Igatpuri is a town and hill station in the Western Ghat mountains of Maharashtra, western India. North, hilltop Tringalwadi Fort has a small temple. Southeast, trails lead up to Kalsubai Peak. The surrounding Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary.Igatpuri is located 121kms away from mumbai. On a daily basis, 4 trains run between Mumbai and Igatpuri. Best way to visit is through road National Highway No - 3, it is a must plan trip during rainy and winter season.
Ashoka Waterfall based @ Vihigaon Village is a wellknown. Picnicking is popular at this picturesque waterfall & pool surrounded by forest.
As it was start of the monsoon season the flow was not as expected. the best time to visit is from mid July to September.
One day trip can be planned from Mumbai or Pune.

ASHOKA FALLS / VIHIGAON FALLS IGATPURI NASHIKThe trip started off as an impromptu drive to igatpuri, we were on the way to Tansa lake and overshot the road which was suppose to be our first stop over.. we almost reached half way to igatpuri , on the way we saw a tunnel and a board that said ASHOKA FALLS. we decided to go as we didn't have a plan as such anyway. and what we came across was this amazing stretch of greenery and by luck got the entire waterfalls to ourselves.
TIPS -
1. Slow down when the ghats to igatpuri start, somehow the maps act funny here as there is no network.
2. take the Tunnel route and keep heading straight till u see the entry.
3. Please do not litter at the waterfall, so many glass bottles and plastic around, though they have done a great job at maintaining it.
4. Once ur done, u have to ask for BHARATH, and then head to his stall for some of the best Bhajiya and Vada u will ever taste.
5. if u still have time on hands u can then proceed to the Left and come across this Bridge with an open lake on both sides, if someone says go further up 10kms to the Dam, plz do not as the entry to the DAM is restricted and the officials won't let u in.

The waterfall is also known for serving as a place for many shots of the film, Ashoka, starring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor.Vihigaon is a basic adivasi village. There is no facility for food and accomodation. So carry some food or snacks. This place is so good that one can easily spend one day picnicking here.By Train Nearest railway station is Kasara, you can take a local train from CST to Kasara.Drive 110km on NH3, take a left turn after 7km from Kasara, another 5km drive reaches you to Vihigaon.Nearest railway station: Kasara station or Igatpuri station.

A song sequence from the movie Ashoka was filmed at this waterfall. Vihi Waterfall is located 12 km from Kasara. We took early morning train till Kasara Railway Station from Dadar we reached Kasara around 9.00 am. There are many Jeep Taxi available from Kasara Railway Station to reach Vihi Waterfall. Jeep are priced reasonably can accommodate upto 10 to 12 people easily.
The waterfall is an ideal spot for rappelling. In monsoon, this waterfall gives the adventurers an opportunity to rappel in the middle of the thick forest.

I visited Igatpuri with my friends and we stayed at Taloli Tents Resort. Overall it was an amazing experiences.There are lots of places to visit in Igatpuri, but we visited the Ashoka Waterfalls and Myanmar Gate.
Igatpuri in monsoon is just amazing and would suggest everyone to visit this place

Ashoka Waterfalls, Igatpuri..an awesome place to visit with family...
Cool place to visit in rainy season...yes!! this is where some scenes of the Shahrukh Khan's movie Ashoka were shot, hence the name....this place is approximayely 60-65 KM away from Nasik...DO NOT go in August-September because you'll find huge crowed and a traffic jam...best days to visit this awesome place are in the first month of the rainy season i.e. late June and early July...How to reach?
From Nasik, on the Mumbai-Agra highway -- Ghoti -- Igatpuri --from Manas Resort (Ghatan devi temple), take a right turn...at one point, you'll find a split road...just take a right turn again towards Vihigaon and there you are...at the ASHOKA WATERFALLS!!! ENJOY AND BE SAFE!!!
