The monument of the Assens (Asen Dynasty Monument) is the third monument we visit! The Asen’s monument commemorates the Bulgarian kings from 1185 – 1241. This monument honours the 4 Asen Bulgarian kings Ivan, Peter, Kaloyan and Asen II in which Bulgaria prospered. In 1985 national celebrations were held, commemorating 800 years since the rebellion of the two brothers Asen and Petar which saw Veliko Tarnovo become a capital of the Second Bulgarian State (1185 - 1393).

The property is located at the very end of a well developed village 18 km. from Veliko Tarnovo. The area is very picturesque, quiet with beautiful mountain views, and with no other property in front it offers beautiful views of the Fore.The total living area of the house is 150 sq. m. distributed between two floors. Ovech is a medieval fortress, located east of today's town of Provadia. It is situated on a plateau above the town, named Kaleto.
The fortress was built by the Byzantines and operated from the 4th century until the beginning of the 7th century, then almost a century is not active. Its rebirth began in the 11th century and ended at the end of the 17th century. However, Thracian presence was proven before the founding of the fortress. The greatest prosperity took place during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The Byzantines called the fortress Provaton, the Bulgarians Ovech and the Turks Tash Hissar (stone fortress). In the historical chronicles of the 12th century, the fortress is also referred to as the name of Burntha.
Today the fortress has left the fully renovated bridge facility between the fortress and the Tabia Plateau, some water wells, grain sheds, guard towers, the northern stone gate, the nobles' prisons, and the wounded citizens and prisoners of war, and the marble columns of Khan Omurtag.

2013.7.2(Weliko Tarnowo)保加利亞第二帝國（保加利亞語：Второ българско царство，1185年-1396年，也稱保加利亞第二王國）是在保加利亞第一帝國滅亡近170年後，從東羅馬帝國獨立出來的保加利亞國家。1185年，貴族出身的伊凡•阿森和彼得•阿森兄弟領導保加利亞東北方的第諾伐人大規模起義，反抗並打敗了東羅馬的駐軍。1187年，東羅馬承認保加利亞獨立，即為保加利亞第二帝國，首都普列斯拉夫，後遷至第諾伐。13世紀，保加利亞經濟發展，城市增加。國王伊凡•阿森二世時期（公元1218年-1241年），國力達到鼎盛，疆域最廣，南抵色雷斯，東西至海。阿森二世死後，國勢日衰。1242年，大蒙古國的拔都軍入侵至此。1258年，阿森王朝被推翻。
Bulgaria HiLites: Tsarevets, Medieval Stronghold in Veliko Tarnovo
Tsarevets is a medieval stronghold located on a hill with the same name in Veliko Tarnovo in northern Bulgaria. It served as the Second Bulgarian Empire's primary fortress and strongest bulwark from 1185 to 1393, housing the royal and the patriarchal palaces, and is a popular tourist attraction.
It has three entrances. The main entrance is located in the easternmost side of the hill. The castle complex is located in the centre, surrounded by an internal stone wall, two battle towers and two entrances - north and south .It consists of a throne hall, castle church and the king's chamber. The restoration of the fortress Tsarevets began in 1930 and was completed in 1981 in honour of the 1300 anniversary from the establishment of the Bulgarian state. Kings Petar, Asen, Kaloyan and Ivan Asen the second lived there.
The palace is located on the hill's central and plain part, which was a closed complex encircled by a fortified wall, 2 towers and 2 entrances, a main one from the north and one from the south. It featured a throne room, a palace church and a royal residential part and encompassed 4872 m².
On the top of the hill is the patriarchate, a complex with an area of about 3000 m², whose church, built on the grounds of an Early Christian one, was reconstructed in 1981 and painted in 1985. The frescoes inside, painted in a striking modernist style rather than in the style of traditional Orthodox frescoes, depict conventional Christian subjects as well as glorious and tragic moments of the Second Bulgarian Empire.
Tsarevets hill is also the location of Execution Rock, an outcropping over the Yantra River from which traitors were pushed to their deaths and their bodies fell into the river.
