WISTERIA IN FULL BLOOM AT ASHIKAGA FLOWER PARK | Japan vlog #12
When planning our trip, we didn't purposely go during the wisteria blooming season and it was pure coincidence! It was an amazing experience to see these in person and I highly recommend visiting Japan when they are in bloom! The Ashikaga Flower Park was quite a journey from Tokyo, but definitely worth the trip.

Yamanashi Iyashi no Sato - いやしの里 - 4K Ultra HD
Yamanashi Iyashi no Sato - いやしの里 - 4K Ultra HD : Destroyed by a landslide in 1966, Iyashi no Sato was a former village located near Lake Saiko and in front of Mt. Fuji. It was only in 2000 that some former villagers and the city hall, decided to rebuild the place into a magnificent open air museum. Here people can not only enjoy some of village’s oldest artefact but also art, craftwork and traditional Japanese sweets and food.
Despite being 100% tourist oriented, the Iyashi no Sato is really a nice little village that needs to be visited if you are traveling around Mt Fuji.

2. Ride Keifuku electric railroad(京福電鉄、嵐電 Randen）
From Arashiyama Sta.(嵐山) To Katabiranotsuji（帷子ノ辻）（Transfer）
From Katabiranotsuji （帷子ノ辻） To Kitano-hakubaicho sta.（北野白梅町）

There are some places in this world we have to visit before we die. Places that are so unbelievably beautiful that we need to see it with our own eyes to believe it. This Japanese National Park in Hitachi is one of those places. Between April 15 to May 10, it becomes a place where the ground meets the sky – the Nemophilia flowers, also known as Baby Blue Eyes, bloom making a fantastic landscape that can't be compared to anything else on earth.
Hitachi Seaside Park (国営ひたち海浜公園) is also an amusement park. In fact, there are 7 different areas to explore inside the park, all for a reasonable entry cost of 410 yen for adults, 80 yen for kids.

BY TRAIN
From Tokyo, take the JOBAN LINE from Ueno Station to KATSUTA STATION (勝田駅).
There are express trains leaving twice an hour.
70 Minutes (express) approx. 3820 yen / local train 2110 yen
At KATSUTA STATION to the Park:
1) There is a local bus leaving every 15 minutes for 200 yen
2) A taxi will take 10 minutes and cost about 2000 yen.
3) You can also take Hitachinaka Seaside Railway to Ajigaura Station then walk 20 minutes.
The JR RAIL PASS is valid on all express trains this way.
For reserved seating, make a reservation in advance at the ticket office.

The Japanese have a long history with bamboo, in myths and legends, metaphorically linking a mans' strength with this plant. Many festivals also include the use of bamboo in various forms.
Tenryū-ji is the head temple of the Tenryū branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism, located in Susukinobaba-chō, Ukyō Ward, Kyoto, Japan. The temple was founded by Ashikaga Takauji in 1339, primarily to venerate Gautama Buddha, and its first chief priest was Musō Soseki.

Muromachi Period: Jidai Matsuri, 2015 Kyoto.
The Muromachi period (室町時代) is a period of Japanese history running from approximately 1336 to 1573. The period marks the governance of the Muromachi or Ashikaga shogunate, which was officially established in 1338 by the first Muromachi shogun, Ashikaga Takauji (足利 尊氏).
The first part of this procession features Ashikaga Shōgun (足利将軍) and his close associates. Ise-shi (伊勢氏),who was minister of financial affairs, Hosokawa-shi (細川氏),the shogun's assistant for government affairs and Nikaido-shi (二階堂氏) who was a supervisor of judicial and government councils.
The next part features dancers and musicians, who perform Furyū Odori (風流踊り) or “Wind flow dance” at certain intervals. Very colourful indeed, this was very popular during the Muromachi Period.
