Ashley Reservoir, Holyoke, MA. The Ashley Reservoir, constructed in 1897 and located in the City of Holyoke, Massachusetts, is owned and operated by the Holyoke Water Works. Ashley Reservoir Loop is a 3.7 mile loop trail located near Holyoke, Massachusetts that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for nature trips, road biking, trail running & walking and is accessible year-round.

Welcome everyone to Adventure Wednesday. This week I’m at Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke. This reservoir was built in 1897 and is one amazing place to go for a walk. With multiple trails and intersecting gravel roads you can easily choose a distance that suits your walking desire.

The tower is now overgrown and frequented by teens. It can be climbed but I was focusing on not crashing my drone. Interstate 91 N/S can be seen below as well as the Connecticut river. Along the river is the city of Holyoke and South Hadley and Chicopee beyond. The mountain ridge is to the north is Mt. Tom and the Mt. Holyoke ridge. The path leading under I-91 can be followed at lower altitudes.

Item 2: Public Hearing for a special permit application from Boston Bud Factory for a Registered Marijuana Retail Establishment (RMRE) and Registered Marijuana Manufacturing Establishment (RMME) at 73 Sargeant St. Holyoke MA Map 028 Block 07 Parcel 013
Item 3: Sullivan/Bartley: Ordered that The City Council and Mayor amend the city ordinances to create a commission whose purpose is to consider all aspects of the Whiting Street Reservoir. The commission should be comprised of Holyoke residents only. The charge of the commission should include reviewing costs to maintain the Reservoir and repurposing it for future use as well as ensuring that reasonable environmental considerations are maintained
Item 4: Bartley/Bresnahan 10/2/18: Ordered that The City council amend its ordinances to create a committee to study the costs and benefits of involved with the City of Holyoke establishing its own animal control facility. The expectation is that the committee, once created, will produce a report to be reviewed by the Board of Health, City Council, Mayor and other relevant departments.
Item 5: Valentin 11/7/18: Order: That the “resident parking only” ordinance for Pine St. voted on recently be reconsidered and signs be taken down by DPW at this time. Several neighbors state that they were not notified of this change and are not in agreement with the rigidity of the ordinance as it is currently implemented. There is no official notification process at this time for “resident parking only” requests.
Item 6: Valentin 11/7/18: Order: That an official petition and notification process be implemented regarding “resident parking only” requests, such as the petition and notification process in place for speed humps via ordinance at this time. Proposed wording: “That no “resident parking only” be established, except upon petition to the City Council signed by at least two-thirds of the property owners or two-thirds of the registered voters within the impacted segment of a proposed “resident parking only” street.”
Item 7: Lisi 11/7/18: Order: that Sec 86-97 of the City’s Parking Ordinace be struck from the city’s parking ordinaces:
Sec 86-97. -All night parking
No person shall allow, permit or suffer any vehicles registered in his name, other than one acting in an emergency, to be parked on any street in the downtown area between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. of any day.
Item 8: Leahy 2/20/18: Ordered that the City Council be notified by Dept. Heads on all allegations of missing funds within three business days.
Item 9: McGee 6/19/18: Ordered that the Supervisors Union Please provide a list of all employees in the union and how long they have been part of the union for.
Item 10: Roman 6/16/18: Ordered that the City of Holyoke Personnel Department and its contractors review and make revisions to their current civil service processes and eliminate any barriers, during an interview and application process, that may preclude applicants with criminal records from gaining employment with the City of Holyoke and/or its contractors. Giving exception to any employment having to deal with the elderly, and the youth.
