Assam the construction was rather an expression of their glory to God than the behalf for the community. A protest of the population made it possible for public access of Asam church.
The lighting concept of just 22x8m interior is divided into three parts. The lowest range was created for the people, and symbolizes the suffering of the world with its dark colors. The seating area of the Emperor is located in the second section and is decorated in blue and white colors. The higher rank with the elaborate ceiling paintings are a symbol of God. Another special feature of the Asam church is its orientation to the west rather than the east. During the Baroque period, it was also common for the cross opposite the pulpit particularly high to install, as an expression of submission to Jesus.

Tourist attraction in Munich Germany- St Peter Church
The Church of St. Peter is one of Munich’s landmarks, the oldest parish church in the city, and is known affectionately by the locals as Alter Peter (“Old Peter”). The church stands on a hill called Petersbergl, which is the only noteworthy elevation within the Munich’s historic Old Town.
With 299 steps and a great view
If you want to enjoy a view of the entire city center from the tower of St. Peter’s parish church, you must first climb no less than 299 steps. Once you reach the top, the panoramic view of Munich’s center makes up for the effort. When the weather is very good, the view even reaches to the Alps.

The Asamkirche, a Baroque Masterpiece in Munich, Germany
The Asamkirche is a stunning, small late Baroque church built by the wealthy Asam brothers as a personal church attached to their home. The church is beautiful inside and even more so when a choir happens by, as occured during our recent visit. Look and listen.

Amazing Churches in Munich, Germany
A Tour of the nicest churches in Munich - Frauenkirche - St. Michael's - Asamkirche - Theatinerkirche. These are some of the most beautiful churches that I have ever seen.
This is a video tour of the churches along with photos and background music. There is so much to tell about these churches that I decided to leave it with, mostly, music, but it is worth it to research them before you go to see them. However, if you don't, you will still have a great experience admiring all of the architecture and the art.
This is another must see when you are in Munich - make sure to see at least these four churches (Frauenkirche - St. Michael's - Asamkirche - Theatinerkirche).
I hope you enjoy :)
